Steve these are all fabulous shots!! I could honestly have any of them and I think I would really enjoy them!! I love Fernet and all of these combinations are terrific! The only spirit I haven't had is Malort! I have to try it! But the rest of the shots feature combinations that I really love!! Usually we just have shots of schnapps (himbeer) after dinner that the in laws but how do you prefer to have the Marillenschnaps?
@@StevetheBartender_ It's similar with Marillen(=apricot)Schnaps, which is often drunk as a digestive after having a meal.
That said, with Austria being a quite boozey country - we literally have regions named after wine or must (not sure if it's the right term; it's similar to wine but made from apples or pears and it's not quite as refined as Cider) - it definitely is not limited to just after a meal.
Particularly in more private settings and particularly with people who have already acquired a certain taste (meaning you don't usually see 18 year olds down them or you don't see Marillenschnaps in clubs) there often comes the switch from lighter drinks to Schnaps.
As for Marillenschnaps in particular, it's probably the most common kind. There's also a region in Austria called "Wachau", which is famous for both it's wine and it's apricots, which is definitely a reason why Marillenschnaps is the most common if you live anywhere near that region.
Pear Schnaps is also quite common.
And I'm sure you probably know this, but Schnaps is usually served at (close to) room temperature rather than cooled or even iced because apparently this is better for the taste overall and actually catching the notes in taste.
