Honestly Deku losing to Shoto is a testament to him as a person. He was more concerned with helping a person he barely knew than he was with winning the tournament. Because being a hero means helping people, not winning the fight.

So many favorite parts of this AMV. This is amazing! Perfect song, perfect edits.
This is such an insanely good song for these 3 characters as is perfectly shows how they all abandon something important to them to succeed; they’re ‘losing themselves and rising’ as the song says.
For Deku against muscular he has to lose his restricting of his % level and by that is rejecting All Mights teaching slightly as he begins to become more himself that trying to copy All Might. It could also be interpreted as him losing his bodily safety and not holding back to protect his own body and causing permanent damage.
For Todoroki, he loses his pledge to never his fire cause of the abuse he suffered as a child from His father. We see that he Loses himself by using his fire to win, thanks to Deku inspiring him.
And lastly for All Might, he makes the greatest sacrifice of losing his quirk, his position as Number 1 Hero, his role as Symbol of Peace, and most importantly his duty of protecting others to succeed against his greatest villain, All For One.
Whether by fluke or careful consideration this song is possibly the best song to portray the MHA story up till this point of the show (end of Season 4) as it also describes Endevour becoming a better father and hero, Mirio losing his quirk to protect Eri, and all the other Hero’s and Students finally rising. Amazing work to the creator and all who were involved!!
(Sorry for the rant, been listening to this song like mad crazy and it’s been bouncing around my head as to how much it matched)

Imagine if Aizawa was at that fight, like maybe arrived with all might. That would have been insane, cause I'm sure he could disable AFO before it activated any stolen quirks at least to some extent of non active mutations and such
