I just picked one of these up but it is missing the tender, it has a wire in the back that looks like it would plug into a tender and wont run... what is inside the tender?
If you had one you’d understand that they’re geared too high to operate at those switching speeds. I did the best that I could to balance the speed of the running gear and booster truck but that’s not always possible. That’s also why the headlight isn’t visible at all, the engine is drawing so little current that the bulb does not illuminate. For most of the video the engine is running below 30% throttle.
@@kevinjennerproductions2025 The truck itself is attached directly to the axle of the tender truck, regearing that would be near impossible without just building a new truck.
What a handsome looking engine, always wanted one myself.
Very smooth runner! Is this the one with the motor upside down in the boiler?
Very handsome engine!

Such a great piece!
Looks impressive for a switcher.
Talk about something I need in my life
great video
Did the real engines have a booster truck?
Yep! the prototype had a booster truck that looked almost identical to the one shown on the model.
@@gopernoperstrains3160 nice reminds me of the ls&I 2-8-0s!

Why are there drive rods on the tender?
Can u replace the booster truck with a regular truck?
Always wanted this engine but never had it
Is the booster truck exclusive to red box Rivarossi? I don't recall ever seeing it on an AHM version with exception of the O scale kit.
Nope. I had the booster truck variant by AHM when i was a kid. Nowadays i just have the standard truck version.
Did the IHB really own this engine?
that booster truck is going way too fast, they were used for low speed switching. This looks cool and comical at the same time.

@@gopernoperstrains3160 maybe 1 day i'll get one and regear the truck to run a little slower
