Hey folks - thanks for watching! If you're looking for more detail on all that accuracy data, you can find it here in the in-depth written review: dcra.in/ScoscheR2
@@kubagornowicz Sadly, it's actually Amazon's coffee that didn't kick in. My guess is you're in the UK or Europe. I linked to the Amazon US Scosche R, but at present Scosche hasn't completed their listings for Amazon Europe. So what Amazon does when you click on the link is they redirect you to Amazon Europe and then try and find the same product. Except, that product isn't yet listed, thus...they find something kinda same-same. Hopefully Scosche gets their listings up soon and all is well!
This looks great. I’ve been super happy with my rhythm 24 that I bought a long time ago when it first came out. Have never had it fail in any way and very accurate. One feature I love about it and not sure if this has is the blinking led on top which changes color and rhythm depending on your heart rate. It’s a great way to see at a glance what zone you are in and I don’t think I could go back now without it
Thanx for this review. I bought one of these from Amazon to get my HR data into Trainer Day, as my Garmin watch not is able to transmit HR over Bluetooth, only Ant+. So far, it was easy to setup and is fairly accurate.
Great review Ray as always. Just ordered 1 to replace current chest strap Garmin dual indoor and probably outdoor too if its as accurate as shown. It looks convenient to use.
Too bad I didn't see this video a week ago. I just got a Wahoo Tickr last Friday. I you provided some useful information about these devices though. Thanks for the info.
Ok, so first, OH shootout, yes please! But I have some questions I would love to see addressed. For some context, I purchased the polar OH1+ a little over a year ago, and needles to say I have been disappointed. Not because of accuracy, but because of battery life. They claim 8 hours, and maybe if I used it straight off the charger until it died I might get that, but my experience has been around 3 to 3.5 hours spread out over say a week. Needless to say I was exited when the Verity Sense was announced because it addressed, in a way, the big issue I had with the battery life. And I would get the upgraded strap that I could use with the OH1+ in a pinch if the Verity Sense battery died right before I went for a run/ride. But than a remember how I just feel burned by my experience with the OH1+. Point being, on top of just accuracy I would love to see some in depth battery testing. Are we getting the claimed, or anywhere near the claimed battery life? Also, many people relay on these devices for accurate HR, so why do so many of these devices not have a battery indicator? The Rhythm here could use its multi color LED, the Polar could use the 6 sensor LED's in the bottom, it wouldn't be that hard... Also, is it just me, when my external OH sensor dies in the middle of an activity, my watch goes absolutely bonkers and gives a HR reading even a blind man would say is inaccurate? Thank you as always for the great content.
Question: do these arm band sensors also suffer from very high readings when going fast downhill on the bike, specially when there is headwind? My garmin chest sensor does that, I take it is reading the flapping of my jersey/vest instead of my heart rate, I wonder if having a sensor like this would avoid that. 🤔 Thanks!
No, generally not. Your arms absorb all the vibrations there for the most part. And indeed, the chest strap flapping is a super common downhill high-speed bike issue.
@@Dcrainmaker Yeah I sometimes wonder I got so nervous during the descent that my heart rate jumped above 200 BPM or if it was just a misreading! 🤣 Thanks for the answer, I’ll consider this alternative the next time I need to replace a heart rate sensor! 👍
Have you noticed any instances of cadence lock with this device, when the device picks up your cadence as the heart rate? Both my fitbit and Rhythm+ that I own occasionally lock onto my cadence at the beginning of a run and shoot my heart rate to 180-200, which then I have to walk for a few minutes so that it can accurately find my heart rate again. Thanks
It's too bad that Scosche stuff is no longer available in Canada, I really liked my Rythm+, but after many years the battery life is no longer there (getting 2-3h max).
Does it automatically shut off after activity or being removed from arm? The one thing i dont like about the comparable Polar OH1 is that if you forget to turn it off after an activity it will just keep reading until the battery dies. I want a unit that is smart enough to detect when it sitting on the table reading 0 and shut itself off after a few min...
With a monitor like this, can I connect it to my phone and then set a HR ZONE to get audible alerts for hi and low rate? I’d like to run using MAF but I don’t want to have to look at my phone and I don’t have a smart watch.
Why don't they send the battery life remaining via BLE like...my wireless keyboard, mouse, etc.? And no, I don't want to connect it to the charger after every workout (I don't have to do that with my Garmin...).
@@Dcrainmaker My Lezyne head unit shows battery status for all of the BT sensors connected to it. It's nice to know when I might need to change my power meter battery before a long ride.
Is the 24 as good as the 2.0? You said the 2.0 needs a recording device near by but I can't take my phone with me when I run for crossfit. The 24 syncs later, right?
Thanks for the review. Do you know how well it works for weight lifting and calisthenics ? I've observed that wrist OHR have problems catching short HR peaks. With this band, I wonder if pullups or generally tension in the forearm limit the accuracy of the blood flow reading.
Am I correct in thinking this no longer has a HRV mode? that was one of the reasons I bought the Rhythm 24. I use with HRV4Training as it is one of the few external and quick to use HR monitors I could find.
My kinda wonky naming scheme: Device Recording - Power Meter - HR sensor. So it was recorded on the Enduro, with a PowerTap G3, and using the Enduro's optical HR sensor. Confusing, yes. But if there's one thing I learned from my computer days, it's once you have a naming standard, you commit to it...even if it's horrible.
I actually hate the new bands. Almost lost my Rhythm24 twice because they undo super easy. Took it off and dropped in my bag, didn't notice the unit itself detached from the band and landed on the floor instead. It never happened with the old velcro design.
It's funny, I actually lost the old band (original velcro design) in the same way. Used it during a triathlon, and it got caught on my wetsuit and I didn't notice - fell out somewhere.
Question: Why are you still wearing the Whoop strap? Your review was not positive to say the least.. and the results are obviously bad. Do you just use/wear it for comparisons reasons or..?
Yeah, they fixed the clasp breakage with new plastics. Apparently sunscreen was causing it for most. You can ring up Scosche and they'll get you the new straps.
Wow, I never knew the Whoop strap was that much of a dumpster fire. I was going to get one but I’m glad I didn’t! Do you have any recommendations for inexpensive watches/straps that give similar info i.e. HRV, RHR, Sleep tracking?
I've been using the original Rhythm+ for yeeeeaaaars, and the only reason I replaced it (with the same model), was due to the dog chewing the first one. Best HRM on the market. I might upgrade for the extra battery life, but that's about it.
The 24 has storage, but costs a bit more. I don't find the storage offloading piece all that great though there, mainly due to their app being cumbersome for it. Plus, you can't offload 24 hours of storage, it's roughly 6 hours of storage. Beyond that there's zones, but realistically you won't use the zones because most people do zones on their device.
Another great video Ray! +1 vote here for a 2021 Optical HR Monitor shootout. Quick question in the meantime: Between the Polar Verity Sense and this RP 2.0, which strap do you like best for comfort and staying put during a workout? I'm not a fan of the velcro on my old Rhythm+. If the accuracy is roughly even on both these new models, I'd probably go for the one with the best strap.
Thanks for the great review for accuracy. I have ordered the Scoshe24 and I am having difficulty finding the raw data that you used for your comparison. Any tips on where I can get access to that information. Thanks
Hi. Thanks for the review. I do martial arts and can't wear my Apple Watch while training and so this looks like a good option. Can the data on this device be passed onto the fitness app on my Apple Watch? I'll have the watch within 40 feet while training.
Great review. Question, is there a way to change the name that pops up for the sensor? My wife and I both have the exact same HR monitor. So it would be helpful if there was a way to distinguish them from each other. The name that is given to them at the factory doesn't do a great job of making them distinguishable simply by the name.
From your expereince, whats the best heart rate monitor that can be worn as a headband and uses the least power...preferably a coin battery that I can replace every 6 month or a year? Thanks!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the old Rhythm+ used to also sort of sometimes kinda report cadence and steps in the app. Any idea if this broadcasts running cadence?
So the old Rhythm used to do some cadence transmission stuff. I never really got into it way back then, as it was also finicky as you had to get it into the right mode.
Hey DC. Nice vid showing something different than the "big brands"! Quick question, is the Whoop really so bad in accuracy, or is this just because it is placed on your wrist? Thanks!
Thanks. It sucks in all positions. In fact, most of these are with the Whoop on the upper arm (forearm/bicep/tricep). A few on the wrist. I've got probably 150+ workouts now with comparison data on it, and the upper arm improves things slightly, but it still sucks across the board.
