I simply loved Bazil Brush.. I use to collect soaps as a child and remember having 1 of them.. Also had the bubble bath potion in bottle form of Bazil.. Today, at the age of 50, 3 puzzles came into the second hand shop I work at so I bought them.. Purely for nostalgia lol..
I loved Basil Brush as a nipper in the 70s and 80s. He really was family entertainment, jokes for young and old. I grew up with the Mr Roy years, every Saturday evening. It was this or the Emu Broadcasting Company. I wish I could find it on RUclips, but my favourite Basil joke is he bought a new TV. It's got knobs on the front, a speaker on the side and an instalment behind! Boom Boom!
I was 5 years old when this was aired. While I dont remember fully this episode, the fact that i remember Basil Brush and this type of entertainment makes me look at my 9 year old son and think what wholesome entertainment is he missing out on. Its Fortnight and other games this generation seem to hold onto too like me at 5 years old with Basil Brush. I guess this is the future memory's of the next generation???
I love Lulu's Glasgay accent, aye buts she's a gallus, gallus wee lassie, so she is. I live in Glasgow now and a lot of folk don't have time for her because of that posh English accent, I guess she was probably advised to do speak like that to get work, saying that Cilla kept her accent, sort of.
You want to check out the adult version of Rainbow! Here's some teasers... (Geoffrey) "Hello Rod, Jane and Freddie! We could hear you banging away out the back there!" (Zippy) "I've got a big red one!" (Bungle) "I play with myself all the time!"
The original Basil Brush was worked and voiced by Ivan Owen, who sadly died in 2000. The new Basil Brush is very poor, compared to the old cravat wearing puppet, which had character and a posher voice. The old Basil puppet's face did however look very bobbly, like it had been put in the washing machine too much. Great days !
Erwin ally I prefer the original basil brush because aswell he looks so much more cuddly and more funnier with comedy and the original show does actual sketches and with guest stars more too.
I miss the days of good TV shows even back then the kids shows were fun now it's all rainbow flags and pronouns we should bring back classic basil brush and burn the damn rainbow flags!
Basil was so “quick” and risqué. So many levels to him. I watched him in the 70’s and loved him.
Sorry, I beat you all. I'm 62 and still do the "Boom boom". Unfortunately, my grandkids have no idea where I got it from.
When I'm having a bad day at work i listen to basil on my lunch break. We had some great telly in the 70's and 80's
Basil is my go to lift depression , have you tried the Lp's .. pure magic
Loved the chemistry between Basil and “Mr Roy” as a child, and appreciate it even more as an adult.
Loved Basil and Roy. Staples of a 70s childhood.
Basil Brush was my favourite. Also remember fondly Sooty and Sweep, Bill and Ben, Mary Mungo and Midge and the Magic Roundabout

The original Basil Brush shows were great but I love the more recent ones, mainly because I'm in love with the actresses who played Molly and Madison.

LOL they couldn't get away with putting these jokes on kid's TV nowadays.

The voice was based as tribute to the late great Terry-Thomas, hence the gap between the teeth.
Dalek operator John Scott Martin as the court usher.

Good old Basil
I still have my 1972 annual
Never understood what Basil Brush as a kid. Much too innocent. The affluence of inkerhol.

It’s a shame Basil got caught up in Operation Yew Tree
