For example a phone call to a grandparent claiming they're the person's grandchild using deepfake audio and asking for money for some kind of emergency. If it was a scammer, they may not have known the person they were creating a deepfake of was dead. Typically compromised passwords/accounts/identities are sold and resold before they're actually used.
Some of those single people in the villas were hired as actors. Production told them to do what they could to have participants cheat on their significant other

I am so glad you watched this show! I saw this show last year and you’re right…it’s a hot mess! The thing that I found the most unethical is that not only did they employ deep fake but they also edited conversations to be misleading. They explained to the couples that what you see is not real, but they didn’t say that you also can’t believe what you hear. I hope all these couples get therapy afterwards!

in spain we have a show called “la isla de las tentaciones” that’s the exact same minus the deep fakes - and somehow it’s even worse because they just display VERY explicit scenes to the persons partner and everyone else there (just to add to the humiliation) it’s crazyyyy

The concept of DeepFake Love is basically Temptation Island except that TI's clips are all real. On Temptation Island they go on "dates" with the singles to see if they're more compatible with someone other than their partner. And the first time they have to pick someone to date, they are forced to do it in front of their current partners. As you say: MESS. But seriously, if you like this concept for a show minus the deepfake aspect, I'd recommend Temptation Island (the rebooted version that aired on USA channel from 2019 to 2023). Especially recommend seasons 1 and 2. I also have a soft spot for season 4, but it's mostly because there's a surfer bro with long hair. The other main difference is that the Temptation Island host does mini "therapy" sessions with the couples when they have bonfire nights (that's when they show the clips of their partners in the other villa). imho he does a relatively good job of both comforting people who are upset while not taking people's bullshit. Especially in season 2+. Oh, and Netflix acquired Temptation Island after 2023 so buckle up for a lot more of this in the coming years, I guess.
