I think its more of a classic rather than a cult following. I enjoyed it, and I didn't even know about it being rushed out of production. It wasn't that scary but the premise was pretty cool. I would watch a new version of it in a heartbeat.
Like ghosts or something? Yeah, even though I didn't like the last 30 minutes that much, I did really like the first half and the atmosphere. I would definitely pay to see a sequel or remake in the theater based on the potential I saw in this movie
@@moviesarespiritual naw its not official cannon tho. But the warp is basically that. Its hell. And when ships come back that didnt have a gellar field or it failed it was full of demons too.
You do know that this is considered to be a secret prequel to Warhammer 40000? Those people clearly visited the Warp. A stranded spaceship believed long lost suddenly reappears full of utterly mad crewmembers would be clue enough, but the spiked-star design of the jump-drive ist straight out of Warhammer 40Ks "Chaos"-factions guidebooks. Its a whole thing, I have no Idea why the directors of mad max and event horizon havent come together and created more standalone movies which just happen to accidentaly form a warhammer cinematic universe.
@@moviesarespiritual yeah I had no idea what I was walking into. And it was the same year Sam Neil was in The Lost World:Jurassic Park, so it was strange seeing him literally go to hell.
I think people like it because it throws out ideas that are interesting and allows you to fill in the blank for what you think it is. And for a movie that got treated like crap in production it’s actually still pretty damn good considering the movies we get today where they cost hundreds of millions of dollars and aren’t even half as good as event horizon
That makes sense. I do feel really bad for directors who work hard on a movie and have a vision, and then the studio tells them to wrap it up without enough time to finish it the way they envision

@@jamesrizza2640 I would really like to see a remake if that were to happen! Cool concept
i watched this when i was 7, scared the shit out of me then
@@jeggsy222 wow that would have terrified me at that age!!!
In the Warhammer 40k universe they call this “commuting to work”
The way i took it was the hallucinations were dead and being used in a fashion to torment the living...but who knows a sequel or remake would help lol

Event Horizon is in the 40k Universe. They crossed over to the warp.
Gella Fields havent been invented yet.
Is that from the game Warhammer?

That's a cool concept, I can see the connection!

Ah that's what I was wondering based on the comments here! I wonder if the writers were Warhammer fans then?
@@moviesarespiritual based on a reddit post, one of the writers has confirmed to be a huge warhammer nerd, so the influence was definetely there.
@@gregorstrohman3619 ah! That's such a cool connection!
I actually watched both Ghostbusters II and Event Horizon on the same day. Now after you guys mentioned the connection, I might just do it again...
That's awesome! Yeah, I don't know if I would have noticed that connection without having watched both movies just a few weeks apart!
Saw this in theaters when I lived in Wyoming…Yes they had movie theaters in Wyoming in 1997.
Man I bet that was an experience in the theaters!

It really was! When he shows up with no eyes later it's really weird to see him like that after Jurassic Park!
@@moviesarespiritual man! He took a wrong turn somewhere!
