The Thunderhill West Track Experience! I love Thunderhill West in Willows, CA. It's a nice short/technical track like Sonoma Raceway but without the walls!

Thank you Sean for these beginner guides. I just started going to track days and these have helped me get an idea of where everything is stationed!
Excellent video...and driving! 👍👍👍.
I’ll be there with my homies from Reno SCCA on 8/2/19 and will be driving my ‘87 Alfa Quadrifoglio during track experience. Hardtop on, is OK.
Will memorize the track from your video.😀😀😀
Thanks!
Thank you Sean for the intro, hope to make it out there soon !
Cool! Thanks for watching!
I just finished my first track day here, youre video helped a lot!
second and third turns at 7w were cleaner than the first lol, nice driving, and thanks for the video!
Today my boyfriend is racing for his first time at Thunder Hill, so watching made this easy worrier feel better. ^_^ That looks like a bomb ass amount of fun!
great guide. going on the 26th for the 1st time at thwest after doing 15 years of theast. hope u r there. u still owe me a ride along Sean Sean.
Enjoy West, it'll be fun! I won't be there on the 26th but maybe towards the end of the year. I'll be at Sonoma on Sept 30th with TrackMasters Racing. I'll be happy to give a ride along.
thanks. Big help! to prep for 1st time at thunder hill
Nice tutorial. Appreciated.
Thanks!
subscribed Sean. Awesome tutorial
Thanks Daniel! I always find track "secrets" to be really helpful. Every track has a tricky turn that will surprise you if you're not ready for it.
Thanks for this!!
SICK
Nice tutorial! How much horsepower/torque you running?
Taking my ‘19 Camaro ZLE 1LE once she’s broken in! Thanks for the video!
Did u ever take it?
Looks fun
I've only run East. this one looks fun too.
Nice job bro
Thanks!
Sean... Thanks for this... What App are you running?
IS your equipment not sized right? You are constantly fidgeting with your helmet and belts all the way around the track to the point it seems like you could be distracted.
What gear are you in for most of this
I have a stock Miata that is snail slow , do you think it's still fun on *this track?
Yes bro there were n/a miatas passing people, it’s also a fairly flat track, your Miata will be just fine, did U ever go?
Thunderhill West doesn't look hard on the brakes at all?
After watching videos I drove a lightly modded BRZ at Sonoma yesterday. Video was only guide. My first session was cautious and getting passed a lot. Technical track with many points to slide. I drove a sport setting with some traction on. Second session started to remember the not blind turn and line was improving. By my fourth session passed as many cars as I was passed by. This track has a different feel and challenges from Thunderhill, and I really enjoyed my first time out
Do they trip off the sound DB at this track?
Which track do you like better Thunderhill East or west? I’ve been to East twice and I think this Saturday will be my first day on West. What does west offer? Or what are the challenges of west?
Paddle Shifters? Is that a conversion Wheel and paddles?
My car used to be SMG... then when the transmission went bad I put in a new transmission and did a manual swap at the same time.
That's awesome, so this video is before the Transmission went out?
Yes, it was before. I have several videos documenting my decision and experience of doing the manual swap, check it out. :-) . Here's one of them: ruclips.net/video/FXc7N-fdEIs/видео.html
How much does it cost to enter the place just to watch and look and stuff. Do you have to be apart of a club in order to drive on the track or are there open-track days? I really want to drive on a track but also don't want to break the bank since im a college student haha
Most track organizers don't charge to spectate or be a passenger. Look up local HPDE / Track Events in your area. Being a passenger is also very exciting.
How much did it cost to run it and for how long?
So if your a too slow, just let the driver behind past? Is there any amateur day? Lol. Real question.
they have 4 groupings in all events. novice is available.
A. You need to fix whatever issue is going on with your helmet. You adjusted it with your left hand like a dozen times a lap.
B. There's no such thing as a "U-turn" on a track. It's a freaking hairpin!
Sean what does it usually cost to participate?
Like $350 for a full day
I’ve never seen $350 for Thunderhill, maybe that price for Laguna Seca and Sonoma though. Thunderhill is usually $199-$225 with SpeedSF. You can go to MotorsportReg.com and check different events
No stick shift, no glory
Oh it's a stick shift now. LOL check this out: ruclips.net/video/4oxDWokJQNI/видео.html
Haha this is the best reply ever. Nice to see the manny swap, but paddle shifters can be fun too! And thanks a lot for the tutorial, I'll be taking my Mini to TH west in the next coming months.
LOL. I love paddle shifters and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. :-) I'll be out at West on June 20th, private group. It's definitely a great track.
god cars are boring
