I came here after years passed since i've seen what seemed like an invented beast by the Teen Wolf creators, but i was wrong, i think, i have spotted the same beast in an french vampire anime named The Case Study of Vanitas, episode 12 of season 1. Very weird it actually is a based folktale creature in France.

it is not folklore, the beast was very real and had a credited kill count of at least 130 people. No one knows exactly what it was but the most accepted theory is an abnormally large wolf or adolescent lion.

I'm french, i've been in Gevaudan (which is now called "Lozère", it's a part of France) and i've heard the stories about the Beast when I was younger, I was fascinated by it! The reality is that during the 17th century, in Gevaudan, 130 people were killed by what seemed to be beast attacks. Then came the legend of the Beast, a large wolf killing a lot of people. In reality, it could totally have been multiple wolves, or even wild dogs, or some theory have it that it was a lion or another beast that escaped. Whatever the truth is, this myth inspired a lot of stories here, we have multiple books, movies, songs or shows that take inspiration from the Beast of Gevaudan !

True, actually it's based on a Real story ... During the 18th century were some Wolfs ate a lot of people in Gevaudan.
