You can use your manuals, the exam is about time! So the more coding guidelines you know the faster you will be! I passed the CPC on my first go round, but I’d been working in the field for 7 yrs! My advice is when you take the exam make sure you answer the easy questions first, leave the case studies for last b/c every question is worth the same 1 point!

Can you please, tell me what's the answer to the question capitalized below. Even with the Feed Back my answer is still incorrect. Thanks a mil!
Directions: Using an ICD-10-PCS coding manual for each of the root operations listed, identify the qualifiers that are applicable to the root operation in the Obstetrics section.
    ROOT OPERATION: CHANGE_______________________
    This is the Feed Back
Refer to the ICD-10-PCS coding manual Obstetric section. Obstetric section tables begin with (1), the second character is always (0)-Pregnancy, character 3- root operation - Change (2). Locate Table 102 in the coding manual. In Table 102, reference Qualifier character 7, list all qualifiers applicable to root operation change.

No, the score is not on your certificate. My employer does not ask for score. I’m not sure of other employers but I doubt it. ICD-10CM Book is for physician billing. Services that go on CMS-1500 claim form. If you’re coding for physician billing then you might have to get the ICD10CM Book. Idk if the PCS Book has both sets. 😬

Sorry to hear that Shila.. the association you took the exam through. Were they able to provide you with areas of the exam you got wrong? For example evaluation and management or 30000 series codes? If so, I’d focus on those areas. That is what I did when I failed my first attempt.

How long did you prepare for the exam? Did you use any other books or resources to prepare for the exam?

I studied for about 3-4 months. No, I only had my coding books and used practice exams as a way of studying. I didn’t take any courses. Once I passed the exam I then took courses to understand what I was doing after landing my coding job. 😅
