You’re right! Taiwanese are so kind and helpful. I find taiwan main station so confusing and complicated. I couldn’t find the east gate 1, so I asked a local and he was so helpful. He guided us to the east gate exit 1. I love the people of taiwan! And thanks for the video.
Carmelia Cucio you’re very welcome! Thanks very much for sharing your experience. I’m sure it will help others feel safe and comfortable when they visit Taiwan.
Just went to Taipei last month, and this guide is still surprisingly accurate. I've been to pretty much all the areas shown here, and not much has changed despite the Pandemic.
We were here early this year and sure this is so confusing. But we got the Taipei Main station app installed and it helped us quite a lot to get around - underground navigation worked really really well.
Haha the beginning is on point John! and I rarely make it out of this station coz it's so much fun, especially the Otaku hall with tons of game shops and collectibles etc
Google map plus the signs above helped us. And guess what? We explored the underground malls as well! Read somewhere that you can find cheap souvenirs there and we really did. Also, tip for finding the exits, the 7 eleven and nearby shops will tell you. Every exit has 7/11 so just remember your location from the main entrance and you'll be able to find your exit.
Thanks for you effort for helping expat enjoy our famous underground maze.hahaha But, many expat visit or live in “both” Taipei cities will love this maze when typhoon hits These area. That is a great place to go and have a good time indoor during typhoon holiday.
Thanks for this very informative video. I will be in Taipei next month and I’ll keep in mind not to look on those maps and don’t go to that underground mall. Maybe i’ll explore it next time when i’m not in a hurry and ready to get lost 😉
I took a vacation in Taipei two months ago, really want to go back again... but living in Xinyi district costed me an organ each night. I'll have to wait for them to grow back before I can visit again.
Hi, I'll be in Taiepi on May 10th 2023, did you happen to drink any drinks with ICE in them? I heard many countries where you should NOT drink the ice , but I'm wondering don't some places, especially in Taiwan, use a water filter ? Some Asian countries you can't drink the water so that's why I ask Thanks
Yes you can have drinks with ice. I had drinks with ice for 5 years and never had any issues. Shops, restaurants, or cafes will use water that has been boiled or treated for making ice. No need to worry. You cannot drink the water from a tap however so always buy or boil your water.
Does anyone know where to get a portable WI-FI other than at the airport? Our plane lands at 1:00 am and we have to wait there until the 4:30 am for the wifi place to open. Is there one at the main station? Or anywhere else in taipei?
Thanks.. . John.. I have got an idea about Taipei main station from your video.. .. I'm coming to Taiwan in the last week of this month.. . and I have to go to Taichung from Taoyuan Airport.... I want to go by bus.. . Could you please guide me..?? ?? Thank you..
Yes it’s really simple. Just look for the signs above your head in Taipei Main Station to Q Square and Taipei Bus Station. This is the long distance bus station where you can catch buses that run frequently to Taichung and other cities around the island.
If you take the airport MRT express train the journey is 36 minutes to Taipei Main Station. The bus ride from the bus station to Taichung is approximately 3-3.5 hours. ruclips.net/video/lr9EviyRcGo/видео.html

nekochen LOL!!! Yep it’s expensive there! Hope you make it back again soon!!!
I think you can get pretty descend room for around 3000NT in Taipei , just not in xinyi district, which may cost 6000 or above.
John,Very great video!
home8250 thanks so much! Really appreciate that!!!
Thank you. You are the best presenter, very clear and easy to understand. Have you thought of make a video on good budget hotel in Taipei?
Thanks very much! Sure I could do that in the future!
Going back to the Taoyuan Airport using express train, is it easy when you’re in Taipei Main Station?
For sure! Look above your head as you walk through the underground of Taipei Main Station and you’ll see plenty of signs that lead the way!

@@iamjohnsaboe GREAT and thanks for getting back , however have one more question
You think it’ll rain a lot there in May?
Thanks
@@ABOVETHECLOUDS007 yes May is a rainy month,(plum rains), especially in Northern Taiwan.
@@iamjohnsaboe Thanks for the heads up🌹
My friend and I got lost in the mall! The maps didn't have a "You are here" pointer, so we walked awhile find our way out to the place we had entered.
It can be a every confusing place for sure!
I remember last year i get lose in the Taipei main station end up very long walk to the next station
Yes many people do get lost in Main Station!
Nice video. I’m a Taiwanese who got lost quite often in the f...king station.
黃注 haha, sorry about that! Hope you find your way from now on!
Does taipei main station say. Where to go if i wNted to go yo taipei zoo????
For detailed info please download the Taipei Metro app on Google or the App Store. There are maps and info desks to guide you in the station.

Maybe you can rent one from Pocket Wifi Taiwan. Look them up and see if they still have airport pickup. They can also ship to your hotel.
@iamjohnsaboe wow. Thanks I will today.

Taipei City Mall (the underground mall) is the best shopping mall, better than ximending. How can you stay away from it ???? :p
How to navigate in the Taipei Main Station? Do it the local way: You don't. Even locals get lost.
They do.
Helpful video. Thanks.
My pleasure, thank you!!!
