My 2005 Town and Country wouldn't shift in hot weather after driving a while, (P0700 code) so I went into the fuse box and replaced the EATX Safety Shut Down Relay for $20. Problem solved! Thanks, Occam's razor!
Just did the outlet speed sensor job today it’s very tight down there, but I got it replaced eventually. the inlet sensor between the two transmission cooling lines and the solenoid itself is for another day! I appreciate the video it gives me an understanding! Also I’ve got this random small hose, I think you mentioned it goes underneath the battery tray, I have no idea. It just fell out while working on the sensor
Nice job explaining all aspects of The solenoid pack. I had code po 768 relay was bad. I put solenoid pack in it as well and ran another ground. All works good now.
I will be doing the same thing on mine. Got a 700 and 750 codes and won't shift, but can drive at 30 mph just fine. Thanks for telling us the wrench and socket sizes! I'll post below if it all worked. The 2005 has different stuff down there compared to other years.
@@jasonlightbearer335 no, it’s still the same way don’t drive it . I’m almost certain it is the the valve body has a bad shift solenoid . Meaning need to replace the valve body(shift solenoids). I just lost interest.
If your having trouble with it shifting into gear. Try cleaning off the sensors. There magnetic and shards of metal that clug them. I bought one and realized there was more to wut needed to be done. Going to drop the pan n put fresh ATF+4
I've now changed my spark plugs and wires, ran 3 bottles of fuel system cleaner through the gas tank, cleaned the entire air intake system... It's still jerking on shift. I think I give up, I'll try this. Haha I figured I'd do the more common things but to no avail. I'm not saying I regret doing all that, she obviously needed a tune-up I just wish it would have killed this problem at one point
It would be helpful to know if the van ran well after this big repair. I'd be nervous if I had to face this job especially when I saw that puddle of AT fluid where the solenoid control valve sits. It seems to be an area where you could easily contaminate the AT fluid that goes into the transmission itself.
On my 2002 dodge caravan with a 3.3 L all electrical harnesses we’re fine and The Rock changing the input and output sensors the solenoid and the TCM to no avail. The transmission was in a limp mode on second gear. My next step is to change the main computer I was told . I haven’t changed that yet. Nobody has any solid answers for me.
Issues solved: broken/frayed wired under the factory black tape wrap of the TCM plug. Check those wires very carefully. They literary rust out and break. Once I changed three broken wires, ran perfect. Used wires from an eBay cutoff tcm wiring harness for $20. Very easy fix.
@@wildestcowboy2668 the TCM and the wire harness are under the driver, front side wheel. Well housing. One screw takes off the harness and unwrap the factory, electrical tape and check the wires. Visually white powder corrosion on the wires indicate broken wires.
When in limp mode it starts off in 2nd gear and never shifts It will limit you to about 35mph. Best to drive slower than that so you don’t have high RPMS for a long time. Limp mode is to get you home or to a mechanic. Good luck getting it right.
2005 dodge caravan plenty of transmission fluid no noticable leaks was shifting hard in gears when on highway and shifting in higher gears . Today suddenly it won't go into first gear and acting like it wanted to shut off . I assumed that it was in lump mode because the speed exceeded the amount for the gear I was in . Going to try this and see what happens . Single mom haven't had this even three months and I can't afford a truffling shop that will take advantage of me and charge me insane amount for a simple repair . I always get over charged and Told repairs that didn't need to be done . I know I am a woman and men feel like we are ignorant when it comes to cars . But I know what is going on I just do not have tools or ability to do repairs . So to no avail it goes to the shop and I get fcked everytime . Hey guys, I’ve had a similar issue with my van (2001) 3.3litr v6 I noticed that when I was driving, the van was stuttering and it seemed like it didn’t want to drive nor break and I was only going about 35-45km. I pulled to the side stoped and turned it off for about 5 mins then I started it drove normal for the first few seconds then it was stuttering again and wouldn’t go past 20-25km so then I turned it off and parked it, after leaving it turned off for awhile I started it and it cranked but then turned completely off in about 20 seconds , then the engine was stuttering and it seemed like it wanted to go but kept on stuttering the muffler was giving out some weird sounds…maybe bad fuel pump? Transmission gone bad ? ….if anyone can point me in the right direction on what to do….I would grateful appreciate it
My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan will not shift into any gear first thing in the morning. After letting it sit running for 15 minutes it will engage, drive about 10 ft and disengages. Let off gas and step back on, rpms go up and then it catches. Will do this for about the first 15 minutes of the drive and then drives fine. Does the same in the afternoon after sitting all day at work.
@@ryedog4308 I was miss reading the transmission dip stick, I was low on tranny fluid because of a pan gasket leak so I put some trans fixer fluid in and topped it up. problem solved for now !

How do we test sensors and relay?
