@obibraxton2232 At the end of the day, you can simply prefer God of War for personal reasons. However, Red Dead Redemption 2 is objectively a more in-depth, detailed, and dynamic game that will captivate a wider audience and retain their interest for a longer period.
Gears of War came out in 2006, not 2007. 2007 was one of the best though. Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Portal, Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Rock Band, Crysis, Assassin's Creed, The Witcher, God of War II, The Darkness, Crysis, Metroid Prime 3.
The guy is one of the most “lost in the sauce”, people I’ve seen… Dude hardly knows anything about games yet has a gaming channel, where he constantly gets too much wrong
@AnotherGameNerd5u mean when he said 2020?? I think that was a mistake tbf but i get what u mean The amount of ppl watching him its rather important he gets his facts right.
i heard from a digital artist in youtube i think, he said Marvel Rivals is successful is because they give people what they want, a beautiful characters, not forcing players to play with some ugly arse dei characters like concord, and i couldn't agree more.
Lol the game STILL exist and be played free. But the weird thing is why they gave GOTY to an online multiplayer game that can changed throughout the year.
Cyberpunk got screwed by its own publisher. That game would've been a much stronger contender for Game of the Year if it had skipped last-gen consoles altogether and had come out November *2021.*
@bmsuperstar1the point of mentioning last gen is that the old hardware wasn’t worth the excess time they spent trying to optimize the game for it only to fail for a long time. If they skipped it then it probably would have come out way more polished.
COD4 was quite revolutionary at the time. People don’t feel that way anymore, maybe because it has become industry standards and so many other games used the same formula in the 20 years afterwards. Bioshock on the other hand is still one of a kind until today.
It is an asinine take, the only thing I will give COD 4 credit is from liberating players from the WW II FPS shooter era. It was COD 3 with modern weapons, the game that truly cemented COD legacy and really changed the industry was MF2.
Red dead redemption 2 not winning game of the year is the reason why i don't care which game wins goty anymore and I just watch game awards for game trailers
Nah. He did a boring nondescript American accent and played the traditional American trope of an Autist with hyper intelligence. That stuff makes me sick and the yanks are still churning that stuff out to this day. He was good in Blackadder though.
I had never played Dishonored or Prey until recently after hearing you guys praise them so much. I am so glad I did, no clue how I have had a blind spot for so many years
I hate Batman, never liked, probably never will, but i do LOVE Arkham series, i'm finishing Arkham Knight again after done the others, i don't know how many times i've finished all those games, personally i don't like Origins, but i always finish it in order.
I can say al lot of good about RDR2, the world is unmatched to this day, but it's not one of my favourite games, I was entertained as much as I was bored with it's huge open world, some things that made this game more realistic also made it more tedious
ed Dead Redemption 2 losing GOTY to God of War still feels like the biggest robbery in gaming. Both are masterpieces, but RDR2 wasn’t just a game, it was an experience that set a new standard for open-world immersion. Years later, nothing has topped it.
I don't think it was that big of robbery, like you said they were both masterpieces. The gameplay in RDR2 can be slow and janky to the point that some people just didnt enjoy it all that much especially when you compare it to the gameplay of GOW. Now Im not saying which is better but just outlining some people's perception on the matter to where RDR2 may have been better in a lot of aspects compared to GOW but gameplay was not one of them. And at the end of the day a game should be fun to play.
RDR2 was not a masterpiece. The story took a nose dive when they got stranded on the jungle island. You're lying to yourself if you think that part was great.
@warlock3691 no rdr 2 is definitely better than gow .. gow was not transformational or revolutionary where as rdr 2 was .. there are some part of ppl who may not like it like u ..but majority still say its a goat.. jst riding on a horse or jst walking feels that special in rdr2 ..ur the one lying to urself
Feels like a joke today. Only because of media biase towards Sony/playstation and because of journalists are really poor players that didn't play red dead 2 for long.
Having played both extensively, I prefer GoW. I preferred the RDR1 over 2 as well. The simplest thing in GoW of throwing your axe, and the feeling of it coming back like Thor's hammer, made me go after all the Valkyries after the campaign . RDR2 doesn't have something like that for me. Stopped playing the moment I finished it, and I'm a sad person that goes for platinums.
Falcon: I’m not going to be talking about any awards show other than The Game Awards and Spike. Falcon: Proceeds to talk about every single game award show known to man 😂
"I always appreciate Gameranx's love for Dishonored. It's a game that some consider very mediocre, while others rank it in their top 10 GOAT list (including me).
I played it on PS3 years back, and enjoyed it 🙂 I always thought it would have been better with a third person view option though - then you could've actually been able to see the upgraded gear your character was wearing 😅 Did Bethesda make that game? 🤔
It feels like people either love it or forget it. I always felt it was rather meh. Too restrictive. It was only fun when they let you go balls out but then you get punished for it. Left me angry at the design choices.
Still reeling from the idea that Modern Warfare, Bioshock, Gears of War, and Portal all came out in the same year. We really had no idea how great we had it.
Mass Effect, Halo 3, Uncharted, Metroid Prime 3, Team Fortress 2, Super Mario Galaxy, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Heart of Chernobyl, and Assassin's Creed all came out in 2007 too. Maybe the best year in gaming.
I usually agree with most of your opinions, but COD over Bioshock? No way!!! Bioshock all day. One of the best narratives for a first person shooter of all time.
@RP2024a is legacy more important than the actual game? Not trying to start an argument, it's just an interesting discussion. COD clearly was more influential. Was it a better game? I could sit on either side of this topic tbf.
I agree with falcon tbh, Bioshock is a GREAT narrative game with great gameplay, but COD 4 revolutionized the gaming industry for decades to come if that’s not GOT material idk what it
While I did platinum Deathloop, I was pretty let down by it. Arkanes more quality titles like Dishonored and Prey really set a high bar that Deathloop couldn't reach.
@BygSmuvGoT should, above ALL things be fun, since that’s what games were always intended to be. Astro bot was and is incredibly fun as it should be since it’s copied and refined many mechanics from a lot of Nintendo games that were already fun. It’s got good graphics, music and mechanics as well. As much as I think wu Kong was great and got unnecessary hate, Astro bot is just pure fun without having to get too complex. I’ll say it again, GoT should be fun and one of the most fun games and very few people didn’t have fun with this game.
I’ve sunk crazy hours into Warships - doesn’t mean it’s great. I played MW4 online a lot; a well done game, not doesnt come close to Bioshock. MW4 has next level graphics. Good mechanics; gun play; satisfying - multiplayer that grabbed more people than say Killzone. But it wasn’t revolutionary in the sense of new content; it was a recipe that the masses wanted and were glad to get; formed a niche that hits the spot; but wasnt stand out new. Bioshock however stands on its own 2 feet as a new take on a single player FPS. And executed incredibly well. Not relying on just graphics. Has a plethora of different mechanics etc. Not to mention much loved story, voice acting etc.
9:25 noone cared? The multiplayer on that game is the best I've played since Unreal Tournament. It's a shame they changed and messed it up so badly in the sequel
well deserved. its a masterpiece. it took me about 3 playthroughs to fully grasp the brilliance of not only the story, but the acting, gameplay, and details
@natef1212 acting was good, but some of the characters don't make sense, and the gameplay didn't build enough from the first one. The story wasn't good, imo either
I'm sorry but absolutely nothing deserved to beat overwatch in 2016. It was very deserved and any other game winning would have been an absolute robbery. Overwatch now is unfortunately nothing but a shell of it's former self but 2016 - 2018 overwatch was revolutionary.
Sorry but Bioshock deserved to kick the crap out of COD. Games are about the immersion and awe which Bioshock has in spades. COD may have been good to its audience but fanbase but Bioshock gave gamers the awesome feeling of being put in a new "world" where COD has been done before.
It hadn't been done before? Which part? War shooters? They have absolutely been done before. Set the standard for multi player? I'd argue Halo 2 did more than MW did. My point is that while MW was a big jump forward, it wasn't something people haven't seen before, which is no fault of its own. But gamers never saw a "world" like Rapture before.
@IamtheVinja 1. I cannot think of a single modern war game worth talking about prior to Modern Warfare. That switch by itself separated it from battlefield and Medal of Honor forever. 2. Halo, along with effectively the rest of the industry, altered some form of its multiplayer to align with MW. Hell, they shoehorned multiplayer into bioshock 2 because of the impact of MW multiplayer.
COD MW over BioShock is an absolutely wild take imo. Both games were influential but one of them for the better and the other for the worse. Hell, even giving that game the edge over Portal, Mass Effect, and Mario Galaxy is a head scratcher for me. To each there own but Man I couldn’t disagree more
@gianttacogod sure, and I acknowledge that. thats why i said both were influential... but one of them was influential for the worse. I'm certainly not the video game fun police, but I dont think yearly Call of Duty games dominating the industry is a good thing.
@gianttacogodyes nobody bought Call of Duty games prior to CoD4. Activision was just struggling so much on it's 3 prior releases which were heaped with praise.
alan wake 2 too. it is so slept on although its one of the most original aaa game ive ever played. the mechanics are SO FRESH and the vibe is just awesome
I loved the first game but the second one was a snooze fest. So much walking and puzzle solving, I couldn’t finish it. The action sequences in the first game were so great.
No, it is an absolutely beautiful game. But it getting a split choice and it meandering around in focus away from Alan Wake was idiotic. The same would had been true in Control if suddenly the focus shifted away to the past director or the chief scientist. It would have tanked the narrative of the game.
@PC-tc5iei found the puzzles interesting 😭 and let's just say i never bothered myself too much over them? If I couldn't solve something I'd just look it up after 10 mins + THE MUSIC, some of the best music I've seen in a game, do you remember the final fight? I would love to just play that sequence again
2007 was a crazy year for gaming COD4 Bioshock Halo 3 Super mario galaxy Fallout 3 The Orange Box Mass Effect Crysis Forza 2 There is no shame to lose in such a great year for gaming
RDR2 was an amazing technical achievement with an awesome story and lifelike, incredibly well-acted characters. But as a game, it is just not that great. A lot of the game is straight up exposition as you ride your horse and listen to another guy talk. The mechanics are very similar to other entries in the series and don't really push the envelope much.
He missed plenty, 2021 with It takes Two winning over Resident Evil Village or Ratchet & Clank Rift apart, and 2016 with Overwatch winning ofer Uncharted 4 or Dark Souls 3, plenty of exampels he didn't mention, and also some of the ones he mentioned weren't really a steal.
@poett8875 How exactly did it deserve the GOTY? The most unoriginal story ever told, basic gameplay at best, couldn't be shorter or they would need to call it a demo or DLC instead of a game, and the most cringe characters (like that book) in any game I've seen in a long time, I went through that entire game with my wife, you can say it's fun if you play it with someone that you enjoy spending time with, but that's it, it's just a couch coop game, any other game with couch coop would do the same and succeed at it, no matter which one you pick, it's average at best. You can like it, but anyone that says it should be GOTY, doesn't even know how to be objective.
@poett8875 You must be more illiterate than I thought if you call that a 4 page essay, that also explains why you would think It Takes Two deserves a GOTY, knowing that makes it a lot more understandable, I wasn't able to understand how someone could be so unable to look at a game in a objective way and give a fair opinion.
The only 1 i kinda agree with is RDR2, however the actual games that got robbed were Bayonetta 2 in 2014, Uncharted 4 in 2016, Nier Automata in 2017, and Control in 2019
Did you play it when it came out? The story was super good at the time & multiplayer was a blast. It was pretty groundbreaking at the time. Bioshock was great too but Modern Warfare was impressive too
Uncharted 4: Thief's End Hades Control Resident Evil 4 (Remake) Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor The Last of Us Batman: Arkham City Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Spyro Reignited Trilogy
@nosequeponergaming skyrims gameplay sucks ass. Its only good because of its atmosphere and sense of journey. Batman from top to bottom is a masterpiece. Visuals, combat, story, the bosses, the city itself
Bioshock is WAAAY better than COD4. Literally no contest. COD4 is a better COD game, but its still COD. Also when you ask people what thier favorite COD game is no one says COD4, everyone says Black Ops or World at War. Bioshock RIGHTFULLY deserved GOTY
To be honest, my Take for 2024 GOTY was that it would go SAFE to Black Myth: Wukong instead of Astrobot. I haven't played Indiana Jones and I'm pretty sure that its an awesome game, but Wukong was outstanding in many more ways. But - I still have to say, that Astro Bot is extremely fun, so I can sympathize with that GOTY :D
Actually I think the better SAFE choice r Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Metaphor: ReFantazio because it have similar critic score as Astro Bot, while Wukong r actually the lowest critic score game that get nominated as GOTY in the history. I think Wukong is out there because for the attention of the Chinese market, just look at the vote rate at Golden Joystick and TGA watch rate at 2024 being skyrocket because of that.
Dishonored is either the game that you got from steam for no more than the price of a sandwich and just sitting there, or you have ungodly amount of hours in the game just playing it over and over again.
The fact that gollum got snubbed is unforgivable
😂
Agreed, that and Rise of Kong.
Some lies even God can't forgive
The game looked so precious 😂
rage baiting hard asf
God of war reboot in 2018 was awesome BUTTTT…. RDR2 was something else man
I guess it’s all personal preference because for me. It’s still God of war 4 > RDR2 🤷🏾♂️
@obibraxton2232have u ever played rdr2?
@obibraxton2232 no kid
A game is nothing without fun gameplay RDR2 simply isn't that.. it has a tremendous writing and narrative but the gameplay is janky, slow and tedious
@obibraxton2232 At the end of the day, you can simply prefer God of War for personal reasons. However, Red Dead Redemption 2 is objectively a more in-depth, detailed, and dynamic game that will captivate a wider audience and retain their interest for a longer period.
We got Modern Warfare, Gears of War, Portal, and Bioshock in the same year? Sheesh, that was a banger of a year.
God bring me back. 7th grade was a vibe and a half
@tallguy00121 Bro likes Crysis so much he listed it twice. 😏
@lhays117Game was so ahead of its time, it deserves two spots😂
I love that falcon mentioned two different years when talking about rdr2 and neither were the years when the game released lmao
The guy is one of the most “lost in the sauce”, people I’ve seen… Dude hardly knows anything about games yet has a gaming channel, where he constantly gets too much wrong
@AnotherGameNerd5u mean when he said 2020?? I think that was a mistake tbf but i get what u mean
The amount of ppl watching him its rather important he gets his facts right.
@AnotherGameNerd5lmao
I love the fact that he always gets away with this trick of baiting more comments
@flatstheflounder338Or he’s literally just fucking up.
I am still shocked Concord never got GotY. Truly set a new standard for games everywhere
😂
Is it any worse than a few of these on the list? Hard to tell🤣
At least the Secret Level episode was better than the game.... Right?
Am I the only one who liked the episode?
@stitchlover4381 You're one of the few who watched the episode.
i heard from a digital artist in youtube i think, he said Marvel Rivals is successful is because they give people what they want, a beautiful characters, not forcing players to play with some ugly arse dei characters like concord, and i couldn't agree more.
Falcon talking so much smack on It Takes Two is wild.
"It feels old" and then cut to Harrrison Ford, how could you do Indy dirty like that??
Wild how they gave the 2016 GOTY to a game you technically can't even play anymore.
Yea its funny. 2016 overwatch was something else tho.
It arguably deserved GOTY too. Which only goes to show how far they’ve fallen.
Lol the game STILL exist and be played free. But the weird thing is why they gave GOTY to an online multiplayer game that can changed throughout the year.
2016 was uncharted 4 no denial
@DarwinzTheoryzit was just team fortress 2 for normies.
Every time i witness Bioshock intro i get shivers!
Cyberpunk got screwed by its own publisher. That game would've been a much stronger contender for Game of the Year if it had skipped last-gen consoles altogether and had come out November *2021.*
That's without a doubt one of the most disappointing games I've ever experienced.
Consoles had nothing to do with it. It was also shit on PC.
@BongoBaggins You sort of skipped over the part where I also said it should have come out a whole year later.
@BongoBaggins Agreed. Still is...
They fixed some technicalities, but those weren't my main gripe with the game anyways.
@bmsuperstar1the point of mentioning last gen is that the old hardware wasn’t worth the excess time they spent trying to optimize the game for it only to fail for a long time. If they skipped it then it probably would have come out way more polished.
i just had an existential crisis when i realized Modern Warfare is almost 20 years old....
There is literally no way the bioshock one isnt a joke.
I think bioshock definitely deserved it's goty hands down, cod didn't hold a candle to that game.
At last, a sensible comment.
Agreed 💯
COD4 was quite revolutionary at the time. People don’t feel that way anymore, maybe because it has become industry standards and so many other games used the same formula in the 20 years afterwards. Bioshock on the other hand is still one of a kind until today.

Agreed, that game surprised me on what story can do for my gameplay experience. Cod 4 was just a good fps shooter, we’ve seen it before a bunch
Red dead redemption 2 not winning game of the year is the reason why i don't care which game wins goty anymore and I just watch game awards for game trailers
I know...that's just insane to me. I don't think I ever logged that many hours into a game ever close to as perfect as you can get with a game imo
I didnt even enjoy that game. To each their own.
Cope god of war was better
Its a solid quality control usually but eventually individual taste wins above all
probably because it didn’t deserve it and gow was clearly the better game.
Making a video like this and not having A Plague Tale Requiem in it should be illegal
It's a great game but Elden Ring was a cultural phenomenon
This is the gaming version of Hugh Laurie never winning an Emmy for House MD 😭
Nah. He did a boring nondescript American accent and played the traditional American trope of an Autist with hyper intelligence.
That stuff makes me sick and the yanks are still churning that stuff out to this day.
He was good in Blackadder though.
@SparkyparkYes, he was, and I also enjoyed Jeeves and Wooster (and particularly A Bit of Fry and Laurie).
@azalea_kParticularly liked the Mr Dalliard sketch from Fry and Laurie.
@Sparkypark We've been activated!
@classicbandgeekAfter all these years!
Call of Duty over Bioshock?? Falcon, my man... everything ok??
I have the same sentiments
But Call of Duty 4 technically revolutionized shooter games right?
Dont forget the multiplayer part of COD. That’s on top of the intense campaign.
Cod4 completely changed and revolutionized fps games it was massive and shooters are still using that games mechanics to this day.
Yup. People are still playing Cod and few are playing Bioshock these days.
2016 is Uncharted 4 or Dark Souls 3!!!
Cod over bioshock? Falcon had some great takes earlier in the video but he needs to put the drugs down.
I had never played Dishonored or Prey until recently after hearing you guys praise them so much. I am so glad I did, no clue how I have had a blind spot for so many years
Truly amazing games.
Prey is one of my favorite games ever
@davepianist84one of the best games with the worst endings lol
3:58 I see what you did here...
Batman: Arkham Asylum is the embodiment of the phrase "I'm Batman". No other story in any other medium will ever come close.
It was so great. I couldn't do Arkham City though.
The best of the Arkham series
City?
I hate Batman, never liked, probably never will, but i do LOVE Arkham series, i'm finishing Arkham Knight again after done the others, i don't know how many times i've finished all those games, personally i don't like Origins, but i always finish it in order.
That sounds like something someone who doesnt read comics would say considering the game was based off of Grant Marrison's Arkham Asylum Graphic Novel
Nothing beats Bioshock - COD least of all.
The way 2013's GOTY wasn't mentioned when every contender got robbed by GTA V.
I cared about this when I was younger and I was upset Metroid Prime lost to Battlefield 1942 in IGN's list.
Only game that mainly comes to mind will forever be Red Dead 2
👆🏻
I can say al lot of good about RDR2, the world is unmatched to this day, but it's not one of my favourite games, I was entertained as much as I was bored with it's huge open world, some things that made this game more realistic also made it more tedious
@japacapagetting shipped off to that island completely killed the game for me tbh
go fovking playing ubisoft games kid
@ymkyourmoneyking8157 no tlou 2 is realistic af n still super fun and i dont even play horror games ever
ed Dead Redemption 2 losing GOTY to God of War still feels like the biggest robbery in gaming. Both are masterpieces, but RDR2 wasn’t just a game, it was an experience that set a new standard for open-world immersion. Years later, nothing has topped it.

Dishonored losing to walking dead is fucking wild. I demand a recount
"I always appreciate Gameranx's love for Dishonored. It's a game that some consider very mediocre, while others rank it in their top 10 GOAT list (including me).
Not a Gameranx video without talking about Dishonored 5 times lol
Oh, dude, Dishonored is still absolutely _my_ game. It’s like Arkane looked inside my brain and then designed a game for me. What a thing it was.
Dishonored is one of the games I tell everyone they *have* to play.
@HeadCannonPrime Each to each - I loved it.
@carrscat I liked the 1st/3rd person options in Thief: Deadly Shadows but honestly didn’t miss them in Dishonored.
"Not even the sequels managed to be this good"???
Bro has not played Warrior Within.
We can thank the Arkham Series for how good the combat in Spiderman is.
1:02 wow it's been decades since I saw that.
A picture you can hear.
Honestly, it is a crime neither of the Horizon games got one. And surprised you missed BMW.
The elephant scene was morbidly hilarious. IYKYK
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time mentioned! 🙌🙌
Uncharted 4 not winning goty in 2016 is the biggest robbery for me.
Agreed, such a phenomenal and underrated game
Yeah I’m surprised the guys talking about doom when obviously uncharted deserved the award
@DenverHarward I don’t think you know what underrated means, because uncharted 4 is the farthest thing from underrated
Lost against a game you cannot play now. Robbed by blizzard
Back then Overwatch was something else.
The fact that Helldivers II isn’t mentioned is criminal
Still reeling from the idea that Modern Warfare, Bioshock, Gears of War, and Portal all came out in the same year.
We really had no idea how great we had it.
Mass Effect, Halo 3, Uncharted, Metroid Prime 3, Team Fortress 2, Super Mario Galaxy, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Heart of Chernobyl, and Assassin's Creed all came out in 2007 too.
Maybe the best year in gaming.
Gears of war was 2006
Bro, Bioshock is a masterpiece. Come on!
The real losers are the games that deserved game of the year but didn’t make it in this video
I usually agree with most of your opinions, but COD over Bioshock? No way!!! Bioshock all day. One of the best narratives for a first person shooter of all time.
CoD over Bioshock is truly an insane take 😂
CoD 4 is arguably one of the most important FPSs in history. Bioshock was a decent game, but has left almost zero legacy.
I'm saying. Falcon gotta quit smoking so much crack lololol
@RP2024a is legacy more important than the actual game? Not trying to start an argument, it's just an interesting discussion. COD clearly was more influential. Was it a better game? I could sit on either side of this topic tbf.
@stuartmorley6894 For the time? no, Bioshock is the better FPS, even the best COD campaigns are shallow compared to dedicated story driven fps games.
Madden winning anything that isn't "Shameless cashgrab of the year" is crazy.
Well, sports games are 1. ruled by big names. 2. played by mostly casual players. 3. trash
To be far, waaaaaaaay back then those type of games were decent.
The fact that Shadow of the Colossus wasn't even nominated is just ridiculous...
I think everyone unanimously cringed at your Bioshock take😂 There's no way ANY COD would ever beat the first Bioshock!
I agree with falcon tbh, Bioshock is a GREAT narrative game with great gameplay, but COD 4 revolutionized the gaming industry for decades to come if that’s not GOT material idk what it
As a BioShock fan, I disagree
@aiwash2766 How did cod 4 revolutionize gaming? I barely think about that game nowadays.
Yeah fr
@Over_Toasted cod 4 basically set the standard for modern fps games.
Reminder: Indy and The Great Circle was published by Bethesda, who also published Dishonored, its sequel, and the spin off, deathloop. All great games
While I did platinum Deathloop, I was pretty let down by it. Arkanes more quality titles like Dishonored and Prey really set a high bar that Deathloop couldn't reach.
@WyrmsouImakes sense. Dishonored is definitely way better.
We give Geoff's "awards" FAR MORE recognition than we should...
COD over BioShock is an absolutely wild take.
Astrobot over anything is just pure dumbassery
Astrobot over anything is just pure dumbassery
@BygSmuv Don't worry. Wuchang Souls won't be winning this year either.
@BygSmuvsomebody didn't play Astrobot...
@BygSmuvGoT should, above ALL things be fun, since that’s what games were always intended to be. Have to disagree, MW was not robbed, Bioshock 100% deserved GOTY
I 100% disagree with u. MW definitely deserved it more and got robbed
@BlueMoonGamerGuy me when I'm a cod brain rotted bozo
@HearMeLearn MW graphically is amazing, the story was good and it was a very good game. Im not brainrotted lol
@BlueMoonGamerGuybioshock has one of the greatest stories in all of fiction, even if the original MW has a really good story it still solos it
I’ve sunk crazy hours into Warships - doesn’t mean it’s great.
The fact RDR2 didn't get a next-gen update is criminal
20:49 Why is detective mode so magenta? Mine looks blue like my Boles.
The Great Circle was what a 90s game would be if they had the tech.
Mahn i loved Alien Isolation so much . . .
Arkham asylum was so ahead of its time it looks and feels like a modern game
Finally, Gameranx made a list without caring for people’s feelings
Doom Eternal's Best OST getting robbed was unforgivable.
9:25 noone cared? The multiplayer on that game is the best I've played since Unreal Tournament. It's a shame they changed and messed it up so badly in the sequel
100%
RDR2 not winning GOTY was a crime against the history of humankind.
Prince of Persia losing to Madden shows you how bad game journalists are at rating games.
I remember that TLOU 2 took every possible award in 2020.
well deserved. its a masterpiece. it took me about 3 playthroughs to fully grasp the brilliance of not only the story, but the acting, gameplay, and details
@natef1212yo are full shit mate and you know it, itsa decent game with shitit story dont gaslight yourself
@natef1212the story was atrocious and riddled with plot holes. Great game, but the storyline and characters are horrific.
@poett8875 what plot holes are you referring to?
@natef1212 acting was good, but some of the characters don't make sense, and the gameplay didn't build enough from the first one. The story wasn't good, imo either
Great job having my granny demonstrate Arkham's fluid combat system.
Haven't played Ghost of Tsushima yet but I'm assuming "You should subscribe to gameranx" is a direct quote...
I'm sorry but absolutely nothing deserved to beat overwatch in 2016. It was very deserved and any other game winning would have been an absolute robbery.
Overwatch now is unfortunately nothing but a shell of it's former self but 2016 - 2018 overwatch was revolutionary.
Am I living in the same reality as you people?
After all the dust has settled, a year has passed who even thinks of astrobot?
Sorry but Bioshock deserved to kick the crap out of COD. Games are about the immersion and awe which Bioshock has in spades. COD may have been good to its audience but fanbase but Bioshock gave gamers the awesome feeling of being put in a new "world" where COD has been done before.
At that point it hadn’t been done before though, that’s the point. MW1 set the standard for everything that came after it in multiplayer FPS games
Li
COD MW over BioShock is an absolutely wild take imo. Both games were influential but one of them for the better and the other for the worse. Hell, even giving that game the edge over Portal, Mass Effect, and Mario Galaxy is a head scratcher for me. To each there own but Man I couldn’t disagree more
I guess its an influence thing. Cod4 created one of the most recognizable game franchises in history.
@gianttacogod sure, and I acknowledge that. thats why i said both were influential... but one of them was influential for the worse. I'm certainly not the video game fun police, but I dont think yearly Call of Duty games dominating the industry is a good thing.
One is fortnite lite the other is a masterpiece. They are not the same
@ryanschwarz3024people buy it. Dunno what to say
@gianttacogodyes nobody bought Call of Duty games prior to CoD4. Activision was just struggling so much on it's 3 prior releases which were heaped with praise.
Dishonored definitely was dishonored...
2016 had to be dark souls man
Dark Souls was 2012 though
@x01021ds3 ofc man
@x01021I think he's saying DS3
I always felt Sunset Overdrive got overlooked in 2014. Imo
You have great taste. 👍
Sunset Overdrive ran so Spider-Man could swing
That Dishonored gameplay was painful to watch 😂
Indiana Jones over Wukong? BS
Facts
For real
Stopped watching the video on that note
Yes
yep , i STOPPed watching the stupid video after that
alan wake 2 too. it is so slept on although its one of the most original aaa game ive ever played. the mechanics are SO FRESH and the vibe is just awesome
@PC-tc5ieThat damn evidence board. I hated that thing.
@taylornewell-je1zrsuch a momentum stopper. Hated having to go back to that.
@PC-tc5iei found the puzzles interesting 😭 and let's just say i never bothered myself too much over them? If I couldn't solve something I'd just look it up after 10 mins
+ THE MUSIC, some of the best music I've seen in a game, do you remember the final fight? I would love to just play that sequence again
If a game releases in December or late November the developers care more for Christmas sales over game awards.
2007 was a crazy year for gaming
COD4
Bioshock
Halo 3
Super mario galaxy
Fallout 3
The Orange Box
Mass Effect
Crysis
Forza 2
There is no shame to lose in such a great year for gaming
God of war 2
Uncharted
The list goes on
LOSE! Why does everyone spell it wrong?
Ghost of Tsushima and Wukong were absolutely robbed.
Elden Ring not winning GOTY was a tragedy
I know steve jobs created the first smartphone, but i thought some of those blackberrys were a lot cooler than iphones.
well the majority disagrees
Steve Jobs did not create the iPhone. He paid other people to create it then held it up on stage afterwards.
Xenoblade 3 was robbed the best music for that year, losing to God of War Ragnarok
Nah... Ragnarok's score is absolutely breathtaking. One of my all-time favorites. Bear McCreary is hella talented
@DenverHarwardHave you played XC3?
@yifanpan2138 I haven't beaten it yet but the music is very good, no doubt! GoW is just one of my personal favorites
“Ehh”, “ughh”, “ahh”, - Falcon
Rdr2 losing was not on my bingo card.
@mopey39 so is the story not apart of the game? You said its not great
God of war is better
@morgan3714 story alone does not make a great game.
@mopey39 but its one of the big things that can make it better
Umh HELLO 2017 Nier Automata would like a phone call with PUBG?!?!! Cannot believe this was missed wtf
@Acuasnah It Takes Two deserved that for sure.
@Acuasdude it’s an opinion. Nobody’s going to read that 4 page essay.
The fact that GTA 5 got snubbed is crazy looking back.
Spiderman 2018 was better than people know
Not better than rdr2
not better than gow and red dead
@soulsfan-72 and neither are better than gow
God of War 4, on the other hand, is vastly overrated, especially compared to the original God of War games
@hsnowman1316rdr2 is too good tf u mean
Overwatch was never game of the year material.
Sure it was. Completely innovative at the time, super fun, culturally relevant, extremely polished.
I agree , it deserve Game of the decade
We all know that the award that only matters is the players choice award
The only 1 i kinda agree with is RDR2, however the actual games that got robbed were Bayonetta 2 in 2014, Uncharted 4 in 2016, Nier Automata in 2017, and Control in 2019
Sekiro didn't robbed nobody my frend
COD if you ask me is overrated for GOTY single player was ok, Bioshock was the more superior game other wise i agree with this list 100%
Did you play it when it came out? The story was super good at the time & multiplayer was a blast. It was pretty groundbreaking at the time. Bioshock was great too but Modern Warfare was impressive too
Nope, Cod4 is class, still the best one for me. Theres a reason they've copied it for nearly 20 years 😂
If u agree god of war is better than rdr2 u need to get your head checked out
Black myth wukong absolutely deserved the award for 2024!
Rdr2 was one of the only games that gave me melancholy upon completion. The other is cyberpunk and Witcher 3
Your reasoning for Indiana Jones not winning because of release date can be the same reasoning for RDR2. RDR2 came out in December 2018.
End of October 2018 actually but I get your point
Perfect timing after the Ballon D'or robbery
Ghost of Tsushima not winning in 2020 is a gigantic shame.
Are you kidding? Tlou2 bro xD
it didn't help that 2020 was a notable rise of DEI
@slugshotgunyeah thats why🤡
Tlou2 was way better than GoT
midoff
Cod 4 wasn't robbed just a stacked year plenty of better games
Overwatch in 2025 in a “sad” state?? Okay dude
Uncharted 4: Thief's End
Hades
Control
Resident Evil 4 (Remake)
Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
The Last of Us
Batman: Arkham City
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Shadow of Mordor fucking sucked
skyrim clears arkham city
@nosequeponergaming skyrims gameplay sucks ass. Its only good because of its atmosphere and sense of journey. Batman from top to bottom is a masterpiece. Visuals, combat, story, the bosses, the city itself
Hades for sure
what's that list?
Bioshock is WAAAY better than COD4. Literally no contest.
COD4 is a better COD game, but its still COD.
Also when you ask people what thier favorite COD game is no one says COD4, everyone says Black Ops or World at War.
Bioshock RIGHTFULLY deserved GOTY
The Game Awards is the Golden Globes. Game Developers Choice Awards is the Oscars.
