Just getting into DCS bought the A-10C II a few days back and these Mavericks are driving me nuts lol. The training mission bugs out when you reach the EO stage. I subbed anyway, New A-10C content will be cool.. Updated info is always handy thanks for these. 👍
The only specific reason for the Boat Switch being in the CCTV (center) position for Force Correlation, according to the manual, is "This mode allows the seeker to create a basic picture of the scene and home in on one specified area of that scene." I assume that "picture" the Maverick needs is not visible to the weapon in IR Mode. This would also explain why you must use a "Non-IR", "Camera Equipped" type Maverick.
When looking through the TGP, you create your SPI on the exact point in the image where you want the Mav to impact. Think of switching the Boat Switch to the center position, as sending a command to the IFFCC to hand off that "picture" to the Maverick (which the AGM-65H replicates) so that that point is where it will steer to. Also, if you are looking at, let's say a window you want to hit and you're already in CCTV (center position), in order to Force Correlate the Maverick, you must move the Boat Switch to either White Hot or Black Hot for a few seconds, then switch it back to center in order for it to work.
First, make sure your target is your SPI in the Targeting Pod by using TMS Up Long. Once the target is SPI, then China Hat Forward Long will slave all sensors to your SPI.
When you force correlate, the EO seeker doesn't have to lock up an image match, it will fly to image you set the seeker to, which in many cases is quite farther than you can get a lock. We tested multiple shots at 18,000+ ft and were getting on target hits at 13.5 miles with AGM-65Hs. We also discovered that wind does play a role in distance. Into the wind shortens the range, with the wind extends it. So, for the longest range possible, try to get close to 20Kft, and avoid shots into the wind. Cheers!
@@Westpoint1-1 Thank you so much, and just to be clear the D variant can't force correlate? Having a hard time with the a10c on contention server right now ....
@@yolyromero4626 D variant has an IR seeker, so it's only seeking a heat source it's pointed at, so no, it can't be force correlated. The IR seeker also fixes it's range vs the H. I always load Hs unless it's night... D stands for Dark.
One of the most helpful tutorials I've seen while trying to learn the A10. Much appreciated!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your hard work on the hog vids..
Glad you like them! I enjoy doing them, as it helps me too!
Awesome presentation! thank you for sharing.

Let me know any particular systems you'd like to see a short tutorial on!
Thanks for the video. What's the reason for the boat switch to go center position?

great video, thanks
Good video. It's tough to get a channel going. Stick with it.
I subbed hoping you make more A-10CII content.
Thanks for checking it out! There will be more to come!
why the
boat switch center?

How to you slave your maverick to the targeting pod after making the maverick soi?

I noticed you fired it beyond its range how did you do that?

@@Westpoint1-1 Thank you I'm finally able to get kills in the a10c
