I was 15- homeless- and an addict. I went to rehab- watched Gia movie and it taught me what i needed- a lesson- guidance. It made me sort myself out- find myself before what she went through happens to me. Her dieing has helped more kids- more addicts than people think. Gia was another abandoned kid who danced with the devil to feel something. Alot of us do. She wanted to be Wanted- Love- Accepted- BEAUTIFUL- LOST SOUL- NEEDED GUIDANCE. I would have loved to met GIA- and talk to her on- Real Note. Thank you Gia for awaken me- telling- and guiding me. R.I.P. GIA 💚

If you listen to Linda in interviews she down plays their relationship a lot and says it was not mostly romantic. She said she was also dating guys the entire time. The 10 year age gap and the fact that Gia was always looking for a mother figure after her mom left her family doesn't convince me that she was gay exactly. She was a young woman who wanted a mother and didn't want to be alone. She was very childlike in Sandy's own recollections and she said that she never asked Gia very deep questions or she would know more about her and exactly what she was struggling with and doing. If you are in a serious relationship, you ask those questions. The movie greatly exaggerated their relationship and put a move obvious romantic angle on it then there was in real life. It is false to label them as some iconic lesbian couple after the fact. Maybe she was gay or bi and maybe she was just a damaged young woman looking for a mother figure in Wilhelmina and Sandy. Anyway is fine but the truth is the best way to really know a person and who they really are deep down.
Yeah, Gia dated men according to the book and it doesn't appear that she ever wrote anything in her journals about them like she did about women. One of her ex gf's said, Gia did not take sleeping with women lightly but she took sleeping with men lightly". It would have been interesting to hear their perspective on her personality that is, since everyone has something different to say. I do believe that she preferred women but I also think there could have been confusion and doubt because of being abused and/or the time era and anything went or so it seemed. Some of her ex gfs had bfs at some point and Gia either got mad, or interrupted them or took the ex gf and drove off with her. Gia was so beautiful but her self portrait she drew herself without hair, a question mark in the middle of her forehead, she gave herself one eye, the form was half man half woman, near her private area was male and female stick figures holding hands, and the form had very broad shoulders like Gia did, a broken heart, track marks on the right arm and bullet points about how she felt and things that happened to her in her life next to the portrait.
Yup, more so than people saying she reminds them of James Dean. I'd also say a little mix of Richard Greico and Colin Farrell too. The dark brooding good looks.
