Can Archie Gray become a STARTER for Tottenham next season? 🌟

Starter or finisher, as long as he gets minutes, we're good.

He certainly can become a starter. Form and injuries means he has several positions he can slot into as a starter. CM, RB, maybe CDM. Good exciting talent

Big fan of your work, Ben Bowman. I want this guy, as a young player, to get minutes at RB this year. But I really hope he gets most of his experience at the 6 spot. I see the number 6 spot as the most important player on the pitch. Just my opinion, and I'm an American that just fell in love with the sport, and Spurs, about 12 years ago, so you could fill up all the oceans with what I don't know. Having said that, I see the 6, as a former diehard American football fan, as the old middle linebacker. The point guard in basketball, or the catcher in baseball. EVERYTHING starts with them when they are on the field. They are the heart of the spine. It has changed somewhat in American football, but it used to be that if the Mike (middle linebacker) was world class - Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary, Ray Lewis, Jack Lambert - your defense was going to be dominant. They put other players in the right positions, they covered mistakes, they were almost always coming forward to stifle the offense. The comparison isn't quite accurate, of course, because in American football, you have a totally different offense and defense, and in real football, players have to do both. Still, top class players in the 6 role - Busquests, Rodri, Kante - are seemingly more rare than world class strikers. If this kid could turn into even an 80% of a Rodri, your squad improves massively. Regardless, COYS!!

I like the analog with American Football, having played both. Gray may well be our #6 going forward. Even at this early stage, I feel confident he'll be able to handle it. If Ange thinks it, I'll believe it. COYS!

That is actually a very correct assesment of what a 6 is meant to be, especially in attacking styles of football such as Ange's style. The 6 is what I would call the maestro of the game, dictating the tempo of the game.

Long term a 6 or even 8. Very comfortable on the ball and brilliantly 2 footed. Also These videos have been great so far.

Might just be our very own James Milner, a versatile player who gets around the pitch and overall just keeps things tidy. Looking forward to seeing what he can become under Ange!

Ben, I've read/heard conflicting analysis of Gray. Some say he's more of a carrier, like Udogie, and that his passing is not a strength. Some say he's more of a passer, like Porro. My boss, a keen heartbroken Leeds fan, thinks he's best as a deep lying, hard tackling, ball spraying playmaker - a six. It seems, because people see different things, and because his data shows what he's been asked to do, rather than what he could *potentially* do, that he really is versatile and could become whatever Ange wants. Given the scarcity of elite sixes from England and Spurs' need in that area, I'm hoping it's that.

I think I see him long term as a 6 mate as well - he’s very comfortable on the ball but a good carrier too - very press resistant as well

That Chelsea game gave me in form Bissouma vibes, and in form Bissouma gives me Dembele vibes. If that's the direction of travel and his body holds up: holy shit, we'll have a legend.

Ange will allow him to play with freedom because of his high skill level. Unlikely to play right back except when covering an injury.

@joe_hallenbeck Totally agree. Age doesn't matter . Ange will introduce him from the bench no doubt. But I feel this young boy once given the chance will be hard to drop. His performances will demand he hold his place. That's my judgement.

Sure hope he comes good and turns out to be worth it!

We can’t keep settling for mediocrity. And Nico fuckin Williams. We could’ve got one of the best wingers rn with that money. It’s unbelievable
