The long awaited piano cover is finally here!
Hikaru Nara by Goose House!
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (your lie in April) is definitely one of the best anime series of this fall anime season 2014, and of course, I am not missing out the awesome OP song as well!
Initially I wanted to make a very sophisticated and virtuosic "piano fantasy about a theme of a classical music anime" - transcription, because it fits quite well with the classical music topic of the anime.
I attempted to integrate the Schumann piano concerto in A-major with Hikaru Nara (and changing the time signature from 4/4 to 3/4), but I gave up the idea halfway, since it didn't sound very good.
That's why I started from the scratch again and made a slower, "ballad-version" instead. I took the main motif from the chorus and created many "original passages" - mosty noticeable in the beginning part and the build-up transitions before the chorus.
This piano version of Hikaru Nara is also more melancholic than the original upbeat Hikaru Nara song by Goose House, because of the slow beginning and slow ending.
I think, you could regard this as a "summary" of my transcription activity of this year. The first piano medley with sheets, (Nagi no asukara), the first piano cover with "classical ending" (owari no sekai kara), the first live concert in three major asian cities (animenz live!) .... I had many firsts this year and I gained a lot of valuable experiences.
It was truly a fantastic year for me.

@@Ethan-lx2mc firstly, it’s a piece. It depends on you how long it will take to learn it(edit: found a comment saying it took them 3 months to master it). If you’re serious about learning the instrument, i suggest you get a teacher, apps aren’t the best imo. If you’re only gonna learn it for fun, I suggest synthesia (idk if that’s how it’s spelled). Also, I think you’ve realized already, but this piece is quite hard, so you should take it slow on this one to make sure you get each bar right :)

This anime has given me so much to take away.
I have learned so much through this anime.
I was in a very difficult phase when I started it.
But this series has given me strength.
I started to play the piano again, because this anime showed me how much emotions are in music. I have found a connection to classical piano music and finally have the feeling that since I started playing the piano again I am made for it. Still today the piece Liebesleid by Kreisler is one of my favourite pieces.
I have probably expressed myself badly now, but I am so grateful to myself that I clicked on the first episode of the anime.

its cause animenz has tours and concerts, and he is also studying music at a university in europe according to his website, theishter has so much more time, and animenz's arragements are much harder tbh
Same goes for drawing. People think that someone just sits there and starts drawing sketches like Da Vinci while in reality you need to spend many hours learning (many thing in many ways) to be able to draw something nice :) I really admire people who have enough determination and discipline to sit everyday and learn, hone their skills, and spend time on their passion.

I feel like this would be the way Kousei would have played it after everything that transpired throughout the series. Remember in the first episode he started to write the notes for this song?? The beginning feels like him longing for Kaori after she's gone, the middle is Kousei remembering every moment they spent together, and the end where he says goodbye
Edit: The transition from every part of the song to the next is so perfect. You can really feel those shifts in emotions as they're happening

I didn't like to play the piano because it felt like I had to, but nothing else. Then I saw this anime and it changed my point of view about classical music and performing. I was almost about to quit piano, but now... I'm practicing the Revolutionary from Chopin :)

This anime literally changed my life. I've been playing piano since I was like 7 and it always seemed I played just because I had to. For a moment I thought like giving up because I had to do a lot of sacrifice to practice, but after watching this anime I changed completely my mind. I started to enjoy music and I realized it was very satisfying feeling the music. Now I am sure I'm going to keep playing. It reached me...

Same here, I passed my lvl 8 practical and theory exams and was considering quitting, and ended up taking a month-long break from piano. I watched YLIA in that month, and now I'm actually looking forward to my lessons starting again. When I first watched Your Lie in April I was 11 and it absolutely broke me. I just rewatched it at 15 and I think I finally understood what Kaori was talking about. The show is so sad, but there’s a beauty and happiness in it that is hard to see.
I first watched the show in the latter half of August 2020. I love the way Kousei fights back with his trauma, but I was a little sour with how they handled the ending. I thought that Kousei might fall back into the abyss once again; taking two consecutive hits from his loved ones was too much. Now, 2024 has come, and April is near. I finally gave it a rewatch. I realized the show is not just about romance or music. It’s about self-worth, pushing through trauma, and expressing love to your dearest people before the clock stops ticking. Arima Kousei slowly comes back to the stage, saying a final goodbye to his mother, acknowledging people who he influenced, showing Kaori that he can stand on his own after the fair and the final competition. Though Kaori’s passing away is devastating to him, Kousei will now take it endearingly to his heart. The message of pushing through hardships and trauma to reach his loved ones is absolutely one-of-a-kind, leaving me breathless. This reminds me of why this was once my favorite anime.

@@lefudj4236 good luck to you dude!! This one is much easier than guren no yumiya as that song is his 7th most difficult transcription (noted in his one piece we are desc box). I'd suggest learning this on the side at the same time, its nice and relaxing compared to the epic and intense atmosphere of guren no yumiya if you ever get frusturated. HAVE FUN

You lie in April is one of the reasons why am learning the piano, and am trying my best to learn the opening because I want to know at least one of the songs that inspire me into playing the piano.
Good luck! It will take a long time and a lot of practice, but for every minute you put into practicing, it pays off in the end, and you can create something beautiful.
David martinez Same here, Animenz and Theisther's piano covers inspired me to start playing the piano late last year, and I just got a 76 key keyboard. It's hella hard, but I'm going to keep practicing until I can play their covers just as good as they can.

Haha, this remembers me of the time when I started playing piano in second grade. I was forced by my piano teacher to play the pieces she knew and could play so I never got the chance to actually play what I wanted to. So after 5 years of playing I quitted and about 3 years after I quitted, I really got into anime again, I used to watch a lot anime in my childhood (Dragonball Z, One Piece, etc.), and then I figured out that I could play my favorite Anime Openings on piano to impress some friends, you know just for fun. And now I‘m playing almost every day learning new pieces everything over RUclips. There is this one RUclipsr called Amosdoll, he has to almost every Anime Opening an tutorial! But anyway now I can play many different Openings on the piano and I even learned an classical piece. Oh and Animenz was also a main factor why I started playing piano again because when I first saw his Tokyo Ghoul Unravel cover I was so impressed by it that I also wanted to impress my friends with playing Anime Openings they knew, on the piano. Nah it wasn't supposed to be happy, that anime/manga is just as big tear jerker as Sparks Notebook, and this cover just fits perfectly.

In truth, I loved this version of Hikaru Nara. Not because it's a well played piece, but because it has heart. Music should be like this. People forget that music is for "what sounds nice" and now, they think it's just for the sake of playing that piece.

This awkward, clumsy kid came onto the stage and accidentally hit the piano stool with his butt. It was too funny. He turned to the piano that was way too big for him and the moment he played that first note, I was drawn in.
The sound was beautiful, like a 24-colour palette. The melodies danced.
The girl next to me started crying. I wasn’t expecting that at all.

When I found out we were in the same middle school, I was ecstatic. But how would I ever come to talk to you? Maybe I’d hang out at the lunch concession. Instead, I just watched you from afar.
I mean. After all. You all seemed to get along so well. There wasn’t really any space in there for someone like me.
When I was a kid, I had to have an operation and I started having to be at the hospital for regular check-ups. In the first year of middle school, I collapsed and I was admitted over and over. With every visit, I was there for longer and longer. Really, I didn’t get to class much in middle school, I spent more time at the hospital. And I knew something was wrong with my body.
One night, I saw my parents crying in the waiting room and I knew that my time was running out.

This is an absolute masterpiece. I could listen to this song on repeat and never tire of it. Uhg, the climax is heart wrenching. Whenever I want to give up on the piano, I’m coming to this video.
