  • Enzo Maresca's Chelsea era has began. With Chelsea players slowly arriving back to Cobham for pre - season, Enzo Maresca has already got the players out on the field and with his hands on tactical approach, Chelsea players are already beginning to learn what is expected of them with Enzo Maresca as their new manager.

    George, that is awesome that you are coming out to the United States for the Chelsea preseason tour. I have always enjoyed your passion and analysis for Chelsea Football. I will be going to their preseason game at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA against Wrexham. I live in nearby San Jose, CA. I would recommend staying near Levi's Stadium as traffic can get pretty bad on Wednesday nights especially along nearby Highway 101 and the 237 Freeway. Chelsea will also host a get together the day before at The Brit in Downtown San Jose on Tuesday, July 23. It is advertised through the Chelsea FC website. I won't be able to make it but the fans would love to meet you. I hope to see you at the game!

    Maresca is a top tactician.
    They are now trying to sign players who can do tricks/skill moves, capable to play tiki taka passes, proper short small technical ballers. Chelsea’s future is bright. They are becoming a great team.
    Chelsea fans can enjoy beautiful and entertaining football for the first time in their life. I’m so happy that they can finally be treated properly by their club.

      Not true. Wenger didn’t do much tactics. Maresca is a proper tactician.
      Barcelona and ManCity won everything with beautiful football. So it’s not that if you play that kind of football, you won’t win.
      And also, if football is just about results, then everyone in England should all support Man City. There should be zero fans for Villa, Brighton, Newcastle and all other teams.
      If you have a choice on which club to support, and you spend 200 hours per year watching football, you would not want to watch boring stuff. Even if that team wins everything, you would never support them if they play boring, direct, defensive, long ball, park the bus, kick and rush, fossil, prehistoric, anti football because that is 200 hours of your life each year.

Good players and good managers prove themselves at the highest level, not in the Championship or Brazilian league. • @not_harrymaguire
    @not_harrymaguire 14 дней назад +3

    While I am optimistic, there are still quite a few pieces to figure out in Maresca's system.
    A) Who inverts? We obviously know Cucurella and James can play this role from their respective sides, but you lose something defensively if you put them both in instead of another CB.
    B) What do we do with Mudryk? Cant play LW in a possession heavy side without an overlapping FB, so maybe shift him to the right as Maduake's insanely expensive backup?
    C) Who plays the sweeper role? Enzo asks one CB to come up and challenge like an old school stopper and the other to stay home like a sweeper. The stopper part is easy; you have Tosin/Colwill/Disasi/Badiashile that can all do this. The only "sweeper" I see is Fofana, and he's coming off an injury.
    D) Can Rob Sanchez do literally any of the the things the system asks him to do? I haven't seen it. Think we need to dip into the market here.
    E) Where does Nkunku play? No obvious position, maybe switching between LW and CF (Enzo likes a false 9 when there is no numerical advantage in the middle of the pitch as an outlet).
    F) Do we sell Sterling, Gallagher, and Chalobah? I can't see any of them being starters, and the 100M or so they'd bring in (plus huge wages from selling/releasing Ziyich, Kepa, Lukaku, and Sterling) could allow us a ton of flexibility next January/summer to cover inadequacies that present themselves (injuries, unhappy or underperforming players, etc).
    This is what happens when you constantly chop and change system and strategies, so hopefully we arent dealing with this again for another few years.

    • @not_harrymaguire
      @not_harrymaguire 14 дней назад +1

      @attaahselase1003 what worries me is not the problems; we crept into 6th and have a new manager and system, of course there are issues to resolve.
      What concerns me is I only see us linked with attackers. We scored 77 goals with no system playing hero ball, and we add back Nkunku. We don't NEED another young, wide attacker.
      We need a GK and an experienced CB. If something interesting presents itself I'm fine to upgrade elsewhere (for instance, if we could get Osimhen for 50M +Lukaku and his wages aren't insane, then we do it). But at some point we have acknowledge much of our struggle was defensive shape and injuries. So, go fix that first.

    George we have been through all this before, we had a good pre season last season and as soon as the Prem kicked off all change. Poch was woeful for most of the season then managed to play like they did in pre season and it clicked then he left the club by mutual consent, imo he stopped being a yes man.
    The question you should be asking is 'how much of a yes man is Maresca?' we will find out when the season starts proper.
    You want an honest appraisal of Maresca? Talk to Leicester fans and there are many that were not that impressed especially towards the end of season. You keep saying what a top manager Maresca is, Lampard did the same if not more with Derby, is he a top manager George? After all this time we still haven't got a striker who knows where the goal is, if the Toney rumours are true we should be going all out for him.

    I don’t think Poch was ever the top choice. We just settled on him because no other good managers were available at the time who saw our vision.

    Chelsea played better when Enzo was off the field. So he should be showed the door before the iron turns black.

    Question for everyone here: how is it that everyone has ignored Pep's words: "Cole Palmer ask to leave for two years". Is this Palmer's last year at Chelsea?

      If we continue losing then he's definitely going to demand a move away. He's a player who should be playing in the UCL, something we can't offer him right now.

    This is the difference between poch and enzo. By watching the videos of the training sessions, you can see that enzo is passionate about developing the players. However, if we see the videos of poch's training sessions, he just stands their and do nothing. And I think we made a good decision of firing poch.

    But need to reduce squad, even if it means losing a little money.

    I don’t know why and i can’t explain my feeling, but i really think Enzo is the one. There is just something about him that i think is perfect for chelsea. He looks like he knows what he’s doing and i think everyone will regret they laughed at chelsea for several seasons. Drop a like if you think the same :)

    Soon we will be calling for this Coach to be sacked after some few games, Man City will smash us , I don't see any good signing that could match the big guns......to win a single game it won't be easy.......we are finished with this New Owners.

    Tosin is experienced, but KDH is still second rated because he didn't shine in his previous season in the Premiership. Ndidi was the star and he is now avail as a free agent.
