      Nice, and what region are you in? We are covered in snow here in NY. For a tasty way to prepare the leaves, you might like to check this recipe on my blog: Broiled-Crispy Garlic Mustard Greens iwww.botanicalartspress.com/blog/2015/4/18/garlic-mustard-root-horseradish

      @DinaFalconi I found a whole forest in Rampapo -N.J. last year, but the one I harvested recently is by George Washington Bridge...the park on the New Jersey / Hudson River region.

    Grind the seeds and add a little vinegar for a spicy salad dressing.

    I have been told that this plant also has some cyanide and blanching or boiling it would reduce this. Is that correct?

    • @DinaFalconi
      @DinaFalconi  Год назад +1

      Thanks, yes, heard this too. One research paper shows garlic mustard to contain trace, but perhaps concerning levels of cyanide. Would love to hear more about this. www.researchgate.net/publication/6651853_Cyanide_in_the_Chemical_Arsenal_of_Garlic_Mustard_Alliaria_petiolata Not sure if blanching or boiling reduces it. To the general public, please comment if you know more.

    Do you have more uses/recipes just for the flowers? Have a large amount to gather tomorrow.

      Hello Jennifer, I would add flowers to salads, herbal butters, and other savory dishes. If you come up with something, let us know.

    Love garlic mustard! I am carefully cultivating it in my yard this year to have for salads and sandwiches on demand! Thank you for the great info!

    This is great information and I hope it gives people incentive to remove garlic mustard because not only is it invasive, but the roots actually exude allelochemicals which change the soil quality and discourage other plants from growing. That being said, let's dig it up, eat it up, and get rid of this invasive species. More reading if anyone's interested on the effect garlic mustard has on soil quality:

      @@DinaFalconi If you put a sun hood on the lens and you are still getting massive lens flare then don't shoot into the sun. Was so bad I swear I was squinting while watching this.

      Thanks for your comment. Will share it with the crew. Although you obviously don't like it, we often go for creative shots / effects like the intro to this one, especially since we were not showing any plant details, and instead focusing on audio content. Thanks for your input.

      @@DinaFalconi It was very distracting and took away from the viewing experience. I agree that one could categorize lens flare as a type of creative shot, but I would recommend using creative effects more sparingly rather than throughout large portions of the video. Other than that the video was fine.
