Your arrangements always have a special touch to them and it's especially nice to hear your interpretations of someone like Nick Drake who already had a ton of emotion put into his instrumentation. It's easily lost through the change from guitar to piano, but you exemplify it in your style of playing. Thanks again for another beautiful upload!
A day once dawned, and it was beautiful A day once dawned from the ground Then the night she fell And the air was beautiful Night she fell all around So look see the days The endless coloured ways Go play the game that you learnt From the morning And now we rise And we are everywhere And now we rise from the ground And see she flies She is everywhere See she flies all around So look see the sights The endless summer nights And go play the game that you learnt From the mornin
Very beautifully performed with great talent! It lifts or rises, like the light of dawn, the sun of morning! Nick was such a genius! This should have been on his album too!
Thanks Benson-that's really nice to hear. I just touched up the tuning before recording this and I'm still apprehensive about my tuning abilities so I'm glad it sounded alright.
One of my goals in life, before I croak, is to somehow play - if only passably - a tune on the piano. I do hope I get the opportunity. Please know that what you do is a great gift. You heal people, though you will never meet them. You inspire them, though you will never teach them in person. Thank you so very much. Please know that what you do is very special. Thank you. And I agree with one of the viewers, that Nick would be blown away by your marvelous interpretations.
@@heavypiano Sure! It's really awesome! I play the piano too.. i don't have the technique to play the way you do but surely you are an inspiration.. i'll start yo practice this piece and make it better with time. Send you a big hug! Thank you very much again!
Great post as always :) I was wondering can you cover Tom waits? There are many pieces specially written for piano. Such as -broken bicycles, rain birds , drunk on the moon etc. Would be great to listen your version.
Hi John. I used a 2x4 with a couple of braces and soft clamps to create a mounting point, then a few pieces of spare aluminum and a mic clip to mount the microphones in the middle. Hope that helps!
Great video and performance! Can i ask what your input chain looked like for this, and did you use something like a cloudlifter to boost the fatheads? thanks!

He was such a fantastic emotive poet.

@@dimasmayda8021 Play from the heart and keep on working at it! I wish you the best in your musical endeavors.
I'm impressed by the sound quality you're getting out of those Fatheads. I'm looking for a nice mic pair for my upright.
Did you found right microphones for your piano?
Great musicians
Thanks, Isabella.
Oooooh, I like this one..
Thanks, Rewind Remix.

Thanks. Sure, I'd love to cover Tom Waits-I'll add it to my list.
I have a pair of fatheads... can you explain to me what you used to mount the hardware to your piano?

@@heavypiano awesome! thank you for sharing and for the quick response. Best wishes to you.
May I ask if you are using preamps here? I’d like to emulate this awesome sound.
sehr schön

Thanks Tom!

mdutch426, thanks. If memory serves correctly the Fatheads were just run directly into the H6. Didn't have to use a Cloudlifter or anything.
