The Lord gave me the focus of Hebrews this year. I have had a strong desire to hear clear teaching on it as I read and study. The Lord answered my prayer today finding this.

Hebrews 1:4 King James Version (KJV)
“Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.”
Jesus was MADE much better than the angels. God made Jesus.
    Hebrews 2:7
“Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:” God made Jesus.
    King James Version (KJV)
    Hebrews 1:9 God anointed Jesus.
“Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

Hebrews 1:3a Who being the brightness of his glory, and the EXPRESS IMAGE of his person
The word in Heb. 1:3 variously translated as “express image” and “exact representation” and “very image” is χαρακτὴρ (charaktēr) which is not to be found anywhere else in the New Testament, yet in the Greek Old Testament there are 3 verses in which it is used. And one of the verses is perfect to see how the word should have been translated. The verse is 4Mac 15.4 given below in two versions with the word in all capital letters.
4Mac 15.4 (Brenton trans.) O in what way can I describe ethically the affections of parents toward their children, the resemblance of soul and of form engrafted into the small type of a child in a wonderful MANNER, especially through the greater sympathy of mothers with the feelings of those born of them!
4Mac 15.4 (NRSV) In what manner might I express the emotions of parents who love their children? We impress upon the character of a small child a wondrous LIKENESS both of mind and of form. Especially is this true of mothers, who because of their birth pangs have a deeper sympathy toward their offspring than do the fathers.
χαρακτὴρ (charaktēr) in the Greek Old Testament : a. distinctive mark Le. 13.28 b. distinctive style: lifestyle 2 Mac 4.10: personal character 4Mac 15.4.
(typed out from my copy uv T. Muraoka’s Gk-Eng Lexicon uv the Septuagint).
Le. 13.28 (Brenton Septuagint Translation uv the Greek Old Testament ) But if the bright spot remain stationary, and be not spread in the skin, but the sore should be dark, it is a scar of inflammation; and the priest shall pronounce him clean, for it is the MARK of the inflammation.
2 Maccabees 4:10 (KJV) “Which when the king had granted, and he had gotten into his hand the rule he forthwith brought his own nation to Greekish FASHION.” [GNT and CEB has “way of life.”]
