$229.96 + $27.00 (to FL) shipping, when it was available in late December. Beautiful guitar. Thanks for your detailed review. I bought this guitar. It's visually stunning and plays really well. I don't recall this guitar being available for long before it sold out.
I love everything about my firefly's I can tell you I changed out my stock firefly pickups in my black beauty and put my Dragonfire screamer pick-ups in it and I made a huge mistake! because the stock firefly pickups sounded way much better out of my amps 😂.. way to go Firefly! Great video FSB!! How a valute on for under 300 bucks! 😆
Iought a 1-6 Double neck "Firefly" I changed out the strings, . I did wait a day or 2 , maybe a week before I made any neck adjustments. I'm in the middle of the Desert of New Mexico, No Humidity. . The guitar plays GREAT. For under $400 for a 12-6, I love it.
I have one of the Chibson's and was VERY surprised at how good it plays and sounds. The only problem I have with it is the neck dimensions, it's a quarter inch thicker (feels like the Tomy Iommi custom SG neck). Having gotten used to it, it is slowly becoming my main gigging guitar as I wouldn't be as upset if something happened to it as opposed to my actual Gibsons. I wouldn't mind having one of the Firefly's as my back up gigging guitar, the only thing that would turn me off is the rosewood fingerboard, mostly for aesthetics but I feel they make the sound a little less bright. I wouldn't mind test driving one of the Firefly Zakk Wylde models either. I think of the Firefly's as homage guitars like the Seiko's have watches the look and perform nearly as good as a Rolex but doesn't try to be a knock off.
I’m assuming the custom shop logo is similar to the Epiphone “custom shop” logo it just means special edition basically, I don’t think they actually have a custom shop making these guitars I’m just guessing though.. because I have a 2009 epiPhone SG 66 reissue and it says Epiphone custom shop limited edition on the back, but there is no Epiphone custom shop
@lugarner8493 (custom shop)simply means they have certain appointments and features that the normal versions do not. This is why it has all of the extra features over the other blue sparkle bursts. These upgrades are how they designate some of the customs built in the shop. Hence the term custom shop. It can be special paint, special cuts, special hardware, or a combination of everything. It is the way many manufacturers identify models that are more exclusive. Just because Gibson might send some guitars to a different part of the building, it's still a Gibson product, under the Gibson and roof. Epiphone does the same thing.
@@FultonStreetBeats on a sidenote, I love the channel, started watching last year when you were doing the showdown with the greenies and the sg builds .. as a fellow chibson supporter i highly appreciate your content 🙌🙌
I got roughly the same Chibson, but mine has the normal pickups and not the sparkly ones. Great Chibson. I also only paid $138.51 for mine off Team Moo. Hard to go wrong with that. I saw these firefly ones appear a few weeks ago on the site. I was tempted, but can't justify it when I have this good Chibson flavor already. My chibson, besides not having the sparkly pickups, is also slightly different than your. Standard frets that are stainless. Not balled end. The ends of the frets did have some edges I had to file off. For mine, the back cavity covers were not flush. The binding on the back does not actually wrap over the backside at all. The metal flakes in the finish on mine are only silver in color. They don't reflect a rainbow. The knob on my switch is chromed. If you want to know how I got the Chibson so cheap off Team Moo it's easy. They have these stupid daily coupon offer deals. Unfortunately you have to buy something at normal price for them to toss a bunch of coupons at you. Usually you have to spend 50. So I buy a decent guitar case for 50 and get a bunch of coupon codes. Most of the coupon codes require you spend over 100 and up to 500. However these codes are usualyl decent discounts of 30 percent off or more. Sometimes they stack too.
They might be trying to generate buzz, stimulate buying through FOMO, or even just avoid unsold inventory, but it works the opposite on me - when I can't find what I want, I move on and forget about that retailer or manufacturer.
nice guitar but i'm just afraid to get the ffsp. I don't like heavy guitars. I did get the FFVHST Fankie. It should be here this upcoming Friday. I did already get a couple of the FFVHST glossy version. Great guitars. Great sounding and playing.
That Chibson is a good looking guitar. So is the Firefly. I’ve said for years, don’t buy brand name custom versions. They really aren’t worth the cost for those who don’t have that kind of money to waste. I bought cheap. A used Squire HSS. Most important thing,, professional setup. Upgrades? Nut. Strings. After a year CTS pots. The next year. Tonerider Birmingham HSS set $120. The TSR3 and TSR4 Classic Blues single coils sound as good as Fender custom shop pickups but cost LOTS less.
I've had 5 Firefly guitars go through my hands, and I have been pretty impressed so far. Everyone needs to keep in mind that you can't even have a guitar body painted for what a complete FF guitar costs. They definitely are not perfect, but all of my examples have had extremely solid bones. They may need a spot fret level or nut slot adjustment, but I haven't seen any catastrophic issues at all. My last FFSP is hands down the most enjoyable LP style guitar I have ever owned. And that includes actual Gibson Custom Shop and ESP Standard series models. My Gibson Custom Shop LP Custom cost 20 times what my FF did, and it was a total turd I couldn't wait to get rid of. I have been playing since the early 80's and I've never seen such a value in a "budget" guitar.
I have 5 Firefly guitars and love them. Great value for the buck. I pitch them to friends all the time. I also have the Chibson Ace guitar. As much as i like Firefly, i like the Chibson better but Fierefly is a better product. The reason i have the Chibson is because Gibson has never offered the Ace guitar and, if they do, a regular joe like me cant afford it. Chibson is a way to have a cool looking guitar that 1 of your heros play without the cost. I would disclose its a fake if i ever had to sell. Its a novelty in almost every way. Plus the difference in monies, i think, is to have the Ace logo, signature, etc that Firefly cant do.
nice guitars and i have as called chibson guitars two James Hetfield Explorers the eet f*k and the snakebyte and they are great guitars never be a guitar snob my friends
The Chibson has the correct shape, the Firefly doesn’t, that alone is enough for me to choose the Chibson. I’ve seen these Ace Frehley guitars on eBay and I think it’s the only Chibson I think I would actually buy
@MichaelVician The custom shop designation is because the guitar has appointments that the previous blueburst sparkle does not. It is to set it apart from the others in the lineup. If Firefly wants to design a guitar as a custom shop model, than thays what it is. We can not argue that it is not when FF says it is. While this might not be your idea of what a custom shop guitar is. It is Fireflys idea of what it is. This is not a Chibson. This is its own legitimate brand. And that's the key to the designation not being fictitious.

They do the drops in the middle of the night. I usually check at 3:30 am when I wake up to go to work. And sometimes I even miss stuff. There is a blood in the water type of feeding frenzy with these guitars sometimes.

Always great videos Mike. You're basically an expert on these subjects now.
I purchased the same Ace Frehley firefly it's a beautiful guitar. It sold out fast and I got lucky to get one.

@ElvisPretzel-rv3bg Thanks my brother Elvis! . A lot of features for a low price, is something FF does well.

wow man that would have been so cool to get one of those ......bad ass!!!
Very nice Firefly Ace guitar it looks and sounds great. I like the shape of the headstock on the Firefly.
I agree. I think they did a good job of being themselves. Thanks for stopping over Nick.
@@FultonStreetBeats, you’re welcome Mike.
Another great video! I wish they still haven’t Stevie Ray Vaughan model still in the stock
I own a few Firefly ML copies that are badass
I’m hoping they will make an angus young guitar I got the Toni iommi one it’s on its way.
Dang Firefly is hitting home runs these days.

The new Zach Wylde model is pretty slick
How and where do I buy one. It will go great with my Gene base ax
Mike, do you think they will have any lefty’s at any point
I hope so. I know a lot of people ask. I hope they listen.

Still looking for the 2025 blue firefly Ace Frehley one.
Beating a Chibby? No way!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Honestly, that´s a great looking guitar. I will do my best to get hold of a FF.

The Fireflys sell out because people buy them and set on them until the stop selling them and then they sell them for twice the price on reverb .
