Thank you very much Hans for producing these Darktable videos, which I have found to be very informative and helpful. I look forward to viewing the rest of your videos, and greatly appreciate the time and trouble that you have taken in making them.
Tusen takk! Glimrende forklaring på tone filtrene i Darktable. Selv om jeg har vært Darktable bruker i mange år har jeg lært mye av dine videoer. Ta den tida du trenger mellom hver video. Det er ikke antall videoer som teller men kvaliteten på de.
interesting how the 'fill light' module works. And also that the 'brightness' control is same as 'midtones' in levels... I guess it's the same in a Affinity Photo where they label 'exposure, blackpoint and brightness' ... I'm glad you decided to stick with the videos! Look forward to the next one whenever it comes :)
Matt Willis-Jones Thanks, Matt! Yes, I agree. I rarely use the Fill Light module, and also Levels. I tend to mostly use Tone Curve, often stacking three or four. But that's the beauty of Darktable, that there are many ways to do essentially the same thing. And by the way, there probably won't be a video this week, but I hope to have one next week.
This video made me understand a bit more what I'm doing with all those knobs in darktable. Very well explained, the gradient image was an excellent visual aid.
Thank you for this and the other videos, very insightful. I understand that making one every week is a lot of work, so I hope you do find the time now and again. Know that they are much appreciated! Greetings from Amsterdam!
Very helpful, keep up the good work. Is there a way to create presets of my favorite modules? I would like to create one set of favorites for Tone modules and others for Color, Details, Exposure, etc. Thanks.
No, not really. There is only one set of Favorites. But you can decide which modules are visible in the other groups, ie Basic group, Tone group, Color group, Correction group and Effects group. I think I mentioned it in one of the earlier videos, but it might be a good idea to dig a bit deeper into it some time.
That's right. I never use anything automatic, so I tend to forget about it. What's worse, I forgot about fusion in the Base Curve module. But then the video would have been much longer...
Very comprehensive videos which provides good insight of the workings of DT...I am very thankful for your series!

Bare koselig! :-)
Your videos are the best resource right now for me for learning darktable. Very well explained and done. Thank you!
Well thank you! Very much appreciated.
A very useful series of videos, thanks for all the work that went into them.
Good stuff. I'll be back

Thank you for your support, it really helps the motivation :-)
Another five stars video, please go on with them.
Well, I don't know about the five stars, but I hope I am at least doing something right.

I just realized yesterday that you can make presets in the "More modules". This will be close to what you want.
Thank you... I'll check it out.
21:37 You can also auto set them.
In this module (levels), besides the manual, you have also the automatic mode. You could show it in the next video.
That's right. I never use anything automatic, so I tend to forget about it. What's worse, I forgot about fusion in the Base Curve module. But then the video would have been much longer...
1:32 I supose that's the case using the linear histogram. What about logarithmic histogram? Would it be similar?
Yes, in this case the logarithmic histogram shows exactly the same as the linear.
