Word of advice for the TP-Link: Download the driver from the vendor page, the one windows uses by default won't allow you to setup the a 5 ghz network as private on some routers and have some stability issues.
I haven't had the best of luck with tp link pcie adapters so I switch to a ubit pcie adapter and have had no issues since, absolutely love it. Great video as always mike
Ive had to give similar talks with many members of my organisation when they all started working from home. Im gonna start pointing them to this video as its more or less exactly what Ive been telling them. I rate TP-Link too, I use their Mesh nodes in my own place and they are amazing. Thanks for the video Mike and Kath, apprecaited as always Thats one good lookin' PC by the way.
A lot of older PC's didn't have built in WI-FI like most of the new motherboards do today so that's a good option of course. Your WI-FI will only run as fast on and older system depending on your motherboards capability with transfer speeds.
Always found TP Link network devices very good and cheap. Great video! Merry Christmas Mike and Kath. PS I bought my son a fridge for Christmas, I can’t wait to see his face light up when he open it.
I bought a cheapo usb dongle with an antenna some time ago to try an it worked ok for my need. But I had to move it away from the back of the computer with a cable. But I should invest in a Wi-Fi range extender or a mesh system for my basement. I wish you and your family a merry Christmas! Take care!

My tp link usb wifi worked really well up until i done some work on the pc disconnected all the cables but forgot the adapter tilted the pc on the back edge to do something and snapped it they work far better than those cheap ones you get from ebay with the attena on the back end they are nothing but trouble at times .My tp link was great never any problems .

i have a question that bothered me on this whole journey of pc building, do i need a fairly good wifi adapter i have 30mbps of wifi service and i wonder should i juz get an expensive one or juz a normal mini adapter, the thing i worried the most is does it affect my ping. i will be using 5ghz wifi. answers are appreciated in advance
Ookla speedtest.net (or the windows app) is generally more accurate - and I usually score best possible speed for my VM 100 - SHUB 2, not the 3, I've heard bad things about the 3. Funnily enough, prepping a little system with a rather long dongle (I think you can get medicine for that) for Wifi and thinking I'd better put a cable on it in case it gets knocked. PCI-E may be more efficient, as it avoids the overhead of USB transport. PS. I'd also hit Snappy driver installer for the latest driver by id - the "maker's" drivers are usually less up to date and only a rebadge of the underlying chipset drivers
@@mikesunboxing thanks Mike for your reply I have tried everything my mobile phones MacBook and tab connected with same router on 5g but this one is not showing 5g only 2g I think range is the problem I will try to bring router closer to PC

Interesting review, Mike! I tend to like solutions with antennas. BUT... if it works in your situation, awesome! :)
I think the end user in this case would easily break it so it is a safety measure 😇

if using 5ghz get one with a decent antenna
cant fault it for the price at all. Great bit of kit if wifi is a must
cheap and does the job well, not worth going any cheaper

you might need to go into the device properties in the device manager and manually change it, also you will need a compatible router to connect to
