Donnington Park TrackDay 24/05/2022 - Fast Group - Session 6

This is my first Track day in the fast group and a great example of how to not ride around Redgate and consistently miss the apex and mess up your corner exit!! I think I was taking the wrong line and possibly too much speed into the corner to turn in time.

Thanks Abhi, that’s part of the reason I bought this bike. I rode on the back of an older 3 cylinder Daytona when I was a kid in secondary school and just mesmerised by the sound. Funny how you were listening to it while you work 😂 I am off to Donington this weekend to watch WSBKs, then I have a loud No Limits trackday on Tuesday at Donington so you’ll have some more music to listen to shortly!!

@@ChasingTenths yes if it stays dry, there should be a good amount of grip especially on the K1 rear and SC1 front. It would be great to meet up on track mate one day and I am sure we will at some point.

Hi what camera are you using and how do you get all the overlays on the video? Really nice quality and sound 👍

Hi Tom, I use a GoPro hero 8 black with stabilisation and gps turned on, I then load the GoPro files into a piece of software called ‘Telemetry Overlay’ and this will also render the video and add the gauges etc

Hi Samo, yes as long as the GPS setting is turned on in the GoPro setting it records all the data in the gopro video files

Hi Trackday G, how do you find the fast group at your pace? New to trackdays and done 5 now all this year, I have a video from inters and running 1:50 - 1:54 lap times on RS11 but slicks next which may improve that slightly but similar laps to you, don’t want to be the guy to say I ride advanced group just for an ego!

Hi James, Sorry I have only just spotted your comment.
I would say I am in the bottom 30 percent in terms of pace in the advanced group, but I prefer that because in the intermediate group I am constantly overtaking people and having to go off the optimal lines all the time, which doesn't always help to improve my riding and I tend to pickup bad habbits by doing so. I am running Supercorsa SC1 or Metzeler K1's with tyre warmers and they work great, haven't tried slicks yet.

I was doing international layout (Melbourne etc) in 1:42 on a standard R1 back in 2006. That pace was fine if no BSB guys using the day for practice. These days I’d say the pace is going to be 1:30s to 1:40s to be safe in the fast group.
