Blue star creeper. It can stand a little foot traffic, perfect for around the skimmer cover.

Creeping thyme and rosemary would soften up that stonework in a jiffy. And smell amazing too

Tony awesome pond!!!Okay everybody the dog was the star 😂…no no “Red Unicorn” you’re always the star ⭐️!
Those cedar trees are beautiful love them, and the prairie grasses. The problem with the cone flowers they are gorgeous but what we were looking at to plant was expensive! Got to grow them from seed to plant them that dense.
    I loved all the plants 😢I don’t a yard anymore I miss it…

I saw that too and started laughing - the dog is trying to get Brian's shadow when he puts his hands up 😂.
For some reason, nobody carries Alaskan Weeping Cedar trees anywhere here in Minnesota. I've checked everywhere! I really want one for behind my pond! Looks great!

I love this - I really admire how much passion and knowledge you and Matt have! The previous owners of our house put a pond in and the learning curve to make the most of it is huge. My husband was the main pond man before he became disabled a couple of years ago and I'm afraid the pond has fallen pretty far down my priority list. I'd love to overhaul the plants so we could really enjoy it. At the moment it's become overgrown with ivy with pinks and purples, but my vision is a tropical space with white, red, black and green only. I just don't know how to do tropical in the UK where we live.
Tony's spot is amazing - I just found you and subbed and hope to see an update in the future when the plants have begun to mature! I think painting the fence green would help to expand it visually and sort of fill in the empty spots while the plants are still on the small side. 💜

    Hi Brian.
You have selected some very nice plants and trees.
They will complete the whole thing and make the garden and pond even more enjoyable.
Of course it is the worst time of the year because summer is ending, however we still have a few weeks before autumn, so they will acclimatise to the garden on time.
Like 120 is now up to say thankyou very much for sharing.
    Take care, Sir. 👍🏼🙂👍🏼

Love the landscaping! I live in Southern New England and didn't get a chance to landscape around my pond as planned due to some health issues, but plan on tackling it next spring. Just going to add some small stone and mulch to keep weeds at bay for the winter. Loved some of the choices you all made and have some good ideas between this and what was done at the Garden Answers pond with Laura and family! Thanks!

I have to say this video has made me feel so much better about my choices for around my new pond. I went with a lot of colour this past Spring to get things planted up and I have spent the summer thinking I did it all wrong. Most of the videos of established pond videos is all just variations of green. But I love flowers and colour. So thank you Brian for doing this and tell your friend he did an awesome job with his backyard and pond!

I think we all know that in 2 to 3 years, Tony and his family are going to get rid of the above ground pool and put in a rec pond. That pond will have a meandering creek between the present water feature and the rec pond. There'll be a bridge between the two features, making them look connected but they will be two different systems. That edition will make this backyard oasis truly amazing.

When you mentioned a trellis for the clematis, I didn't expect something that ornate and love this idea. By any chance are these screen doors turned on their sides?
These pond planting vlogs are so helpful! Especially when it's a DIYer doing the job. What a beautiful space!

I wish more people would plant nasturtium next to ponds. Leaves mimic waterlily. Flowers are edible (peppery). Cascade over edge of pond

  • @DarrinsDaffs

I would have added a 'Miss Grace' Dawn Redwood to the area behind the waterfall. The growth habit would work in that area. Additionally, you get 4 season interest.

Definitely looks nicer - but you still have the traffic visible...how about a lattice on top with some kind of ivy or the clematis? I'd put in privacy bamboo in container against the fencing. ;) Brian....you're the best!

Tiger eye sumac are invasive because of their runners. I had them growing 10 feet away from the original plant. Had to pull out the original plant and runners. It took a couple of years to get rid of the all.

So it must have been hot because you lost the beard lol. Beautiful job and it really adds so much. I do have a question though. Not sure how many gallons that is. Looks like a bio falls 6,000. Just how often do the filter pads need to be cleaned? My pond is around 1000 gallons. The water is crystal clear and I’m pretty sure I have more filtration than needed. I only have 7 koi. I have 2 smaller bio falls , one on each end of the elongated pond. I have big skimmer with a 800 GPH pump. Also a small bog filter for a third little waterfall. However it seems like the filter pads get dirtier in a weeks time than I would expect. Biological I think it’s fine, the bottom has very little muck. Just wondering why the pads get so dirty that fast. I use a corse pad first then a finishing pad then the bio balls in a bag. What are your thoughts? Thx

    • @TEAMAquascape
      @TEAMAquascape  11 месяцев назад

We only clean the BioFall filter pads when we do a cleanout, the coarse pads filter out that sludge so they can get dirty quickly. Sounds like great filtration on your pond, way to go! 👍
