@@abhilashsaha417 From an amateur to a professional..do one need to do daily water change in a discus tank? If so, what percentage of WC need to be done daily. If one's tap water has a tds of 500 ppm ( liquid rock ) what is the procedure of WC? Ofcourse RO is mandatory here but how do one prepare the parameters of water before WC in the display tank?

Ideal tds for discus is between 120 to 180 but since these are tank bred fishes discus can tolerate upto 300 ppm. If you have hard water ( Gh ) best is mix RO and tap water in fifty fifty ratio.

Frequently water changes mean changes of climatic conditions thus total ambience gt change.. in normal way can any living object sustain frequent changes of climate and all?

Water change depends upon the bio load of the tank...how many discus..how frequent and quantity of food given..ect. Discus requires good quality water..nitrates should not exceed 5ppm. Ammonia and Nitrite elevation is a death sentence to these fishes. Barebottom tank needs more frequent water changes as their is no substrate for beneficial bacteria to develop in the tank. It is more for the convenient and effortless maintenance of the tank for the fishes. Planted tank needs less frequent water changes ( more balanced in terms of beneficial bacteria) but it is more laborious and time consuming. maintenance. If the feed given to the discus is heart mix foods then substantial daily water changes is a must and mandatory as Ammonia spikes can take place if daily routine water change is not performed.
