That's a reasonable question: I found another RUclipsr Comment (drummer) that describes Ginger's playing generally in more technical terms: "I don't know if non-musicians can hear it, but a drummer can hear how Ginger's feet kept solid, metronomic time while his hands were switching between various time signatures / using polyrhythms. The man was amazingly gifted and talented."

There is something absolutely unique about how Jack Bruce projects his voice, how he approaches each note, his phrasing, I don't know enough technically about singing to analyse or explain it, but to me among rock vocalists he just stands out, every time (like now) I get a Cream song in my head to listen to it is Jack's haunting, wordly wise vocals that draws me in
Are you silly ,, you think Clapton Bruce & Baker needed Felix ?? What did Felix do after cream that tells the story ?? Felix contributed but did not make cream shine or sparkle
@@motherlessblues1565 Felix arranged the studio songs to fit the album format. If he hadn't, it would have been one long jam. Cream was an improvising jam band.
Baker lays down a continuous barrage through out, with superb precision, and musical acumen. If you can tune out Jack's superb vocalization, and just listen to the drum track.
We would never have had Delaney, Bonnie and Friends, Blind Faith, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, nor Ginger's Air Force, etc, etc. Lighting in a bottle. Glad we caught it while it lasted.
Sadly, Clapton couldn't keep the needle out of his arm, and thank God he's clean now, but Jack and Ginger are gone, and Cream is only a faded memory of what could have been......
It is actually pretty miraculous that the band even got together at all or lasted much longer than the first rehearsal. Clapton recruited both separately unaware that they hated each other violently, as in literally violently. They obviously must have respected each others musicianship and the music was great which was enough to keep them together for a while, but it was never going to last long. Just be glad Jack and Ginger put the ego and the animosity aside long enough to create magnificent tracks like this.

They accomplished what music/art needed them to do. You don't have a clue what the popular music landscape(teen ballads , Beach Boy /prom date tosh)WAS before their emergence.
Music back then was just ….. better
The tuned bells make it unique. Long live Ginger Baker. Those were the days.
I heard once that Felix Pappalardi played the bells in this track

@@rubensjunior8586 Yes, Felix added special touches on the studio sides of this album.
Felix played bass for Mountain.
Keith Moon was always my favorite rock drummer --- but, damn, Ginger Baker was a close second.

Ginger Baker lays down a super human barrage of precision and virtuosity on this track, that is unmatched. Plays the drums as a lead instrument.
From the first moment I heard Cream became an instant fan & will be a Cream fan forever , just the best ... R.I.P Jack Bruce .
The kind of song which the more you listen to, the more you like.
What a unique approach to playing drums - I don't think many drummers could do this.

Certainly one of my favorites Cream songs. Pity it was never a hit or was it ever performed live.
My favorite too.
It was the flip side of another Cream A-release. Can’t remember which one.
Flip side of “White Room.”
As someone born in ‘97 whose favorite band is Cream, it’s crazy to me that this could be released and not become a hit 🤯

My favorite song of my favorite band of all time.
This is as classical as blues rock gets!

those were the dqys yeah, living in LA IN THE 60'S AND 70'S you had to be there, it was definitely a good time!!
1st heard this on Heavy cream only on vinyl. Loved it with the swiss hand bells, sadly never got transferred to CD. but still one of my favourites.
RIP Ginger Baker 2019

hello sir. how are you doing since you posted this comment? i like the bells too lol
I feel like they're less prominent and the bells are more in this mix.
Those bells takes this song to the skies.
