The ripping on the canned tomatos is ridiculous. There's a ton of chefs that use canned Tomatoes, they're fire roasted and marinated. The critics were being snobs and just trying to find reasons to hate the dish. Whitney was just being honest

@@frostypanda2295 its different with canned tomatoes. Many (top) chefs and cookbooks use canned tomatoes over fresh ones in some dishes because they add more flavours than fresh tomatoes and are badically natural aswell

Honestly I think it was intentional when Tyler did that. It could be easily blown off as a rushed mistake, but too many things don't add up. When Ramsay asked him why he did it, Tyler lied and said that he put his tray on the top shelf and that someone must've switched it, when the camera obviously showed him putting the tray on the lower shelf. Plus, when everyone grabbed their trays, they took the entire tray with them. His tray was the only one left. So why on earth would you just grab one off of a tray when everyone else took all four with them to their stations. I don't think he had the intent to sabotage, but I do think he doubted himself, panicked and grabbed someone else's in an attempt to still get something on the plate.
Canned tomatoes are often higher quality than fresh ones. Because they aren't picked before they're ripe and then transported outside of the sunlight and without access to more nutrients to grow while they finish ripening for weeks before they reach the grocery store. San Marino canned tomatoes are the golden standard for chefs who know what they're doing, outside of situations where there is a local supplier who you have a relationship with.
