So adorable. When Lady jumps and her back is to us, she looks like one of the muppets.

I have a pot-filler above my stove. Game changer. When we built our home 25 years ago, it was the one thing I insisted on having. My plumber didn’t even know what it was when I tried to explain it to him. (Very rural community).
I keep a large garden and “can” my produce/meats/etc year round. The pot filler has been a life saver. I use it every day.
I, too, have a kitchen sous chef (Labrador retriever) that sits by my feet and stares at the floor WAITING for something to fall. She is full of all the hopes and dreams of the multiple turkey trimmings she enjoyed over Thanksgiving. It’s my favorite part of cooking these days.

For some reason I also handwash dishes despite having a dishwasher almost all my life. Didn't think about it previously but I guess I find it relaxing too

I agree about the farmhouse sink. We remodeled a previous house and I thought similarly and put in a farmhouse sink and while it was sometimes convenient, I definitely prefer a split sink as I feel it’s easier to wash dishes. I also prefer to hand wash my dishes because it just gets it done right away. I differ in opinion about where to put the dirty dishes. I ask my family to wash them right away or if needed put them inside the sink to keep the countertops free and clear until I get to them. I think it just keeps my kitchen looking neater and better until they are washed.

Something I like about my kitchen is having a pantry and my staple system so whatever I'm in the mood for I can mostly make it on the spot. The way your refrigerator and cupboards are together looks like a handy feature.

I so agree about the split sink. Did a recent serious kitchen refresh, and I purchased a new sink and kept the split design for the similar reasons you mentioned.

I have an unfitted kitchen. I first complained about its small size but after working in it for a while, it turned out to be the best, most efficient kitchen I have ever had. Everything is reachable in under 5 steps; some things all I need to do is just turn around and it is in reach. All I needed was patience in figuring out how to organize it. It is now my favorite room. My split sink is great (we even brought it from our old home!). We stack dishes (rinsed after each meal) in one side of the sink, then wash in the other side, dry & put away, also after each meal.

This is the same way I wash dishes, I like that feeling of warm soap water! Never really use the dishwasher.

I am glad you mentioned the split sink. We just are just finishing a kitchen renovation, and I went back and forth about a split sink and a farmhouse style. I am grateful I chose a split sink. If we are not careful, we can be influenced by so many things like you mentioned in your last video. I am the lady of my home, and I focused on astestics, but really, what is functional and will last. Thank you for sharing.

I've been debating on if I want to use the dishwasher or not because the blades and trap need washing, you have to refill the water softener and the gaskets need attention so they don't get dirty. They're housework too. I like my old split sink but I have heard a con to the large sinks is some of them have angular corners that get stuff stuck in them and with some of those sinks being flat they don't drain the same and leave waterspots? I could see them being aggravating.

As soon as my children got tall enough to reach I had them start washing their own dishes. Any dish they used got washed by them. This has really helped with the dish clutter. I do have on boy who is always "soaking"his dishes. That's a struggle.

I went from a modern kitchen of our own design, with a dishwasher, to a tiny open kitchen with a split sink and no dishwasher, except me! I also like washing my own dishes, although with the open concept, I have to do it often to keep it looking tidy. I was interested to see your artichokes... Brittany is the artichoke-growing area of France, and we eat them with a homemade salad dressing, one leaf at a time. I didn't know of too many people who ate them in Toronto when we lived there. How do you eat them? ps. I'm really enjoying your daily videos!

I agree on the split sink . I was also was tempted to get a farmhouse one but opted for the split one! One other major thing I LOVE about my kitchen is NOT HAVING the sink on the island. I feel that is such a horrible thing with having dirty dishes where you might be entertaining. I don’t mind having a mini sink but the main sink should never be on the island. I feel.

I have a split sink and love it; however, we do not have a dishwasher by choice. The sink is a white porcelain drop-in. I wanted something similar to farmhouse style when we remodeled 23 years ago. The dishes can be washed and put away before we go to bed at night.

I’ve had a split sink for over 20 years. Currently building a house to retire to. I decided NO split sink because we never really used it correctly. My family of 5 always just washes the dishes and put the clean ones in the side sink and just left there for storing later. Lol.

I've started handwashing my dishes again. When we were growing up, my mother would wash and my sister or i would dry. The perfect time to talk. When we grew up and mother was an invalid, my sister would wash and i would dry and talk.. Good times

Hi Nikki we have a split sink with a black glass draining area on the side. I love our sink, but my husband has taken over washing the dishes. We have a dish washer but he likes to wash them. I would rather do it. I laughed when l saw Lady jumping up and down, she is just too cute. Thanks Nikki❤❤

Washing dishes by hand is (one of) my therapy. I love the sudsy warm water, the rhythm of the movements of my hands, time alone with my thoughts. Never ever I get interrupted!
A double sink with a dish drying cabinet above has been mandatory over here for decades, and only later I have seen the transition to one little sink because of dishwashers becoming a new standard. I hate dishwashers, they are just one more thing to be cleaned!
I usually keep a small rack in the other of the sinks.
