This young woman is very emotionally literate. You can see her immediate reaction to every emotional nuance that Dylan has put into this song - and there are so many, which is why he is such a genius. People tend to hear the anger and bitterness, but there is so much more in this young lady recognises it.
Actually, your interpretation is a pretty fair summary. I'm impressed. Must people walk away from that song after a first listen knowing it was about something really important but with no clear idea what.
Bob Dylan was the first artist I ever saw live back in 2006. his compositional skill is matched by practically no living artist. I would love to see you react to more of his music. maybe even a full album or concert. good job, and keep on with the reactions. I would recommend the songs It takes a lot to laugh, It takes a train to cry. Quinn the Eskimo. When I Paint My Masterpiece. and Not Dark Yet.
Well done, perfectly broken down. You seem to me to be a beautiful person both inside and out...bravo girl !!!! Seen Dylan 4 times and he never played this gem once the bastxxx...ha ha ha ha
Listen to the slower version on Bootleg 1-3 - some changed lyrics, acoustic guitar only, much more reflective, not so angry, his delivery is so different, such is his talent
I'm past 60 yrs. old and of the thousands of songs I've heard in my life this has long been #1. There's so much passion in his singing, so much hurt in the lyrics I can't help but feel for him. It's apocalyptic, full of metaphors such as "You leave me standing in the middle of the air." I've seen him perform twice in person, the 1st time wasn't very good but the 2nd was incredible (but not as good as this one from '76). His wife was watching too, that must have stung. The original lyric was "One day you'll be in the ditch," not "in the grave." Just one of the tweaks he threw into this performance. Another is "I can't even touch the books you've read," he changed to "the clothes you wear." People who say he can't sing never heard or saw this one. Mind blowing.
My brother turned me onto Bob in my teenage years. I’ve heard this song but I don’t know it well and I like it more now! I need to sit down with the lyrics but I will do that and return but thank you for paying close attention, Fay, and giving me the idea of what it’s about. Really enjoyed this!!
I kissed goodbye the howling beast On the borderline which separated you from me... they don't write them like that anymore. I watched this live on television (ABC) with my mom. Surprisingly, she didn’t hate it. I was 16, mom was 46.
we don't know what Christ looked like, The only clue we get is from the prophet Isaiah chapter 53, which says "He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nor special appearance that we should desire Him. This is Isaiah 53:2, a prophesy written around 700 BC, prophesying about the coming of Jesus Christ.
@@TommiBrem I agree, I was going to write something similar. Sonically that just blasted me in the face from this performance. Bob singing with no inhibitions, forcefully and strong.
Great song and great reaction. For some really great lyrics and storytelling you might like to try "Black Diamond Bay" by him. I think he has a unique way of rhyming.
That's also my favourite band that ever played with Dylan - though I don't even know who they are. It's fantastic having the pedal steel guitar up there with them.
I got this album in 1976. Despite the heartbreaking love story, I always thought that Idiot Wind is about the Media, how they manipulate with lies many times, how they hurt the ones you love, as Bob sings,,,, so its a wonder we still can be ourselves....The vocal delivery is to me the best ever... Dylan at his best... thanks

I interpreted the song to be about the difficulty of learning mathematics, and that, when making a sandwich, it's crucial to use the right amount of mayonnaise. Do you think my interpretation is correct?
Yeah....uhhhhh....it appears that you have some doubt? that Mr. Dylan had written THIS song.... Now, come on, you have to know that Dylan writes 95% of the songs he records & sings....I love your reaction if, you have never heard it but understand the poetry / arrangement is ALL BOB! By the way there are many, many, more tunes......
Probably the greatest ever live performance of any song...ever
Definitely the best performance of this concert
well ? look up tangled up in blue...........................................
Not probably, absolutely
Oh no , there is actually a mind blowing version from the 1975 tour where he looks absolutely possessed .
Search it out
Grateful Dead Dark Star 2-28-69. This is pretty good though

Thanks for sharing this info! glad you enjoyed my reaction. I will be sure to check out these suggestions
Definitely the greatest songwriter of all time and you are the smartest girl of all time for saying that 🙂. From a Dylan fan 👍 👏.....Lone Wolf :)
his music got me through life.
This is something you don't hear very often I guess.....this is poetry and rock n' roll togheter.
Well done, perfectly broken down. You seem to me to be a beautiful person both inside and out...bravo girl !!!! Seen Dylan 4 times and he never played this gem once the bastxxx...ha ha ha ha

True, this is mind-blowing. Thanks for sharing this info🙏
I've seen Dylan in concert 4 times now and every time I swear I hold my breath the entire show. He commands attention
Oh my! This is so powerful! Great vocals and passion!
True that 💯. Thanks for sharing this

You are welcome. You should thank your brother for introducing you to this legend😊
To answer your question, YES !
The studio version from the album is a more acoustic , mournful version. I love this raw live version though also.
I remember watching the show on tv from this concert tour. Also saw him 3 times. 78, 80 and 88 with Tom Petty. All different. All brilliant.
Wow! I envy you for this
I kissed goodbye the howling beast
On the borderline which separated you from me... they don't write them like that anymore. I watched this live on television (ABC) with my mom. Surprisingly, she didn’t hate it. I was 16, mom was 46.
I love the music but I love to look at that beautiful face and smile.
A wonderful reaction to a wonderful performance of a wonderful song. Well done!
Aww! Thank you 😍. Glad you enjoyed it
As a writer Dylan is on another level.
Bob looks Christ like.
we don't know what Christ looked like, The only clue we get is from the prophet Isaiah chapter 53, which says "He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nor special appearance that we should desire Him. This is Isaiah 53:2, a prophesy written around 700 BC, prophesying about the coming of Jesus Christ.
Definitely the greatest American songwriter of all time.
I'm not very familiar with Dylan's work. But, wow, he could write! 💖💖💖💖
True, such a great writer 🔥💯
His vocals are so strong in that period.
The way they sing the harmonies is astonishing, compared to his later years. At the same time, it's all very raw and broken up. The energy is insane.
True that, such a good story teller🔥💯
@@TommiBrem I agree, I was going to write something similar. Sonically that just blasted me in the face from this performance. Bob singing with no inhibitions, forcefully and strong.
Yes, that's true. His voice was so powerful. Great performance!
A lot of people say Blonde on Blonde is his best album, but if you've ever had your heart broken, you know it's Blood on the Tracks.
"The wind only blows what is exposed to it".
Great line and so true💯
A song that captures the rambling lack of emotional intimacy in life of perpetual impermanent change opposite
Habitual patterns of resistance
Wow.
Great song and great reaction. For some really great lyrics and storytelling you might like to try "Black Diamond Bay" by him. I think he has a unique way of rhyming.
Wow, I had no idea this version was on video. It was released on a Dylan live album some time ago, and it's my favourite version.
That's also my favourite band that ever played with Dylan - though I don't even know who they are. It's fantastic having the pedal steel guitar up there with them.
Does anyone know if they're nashville guys, like the guys on Nashville Skyline. The drums sound familiar.
Hard Rain, is the live Album, the first Album I bought by Dylan in 1977 in Calgary Alberta.
He sings songs with a storyline.very hard to write. Amazing I agree
Glad you feel this way 😊
Brilliant as always but he is really angry at this poor woman. One hell of a performance.
I like the idea of what he does, more than what he actually does.
I didn't get this 😊
@@africareact
He's much more a poet-philosopher; than a pleasant musician/singer to listen to.
Boy can spit words eh ? Blood on the Tracks is prolly my fave album of his. Not everyone agrees....
He sure can, I haven't watched songs from the album, actually ain't sure if I have but I am looking forward to watching more songs by him
@@africareact you have. Idiot Wind is on the album.
It's long been my fave - but if I dive deeper into some of his other albums, particularly the early ones, it might change...

Love your reaction videos of Dylan
🌹
Dylan was going through a nasty divorce when he wrote this song so it may or may not be about his wife.
Thanks for sharing this

Hi great reaction, could you please react to Bob Dylan's 'Murder Most Foul' from 2020 next please!!!!
Hi too Mark, Thank you, I am glad you loved it, I will be sure to check out this suggestion
react to jokerman plz
One I’ve clip I’ve never seen. Bob’s firing on this. Budokan performance, perhaps?
I didn't understand your question, come again please!
More likely the Rolling Thunder Revue tour

He looks a tiny bit like Zack de la Rocha here....
Not sure who Zack is will have to find out😊
The Album version is so much better, that is the on you should have listened to Africa.
