I like hearing about the old CD sets and the old tech DJ's used. I played in bands all thoughout the 80's-mid 2000's, and DJ's were almost satanic in my view in those days. So now guess what, I'm the DJ (lol), and I'm playing catch-up on of the stuff I missed before controllers and laptops. It's all fascinating to me. Great channel. Thanks!
I use my android tablet as backup with Djay Pro as well. It's always plugged into my mixer on a spare channel, and I usually use it for background music playlist as well. It's intuitive to use and could perform an entire session with it if necessary.
10 Years ago I had a backup PC and Ipad but Today its only My Phone USB c adapter into the mixer with Spotify with a lot of playlists downloaded in OffLine mode If I need to reboot or If some request I dont have in HD comes. ....and I wish You a Happy New DJ Year
That's a good method. I use Denons with a 2tb external, built in wifi and a Alienware as a backup. I'm done with laptops and I think most djs should also move on from laptops. Unless they do karaoke but I rarely see the Pioneer fanboys doing karaoke
You can absolutely do that. It's a little more set up, but you get that piece of mind. What I can tell you is that I've only had to go to a back-up machine once in 20 years of gigging with laptops. It was a new machine that I had not properly tested. The turn-around from 1 machine going down to the back up was maybe 5 minutes during dinner & I don't think anyone noticed.
@@mixmastertoronto I personally play a lot of songs that are not on that list & my list in this video has some of them. That's a style that's always changing & developing as a DJ. Otherwise, we'd all sound the same. You have to start somewhere, though
what about using the usb charging port? My backup tablet doesn't have a headphone jack so I just got usb-c to RCA cable and have it plugged into aux input on the controller. As someone else mentioned you could also just go usb direct into usb 2 on your controller if it supports dual usbs.
Been using Traktor 3.0 for last 10 years after CDJ's/vinyls, one time payment of £80, free DJ Traktor App 1 & 2 versions on my ipad mini (you need a iPad of some sort for there app), use the entry level Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3 controller that I can plugin the ipad mini and use everything, all the functions from spinning the wheels to all effects, all of it, that was also a one time payment and comes with Traktor 3.0 if you don't have it, so if my main laptop goes belly up then I can switch over to the ipad mini. Have all the Now albums from the 80s to current day, that's all you need, if your doing American gigs can also find the country/USA ones etc.. I don't pay ANY SUBSCRIPTIONS for anything DJ related, period. Go the Traktor path people, do not waste your money on useless fluff and enjoy life! my two pennies. Peace.

My man broke out the DJ tools, holy shit hahahaha

I been playing with Djay on iPad Pro since 2018 .. love it . Just very capable software especially for video dj
Still a good list which ever way you slice it.

That works!!!

Good stuff BSR, thx for sharing. Always BACKUP
Eninem sampled that Steve Miller track that's kinda what brought it back.
Do you know if it's possible to hook that tablet up to an all-in-one controller for those that don't use a mixer?
It could go thru an AUX port, or directly thru powered speakers with the right cabling.
WOW DJ Tools, I still have mines somewhere LOL
good video BSR!
I feel you should set up your back as part of your set up. So you can just hit two buttons and you’re running off your back up in 3 seconds!

@ nice! Just simply plugging in another phone to your dual usb port on your controller with Djay on your iPad can save the day! 💪🏽
@@bboymac84 I guess I never thought of plugging it into the dual usb. I like that better than the current having it plugged into the aux input.
@ yea this way you can actually mix. Try it
Hey Brian thanks fir the video...Good Stuff! Do you have a link for the tablet you purchased?

I’m re-building my music library now. Would the mobile beat / DJ event planner top hits chart suffice to get started?
I think it's a good place to start.
How many songs outside of those charts would you play at a wedding.

Do i need a special program to run karaoke files?
I think the pro version does video, but you'd need an iPad to run it
What is the largest harddrive that these tablets come with? My total music is around 40gigs. I only carry tracks I need. Thanks
My iPad has 2TB, a lot of android tablets accept SD cards so storage limits are unto what you want to pay for.
Great. That now makes a good back up. Thanks
On many Android & Amazon tablets, you get 32-64 GB. However, you can Micro SD on mine up to 1 TB
That is perfect. Thanks!
My problem is many new tablet do not have a headphone jack out. Then you have to bluetooth, and then there is a lag.
Many will use the usb-c charging port as a combo headphone jack

🎧 = USB C adapter
Usb c adapter

That's the ultimate backup deal. IPad mini or iPhone with the old traktor s2 mk2.
