Me too!
Thank you so much! 😀
Thank you Susan!!
Same here!!! Really enjoying this channel too. The Appalachian accent is so charming too. I don’t know why but when I hear her speak Reese Witherspoon comes to mind.
@@roseofsharon815 could it be because of the Johnny Cash movie?
The kind of food my mom used to cook. Beans, cornbread cooked in an iron skillet. Where’s The buttermilk ? Need buttermilk to crumble your cornbread into. Looks delicious! God bless you lovely folks.
When first married my wife washed my cast iron cornbread pan with soap...Like to never got it seasoned back....ain't nothin but salt used now.....
Thank you for keeping Appalachian culture alive and well. I love the bluegrass and gospel too. I live in the north Georgia mountains just down the way from y’all. My people are from Micaville Alabama. It makes me so happy to see your gals, the next generation, enthusiastic about the music and the life in the mountains. I made a cornpone in my granny’s skillet and a mess of green tonight too. Keep the great videos coming and I can’t wait until the next one is out. 🌞😄🎻🎼
Thank you so much 😀
Being a guest at your house for dinner would certainly be a treat! Everything looks so good!
Such a breath of fresh air!!! Thank you kindly!!!
My granny Fields had a hand dug well, and they found a petrified log and petrified walnuts digging it, it was full of iron and Sulphur, and was not real good for drinking, but Okay for washing dishes, and less so for washing clothes. We drank it anyways. I sure miss my granny, but she was born in 1904, lived a long but cut short by cancer life. I remember going to her grave after she was buried, it was a cold icy winter night, and I felt so bad for her.
I love the outdoors and camped in all the seasons in years gone by..I just know that I would love to be in your area of the country❣️
Cory and Katie are adorable & very talented! God Bless your Family 🤗💕💕
I'm LD Drake and I live in in Dallas Texas I'm originally from Tennessee and the first time I saw you I was totally blown away but you so real and it's so many phonies in this world nowadays that to watch you it is so refreshing that makes me feel at home you keep up the good work LD
This was so enjoyable! You are Blessed with a wonderful Family. Thank you.
Appalachians love to add peppers and onions to every meal, and you have to add a slice of tomato and cucumbers to the plate to eat with it! That’s how my friends and family always do it here in southern West Virginia. Thanks for documenting a wonderful way of life.
Can't tell you how very much I am enjoying all of your videos. The My Life in Appalachia series and the vocabulary series and all the great music. Just good family life. I had that growing up so many years ago and tried to give that to my sons who have tried to pass that on to my grandchildren. Thank you so very much. Nothing that I have seen have I not enjoyed!
Beautiful song- where the soul never dies. Thank you! 😊
A good life! Your cooking reminds me of my momma’s cooking, especially the beans and cornbread! ❤️
Found your channel and now binge-watching, your girls are amazingly talented! Their Rag Time Annie gave me goosebumps, wowza!!
Thank you 😀
You all are making me miss living near them Appalachian mountains listening to this awesome blue grass gospel music. My friend Greg Sykes dad CE Sykes had a bluegrass band. Many weekends as a young boy his dad's band would pick and sing bluegrass songs under their carport back in the 1970's.
How this music brings back warm happy childhood memories when my grandma Hill from the Ozarks of Arkansas would play her 'O timey records
I'm so glad I've found your site & grateful for you sharing your recipes, family & community life with us all...May God Bless
Thank you 😀
I love the laid back of your life! Just sweet times together! Busy and fruitful! I live in the city, no room for gardening the way you do. I’m working on it! 🥰
Cornbread and beans is a meal in itself! MMMMMM. But then so is milk and cornbread. lol Thanks Tipper and family!
Cornbread with buttermilk is also a night snack & or deserts.
@@villiehaizlip7626 Well,, I never could go the buttermilk route but my grandmother made her own buttermilk and had plenty of cornbread with that stuff LOL
@@tomjones2202 My Grandmother & I got a cab to drive us to the farm to get a bunch of gallon jug filled with fresh milk. Went home loaded the churn by the stove, waited and 4'11 inch Granny would churn butter & save the dottered buttermilk for us. Took me awhile to get the rhythm of the paddle and that was a workout still don't see how she did it all. Best butter ever unless the cows got into some wild onion. I think I do her recipe pretty goog over the years. My family thinks so n that's what matters. Any yall heard of a cake called Japanese Fruit Cake. People would beg to buy them from her at Christmas. Naturally good. 😊
My dad long gone now loved his late night snack of cornbread and buttermilk. I grew to like it myself !
@@dianajones7999 It was a staple in my life growing up! And,,, from time to time it still is now lol :)
You are truly blessed! Winter time family and a fire with pretty music! All y’all need is that coffee pot out there! Now I’m to the part where that pot of beans and cornbread is looking pretty good! Yep you are truly blessed!
Blessed me so much. In this world today, your videos give us hope!!
This is exactly how my grandma cooked! I still carry the traditions
I can't stop watching your videos since I found your channel last week. I love the way you edit them. Really fun to watch. They're just so full of life and learning. I live in Pennsylvania, but now I want to move to North Carolina. Such a more simple life; that's what I want. Thank you for sharing! ❤❤❤

Makes me miss itbso bad. Nothing like a good fire.food and good music! You need to show another tradition i havent seen on here yet. That is finding and cooking ramps! Please do a viideo on them.
So soothing is: watching the snow flurries in silence; spring water running and splashing; and smoke coming out of the chimney 💖
Where the soul never dies, I remember that beautiful hymn long ago and it was wonderful to hear and beautiful voices singing, great talent!!
Dad even cooks!! Awesome!!!👍

These girls are beautiful and talented as I have ever seen ! Wow God bless 🙌
Enjoyed thanks looking at these older episodes is so munch fun
I like that violin playing, it lets you appreciate the moment. Our compliments to you. My daughter's Grandpa died from cancer and before he passed on he asked her to play the violin at his funeral. She said it was the toughest thing she had to do. Oh wow that cooking! Now you did it, I have to make something for myself now, probably leftovers.
Bill-I just can't imagine how hard that was on her!! Such a bittersweet story-thank you for sharing it!
I am so glad I found your podcasts. I have loved every one of them and look forward to every new one. Thank you for helping us keep in touch with our heritage.
I could listen to the girls all night long. What talent they were blessed with.
There's nothing like good, cold spring water to drink!
I enjoyed, especially, your explaining the music so we can appreciate it all the more!
Another fine video, good music, southern cooking, the girls play and sing so well,y'all are truly blessed, the person mentioned earlier Anniston Al, that's where I am from, thanks for sharing your life with us, stay safe and god bless.
Officially our first year now in the Appalachias and we absolutely love it with all the history folklore & music
Do you remember old timers drinking their coffee from a saucer? There's a poem, " I'm Drinking From The Saucer, Cause My Cup Has Overflowed, about the blessings of God. Thank you for the great videos. They are blessings to us all.
Coffee is not ready to drink until it's been saucered and blowed. The purpose of the saucer was to cool the coffee because it was poured almost boiling hot out of the percolator.
Yes! Granny saucered and blowed her coffee and my Aunt Pearl did her hot tea 😀 here's a post about it: blindpigandtheacorn.com/saucered-and-blowed/
Yes, My granddaddy did that with his coffee! Such wonderful memories
It doesn’t get better than that fresh spring water. Well water yum! We’re here in NM now but so many salts and minerals in the water. My goodness. We use reverse osmosis to filter. My family on my mama’s daddies ( my granddaddy) side is from all up in those area’s. I just love it so. Thank you for bringing me home.
Well this has become my Sunday evening habit. I enjoy these videos and also the way you’re preparing meals. You cook just like I do. And your meals look so delicious.
Love watching your videos -- they remind me of my mother's people who lived Ducktown (the DeHarts) back in the early 1900's. Also, your videos always make me hungry. :-)
Love beans and cornbread and fried taters and some chow chow for my beans and maybe some wilted lettuce :)
Love your family values. Shows in all of you. Your what helps to make America Great.
Thank you for this video and for sharing your lovely life in the mountains. I just found your channel and it is a wonderful source of information and inspiration. After learning who my dad's biological family was, I discovered that they were all from Appalachia - Eastern Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina. I grew up/live in the north but I'm now so drawn to learning everything I can about this heritage. Interestingly, when I was young, and had no idea about my roots, I was desperate to learn the violin and always wanted to know how to properly fiddle. I think my soul knew! I do play the violin but I really need to dedicate myself to learning how to fiddle and to learn to play these beautiful traditional tunes.
Really enjoy the my life videos please keep them coming
I so enjoy spending time with you and your family as you live your lives! Peaceful!
LOVE THIS WAY LIFE SHOULD BE
The spring and the idea of gravity water is so interesting! Your girls are so lucky to have so much history! Did the pipe your dad used run through someone else’s property or just the woods that nobody owned? I find life off the land so fascinating and it’s really cool to see people like you who lived through it! Building fires along a water pipe for hundreds of feet sounds like the most inconvenient of things to us nowadays but to hear how much you and Paul enjoyed it I’m sure your dad was thankful for the times you all had together.
Thank you! The pipe was on family land 😀
So beautiful and peaceful. I can't imagine living any place that would give this kind of joy and fulfillment. My heart ❤ will always have that special feeling for my paternal grandmas house with the creek and spring box. Her cow, chickens and the most beautiful garden on earth. Really good cooking, buttermilk and cat head biscuits 😋 I miss her 😢 so much.

I love your channel its like going back in time to grandmas house my mom was raised in the mountains of nc and very close to Virginia, we got bits and pieces growing up like the out house the gathering of wood and coal the garden the canning learning to cook, grandma still had her mamas rolling pin and the sewing machine, wood cook stove got used sometimes, its just amazing and i enjoyed doing chores,

Came across your youtube channel, binge watching. So peaceful to watch. Your girls are so talented! Ps made butter this evening like the one I just watched. This weekend trying out the cheesecake!
Thanks so much! 😊
The video was wonderful. The girls sing and play so well. That's what people used to do before television. Please tell me what greens you were cooking. Did you grow them or pick them wild? And was that white corn bread? I love regional cooking and the south is maybe the best of all. Thank you so much.
It was Kale from our winter garden and yes I like white cornmeal. Thank you for watching 😀
So glad I found you folks. I really enjoyed this.
Love you guys channel, glad I found it. Did you know that a remedy for muscle cramps is a little pickles and then drink a little of the juice also.
Possibly the best accidental ASMR in spurts here and there. That musical duet was Outf***ingstanding! Pure raw powerful heart felt and toe tapping happiness (this coming from a rock jazz flamenco player...not a drop of folk or country in my blood...but i know good music when i hear it) Great job! ✌😎✌ (just now watch the no cussing vid....ooops meant no disrespect had to find this and edit out my words asap! Just my word for really really good)
Glad you enjoyed the music 😀
I see snow! My 20 year old son and 12 year old daughter just got back from a 2 mile hike through knee deep snow checking rabbit tracks. Awesome times.
Take care down yonder!!
Now that's some snow!! Thank you for watching 😀
Another great video. What a concept a husband that cooks. Lol. My story about spring fed well did not end up well. I was probably five and thought I needed to ride a goat got her out of the barn put a rope around her neck tied her to the well and forgot about her. The next morning daddy went to feed no nanny goat well not in the barn anyway. She was in the well of course and not alive. I'm not sure I cried more from my goat dying or the whippin. Not a happy story but a lesson well learned.
Good morning ! We just got home from Lynchburg .It's beautiful up through there .
Ooooh, what a wonderful homey treasure finding this channel! Can’t wait to see more! That coffee pot pulled me right in! And watch out for the water dogs at the spring! Good times! Could you please give us step-by-step step about cooking those pintos in that pressure cooker ? I used to use one and have since forgotten how long to cook and how much water and beans and how to know when they are done. Sure would like to use that cooker again. Used to boil and mash potatoes in it too.
Beautiful beautiful music
Those girls are good! tks and best 2u
Love your videos too
Living the dream :-) Love the music, I am a guitar picker ( Bluegrass mostly) . Have a blessed day :-)
Ferns look just like those we have in the Santa Cruz Mountains...
I love your videos, I just made cranberry beans. We can't get them in Missouri. We went on vacation in Virginia and I bought 20 bags at Walmart. I could eat beans, cornbread, and can't forget the onion, I think everyday. ❤
Thanks
Love 💘.... I wanted you to know in the evening, I put your channel on,while I get my evening chores ect. I hope this helps your channel.
Your girls are beautiful 😍.
Thank you so much 😀
Beautiful music.
Beautiful.
Man that food looks delicious!
The omelet at the start of the video looked mighty good but what I want to know is was that kale in that skillet at 9:00? I was waiting to see you scramble some eggs up in there with it - My favorite way to have eggs!
Yes Kale 😀
Side meat pintos taters and corn bread yum yum
In East Tennessee we had a term called "Branch Kin" We aint related but we live in the same holler so we are branch kin.
🙂
Back in my childhood I can remember grandma having sassafras tea and I long for sassafras tea as I went through the years but I don't know is how to find Sassafras root could you do a video on that or have you done a video on that❤🙏
Klamath falls Oregon is watching
Man, you sure are making me hungry watch’n all that.
Grandpa needed a spring box to collect the water and keep most of the leaves and animals out.
Your daughters are beautiful, and talented. Man that supper made me hunger . Why and how often do y'all go into the woods and build a fire.
Connie-thank you! Not as often as I wished!
Hi from Italy! Love, love the music! Is that your daughter playing the fiddle? Can you recommend some CDs I can buy to learn about Appalachian music?
Hello! So glad you enjoy the music. Yes that is my daughter. You can check out our these youtube channels to find out more about Appalachian Music: ruclips.net/user/thepressleygirls and ruclips.net/user/BlindPigAndTheAcorn
Some beautiful women right there!!!
Had to clean that spring out and salt it good.
The way I see it your husband should be a much heavier man ! Lol The food you cook looks good. Love your videos . God bless you and your family
My brother outside Asheville has gravity water. Tastes so good
Love your videos. I was wondering what kind of wood is your countertop made from?
Thanks! Its cabinet grade oak plywood 😀
Is that Katie or Corrie playing the violin? My name is Katie, too 🙃 Reed is my last name 🙂
Katie is playing it 😀
Was that chow chow? Haven't seen that in awhile.
Have you ever done a lesson on using a pressure cooker? I have a couple but don’t know how to use them.
I haven't. Check out the Homestead Heart channel she has a lot of pressure canning videos 😀
