- Dame Gracie Fields, DBE (born Grace Stansfield, 9 January 1898 -- 27 September 1979), was an English-born, later Italian-based actress, singer and comedienne and star of both cinema and music hall. IT LOOKS LIKE RAIN IN CHERRY BLOSSOM LANE
(Edgar Leslie / Joe Burke) 1937
Buds wil soon be flowers
Birds will sing of spring
Now's the time when love
Should bloom for me...
It looks like rain in Cherry Blossom Lane
The sunshine of your smile's no longer there
It looks like rain in Cherry Blossom Lane
Your golden voice no longer fills the air
The rippling notes have left the old mill stream
There's nothing left for me but just a dream
There'd be no rain in Cherry Blossom Lane
If you were there to tell me that you care
I was named after this song--my parents favorite courting song, mom playing the guitar as they sang, I got to be Cheri Lane Avery, later with my married name Black I help people I meet to remember me with 'Black Cheri'. When my sister asked mom why they didn't name me Blossom, she was appalled, saying beccause that's a cow's name.

@@Flawgore Wow, thanks for your reply to my post 7 years ago. I had forgetten about it. Now I shall play "MY song" this morning. Have a great day. How did you happen upon this?
@@CD-nf6jd Hope you had a good morning. I was just listening to old playlists and this song came up on it so, I just thought I’ll type it in RUclips and this came straight up. So thank you for the upload and a pleasure to give you a reminiscing morning
Sir Roger Moore brought me here
Me too! How funny. Hearing him in the Bond compilation, I couldn't remember the lyric any more! LOL! Had to assure myself there was more to the song!
