Maeob is Maeve (pronounced Mave) it means "she who intoxicates". The most famous Maeve was from the province of Connacht. She was an Irish pirate queen, thought to have sailed up the Thames to Queen Elizabeth's court.....(Apparently an Irish legend).

Maedb is Maeve. "Medb -later forms Meadhbh and Méabh and also Maeve-is queen of Connacht in the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology. Her husband in the core stories of the cycle is Ailill mac Máta, although she had several husbands before him who were also kings of Connacht. She rules from Cruachan."

@deejay1807 We're (Irish) taught Irish throughout our education, about 11 years, and it sticks to but a tiny handful. It didn't stick to me, but I know how Maedb is pronounced. The CIE train Dan was in is Coras Iompair Eireann. It means Irish Transport System, apparently.

Fascinating place. I'm definitely not a train spotter either and definitely don't have a book with the names of all the class 37s and 47s that passed through my local station 25-30 years ago, whatever they are... That train name I'm guessing could be pronounced Mave as Bh is sometimes pronounced as a V in Scottish Gaelic, so wildly guessing the B may be similar in Irish Gaelic.
