There do exist cursive Japanese. It is very different from Chinese "Caoshu" cursive script. Japanese "Kuzushiji" cursive script used to be a semi-standard in various manuscripts, and it was still predominant in writing mails and diaries before WW2. Kuzushiji is very fast running (almost like a stenograph) and idiosyncratic, so it is a massive headache for historians.
For history researchers in Japan, a huge "Kuzushiji dictionary" and a smartphone study app "KuLa" are essential.

@@onetoteri ehhh... its not really an accent. If you've heard japanese children talk, especially kindergardeners or first graders, say the 5-6yo demographic that's basically how Hajime talks. The lone difference is she actually has a large vocabulary that little kids lack. She talks fast, she doesn't enunciate properly, she talks from the front of her mouth more then typical in japanese. And it's not an accent, it's how she actually choses to speak. She's not putting on an act for Hololive, apparently she just decided speaking that way was cute, and always has talked like that since.
And this video is sorta funny, because she's bragging she can speak normally, but when she's asked to speak normally, she sorta just slows down how she talks, and speaks louder. it doesn't really sound normal at all. imagine an english speaker who "spweekswikeawiddlekid" suddenly slowing down their speaking and just gets louder and still pronounces it "spweeks wike a widdle kid", no one would find that "adult" like. which is why they're all laughing. it's also why all the jp call banchou a baby. and why no one takes her "tough delinquent" leader persona seriously.
it's also why Banchou's dancing is such a strong gap-moe hit. she's an outstanding dancer with some seriously adult/sexy movement, coming from a silly holobaby is just pow!

The true reason she stopped using aru is because its a verbal tic associated which chinese characters (like Kagura from Gintama). Nene used to be a chinagirl character until the whole china fiasco. They immediately distanced themselves with Chinese association and changed nenes character from having chinese hairbuns to normal hairbuns/bear ears and removed her chinese dress. Many Japanese who grew up in places other than Tokyo has this issue after moving to Tokyo - they are forced to speak "proper" Japanese, which is essentially what used to be the Kanto or Edo dialect, and only speak their native dialect with close friends and family from their home town. This issue is especially problematic with Kansai folks who speaks Kansai-ben, that they just can't feel comfortable speaking Tokyo Japanese. I think Hajime is the same way with her unique way of speech.

I feel like Hajime's style of speaking is like the JP equivalent of XQC and how he talks, it's understandable but you need to tune your ears to it and you learn to get used to it after a while (I assume, idk Japanese). They both probably talk like this because it's more natural, but they can speak normal when needed which is understandable.
Doesn't mean people won't make fun of it though lol

I can't stand bullshit baby talk which is why I have no interest in people like Luna or Hajime. It's not adorable, it's a useless affectation.
