The reason that Byakuya and Senku are "not blood related" is that when Dr. Stone was being written, the studio made the writers do that so that nobody would feel weird about shipping Senku with any of the villagers. Byakuya was always designed to be (and meant to be) Senku's biological father. You're character & spirit is lovely, thank you for sharing your reaction to episode 17 it was entertaining & humbling fulfilling to watch as one of the many Dr Stone fans. The closing vid/song makes so much sense now of why it's all about Byakuya & Senku, & infinitely sadder 😭💔

the continents changed or moved during 3,700 years.. during that time japan (where senku is) might've moved to the island where byakuya established the village.
Naw it's an entirely different island. It's clearly stated that the first story was made so that the islanders would be inclined to migrate. I know it's anime, a shounen anime in fact, so technically "realism" doesn't matter but 3700 years isn't near enough for an island to move that far.
@@shayusu8317 It being an Anime has nothing to do with realism, Dr.Stone focuses on realism, on real world science, so of course it follows real world logic
Also, its mostly agreed upon that the authors Boichi and Inagaki Riichiro wanted Byakuya to be Senku's real father, but it probably was forced to be retconned by editors because of the media backlash if Senku and Kohaku were related, nobody wants no damn incest lmao. Even though it wouldn't have been incest because 3000+ years would make Senku basically unrelated to them genetically, not even 1mm. Fortunately, the authors of Dr. Stone make good work with the adoptive father aspect and it really hammers home some emotions like you brought up (Byakuya sees a little more screentime later in the manga).
It’s not an anime think , every parent in this situation wouldn’t think of the possibility that their son is not alive. He had to believe that they are still alive .
I can only guess that Senku's mom probably married Byakuya and he adopted Senku as his own, or Senku was fully adopted if he had no parents. Only reasons I could think of why Senku and Byakuya aren't related.
Nah, it's officially explained that Senku is Byakuya's close friend's son. But it hasn't explained yet what happened to them so Byakuya ends up adopting Senku.
I keep forgetting that Dr. Stone is on Friday dang it... On the bright side, I get surprised by your reaction notif 😊😊😊 Oh well, I do read the manga so watching others react to it first before watching is fine by me 😊😊😊
@@r.a.fgattaiguy845 Thats not the point. The writer & the fans clearly want them to be together, so the writer added in the specific detail that Senku isn't blood-related to the villagers. I don't know what you're trying to get at. If you've read the manga, then you'd see a clear outline of which characters the writer is trying to put together into a relationship. Almost every major character has a love interest in the manga like puzzle-pieces.
I just noticed, half of this episode came from the very first chapter of Dr. Stone Reboot: Byakuya. The spin-off story of Byakuya and the five others when they land back on Earth.
@@drlucky9523 Its out it Kissmanga. When you type in Dr. Stone it will appear too. The authors are the same as the main series. Currently he's working with 2 mangas now and hopefully it won't ruin such a good work.
If Byakuya and his second wife had been petrified though, they would still be dead because of Tsukasa's destructive rampage on petrified statues of all adult humans.
13:53 Your thinking of Earth like how it is now. The Earth's continents and geography shift and change like every day in small increments. Obviously in the time period Senku is in right now, the Earth has changed so much that the Japanese mainland has merged with the remote island that Senku's father initially landed on.
i think the only reason senku isn’t his fathers blood relative is because technically the whole village is related to senkus dad so if senku was related to his dad and he ended up dating someone from the village then they would technically be related
7:41 It wouldn't make a difference on itself, unless for the awkward position it would put the anime in, in regard to Senku. I'm not sure if they originally envisaged it this way, because the father sure *looks* like him - even the same eyes, so it's ultra weird they're now suddenly saying 'not blood relatives"... and why, you ask? Well, for the same reasons why Hentai always makes sure to point out "we are not blood-relatives" when they're errmmm... "exploring" incestuous copulation. Basically, it's to say: yeah, it seems wrong, but it's actually alright, they can have sex, because they're not related by blood - so it's ok, really. It's a trick often used in hentai. Of course, this is no hentai, but the same principle applies here, to some extend. In a way, this is the same here. Think about it. If his father were his biological father, and Senku is going to fu... I mean, have a relationship with one of the blonde chicks, there is no way to avoid the weird feeling he's actually having sex with his grand-grand-grand children/siblings, otherwise. So... there really is no reason in-universe for the anime to suddenly claim they're not blood-related, it's a meta-decision taken by the makers of the manga/anime, to avoid the otherwise weird connotations that would otherwise arise.
I’ve been waiting for this to be animated it’s one of my favorite moments in the series but in all honesty if Senku’s dad really wanted to help Senku even more he could’ve literally just gotten medicine from a hospital, set up basic agriculture, everything would’ve still been there it’s just humanity and sparrows that are frozen in stone, so literally they could’ve helped Senku even more by getting an electric generator and medicine and books and computers al of which is very doable with the extensive scientific knowledge they’d need to be a astronaut in the first place. Instead he and the other astronauts just sat there reproducing and foraging for food until they got sick and died, in an attempt to “help” Senku when they could’ve helped him even more by rebuilding as much of civilization as they could or at least preserve it as best they could.
Well the couple that went to do that, never came back so it's possible they died at sea during their travels. They only had 1 boat too and they couldn't risk losing the last 2 adults sooo, I think he did what he could with the resources he had on that island
Lalafluffbunny Hmm fair enough I forgot that they did do that but they were on that island for a good 30+ years since Senku’s dad died around his 70s-80s so I think they could’ve definitely built a boat in that time.
Eh, you do know that wether the people who turned to stone lived or not had nothing to do with them staying concious? As far as is known of the characters only Taiyu And Senku stayed concious. This made it so they only needed nitric acids instead of the mixture that Senku made to turn back from stone but it didn’t do anything else. They could’ve broken and been beyond survival just as easily as those broken statues we see every once in a while...

I think, those island are move nearly to japan by the time.. and maybe that's the fact that makes you curious..
Tbh the villagers should be more fucked up than King Tutankhamen with all the incest they’ve must gone through since by the second generation after Senku’s father all the villagers would be related by blood.
So. I was thinking why does Senku's father have the same hair as Senku if they aren't related by blood? And then i realized that maybe he dyed it to look like his... and so i hope that's the case because that would hurt like hell hahahahaha 😂
See I thought the same he literally looks like Senku with the same hair and eyes but I guess it makes sense can't have him potentially having sex with relatives
the point is that they have an amazing relationship n trust n them not being biological son n father doesn't matter. what u have smth against that? u don't like adopted ppl or those that adopt?
Am I the only one who doesn't see that many physical similarities between Byakuya and Senku? Like, the only thing I see is the shape of their eyes, but that could just be Boichi's style, idk everyone is saying that but i dont see it lol
If connie died early and didn't get pregnant how is there someone that look like her i. The future where everyone who is alive in byakuya's crew are blonde? Well i don't know abt genes etc. It just confuse me
I wish they didn't show this backstory, it just made this show(which I still like) a lot more stupid, their kids would have weak immune system and genetic mutations because of their gene pool. They would just die in first generations.

6:38 he thinks everyone is alive half based on a hunce and half based on hypothesis. whatever the petrification beam came from it's not natural. so there may be a way to revert it as much as the phenomenon itself is a way of it happens. plus it affect only human which reinforce the idea of been made for a purpose. like senku thought at the beginning, 3 hypothesis can be based on the cause: alien, manmade experience/weapon backfire, new kind of virus/stage of evolution.
Vague Spoiler:
Byakuya: I give you the best gift, allies you can rely on!
Also Byakuya: But wait, there's more! 😜😜😜
Anyway, Byakuya was such an awesome dad 😢😢😢
Tons of riddles for Senku in 100 Tales like ,,I gotta keep your mind sharp. I won't give you everything on platinum plate" hehe
@@MegiMoon true, true 😌😌😌
I'll cry harder when u see the real gift!!! Best dad ever till the very end!!!
13:04 damn, that made me cry. I very recently found out that the ISS is only gonna exist (at least the way it is now, the future is still unclear) until ca 2030 and just the pure EXISTENCE of the ISS is/was such a huuuge milestone for humanity and knowing that that is going to end soon(ish) really messed me up
(aspiring scientist here, favourite field is chemistry with astronomy as a close second and I generally love all sciences)
Also I'm always blow away when watching the reactions of the younger generations of anime fans & the purity of the love they have for the shows they enjoy to watch, it's simply a splendid & special thing to witness 😊 oh and remember #teamtrees
They are not blood relatives so people wouldn't feel weird shipping Senku with Kohaku.
It bugs me so much that they look exactly the same yet theyre suposedly not related, like what🙄
This episode was soo sad and beautiful at the same time
I actually teared up on this episode so hard
the continents changed or moved during 3,700 years.. during that time japan (where senku is) might've moved to the island where byakuya established the village.
no, It´s a different island
Naw it's an entirely different island. It's clearly stated that the first story was made so that the islanders would be inclined to migrate. I know it's anime, a shounen anime in fact, so technically "realism" doesn't matter but 3700 years isn't near enough for an island to move that far.
@@shayusu8317 It being an Anime has nothing to do with realism, Dr.Stone focuses on realism, on real world science, so of course it follows real world logic
Most likely the grave stone could be a marker like a memorial, or the bodies were taken over as well.
Senku is adopted
Have someone thought that Senku is lucky that he didn't got sick at the beginning? That would be game over.
I love this episode. This episode made me cry. Love your reactions XD
I only watch Dwayne and jazz, truegawd and her anime reaction 💟
Precious reaction of Doctor Stone... hope soon to be able to see the second season
I keep forgetting that Dr. Stone is on Friday dang it... On the bright side, I get surprised by your reaction notif 😊😊😊 Oh well, I do read the manga so watching others react to it first before watching is fine by me 😊😊😊
I feel like his adoption will play a role in the story at some point. Not sure how yet
Same honestly, maybe his biological parents will get introduced at some point as well
I think its just a way for the writer to justify Senku and Kohaku getting together since it wouldn't be weird if they weren't related.
It´s not like they have feelings for each other though, sure Senku is the type of person she likes but it´s not like she loves him
@@r.a.fgattaiguy845 Thats not the point.
Thanks for sharing, I definitely have to find it!! 👨🔬🤟
@@drlucky9523 Its out it Kissmanga. When you type in Dr. Stone it will appear too. The authors are the same as the main series. Currently he's working with 2 mangas now and hopefully it won't ruin such a good work.
@@drops8n681 thanks a mill, i will check it out right now!!
Dr. Stone = underated...
Fight me
The ED just got 10 billion percent sadder
I ten billion % agree 😭💔
This is the first episode that actually made me cry😭😭😭
If Byakuya and his second wife had been petrified though, they would still be dead because of Tsukasa's destructive rampage on petrified statues of all adult humans.
I don't think Byakuya was married before though. So Lilianne is his first and only wife.
BEST SADDEST EPISODE EVER
after the sadness here come the war
13:53 Your thinking of Earth like how it is now. The Earth's continents and geography shift and change like every day in small increments. Obviously in the time period Senku is in right now, the Earth has changed so much that the Japanese mainland has merged with the remote island that Senku's father initially landed on.
Yeah, Senku is adopted!!
i think the only reason senku isn’t his fathers blood relative is because technically the whole village is related to senkus dad so if senku was related to his dad and he ended up dating someone from the village then they would technically be related
They brought the gravestones, not the physical bodies.
Yeaaah!!! Next ep is gonna b hype, i hope we see hyouga next ep
They could’ve broken and been beyond survival just as easily as those broken statues we see every once in a while...
i too, was confused when they said byakuya and senku weren't blood related bc they look too goddamn alike !
the manga will make u cry fountains, trust me
Great show can’t wait for season 2, this anime is fun to watch
The feels won't stop Byakuya the best
I feel like Kohaku and Senku will be a thing, because they made it very clear they aren't blood relatives.
Omg it's scary how much your reactions are the same as mine xD damn
They probably look alike cuz its probably like if a blonde or black haired couple adopted a child with the same color hair
Oh & besides that the chief looks like the singer lady, I now realized that the chiefs assistant looks just like Bakuya
Someone say dr.stone 10/10
I say sr atone 10 billion/10
Senku is adopted, Byakuya just wanted a kid 🤷♀️
But that makes no sense, why do they look so alike?😩
Norangel G At first they were meant to be biologically related but they changed it later on as they got complaints.
Had to read the manga up to the current issue after seeing this episode-more courage, inspiration, and feelz to come, yo!!! 😭
Forgot to include cheeky humour, as well 😂
Damn you are really intuitive with the hints from the author about the fact that they didn't land originally at Ishigami village, it will all be answered eventually just so you know but kinda far in the manga
I feels bad for Mr. Byakuya's grave.
his tombstone is only using a bad rock with no name on it. :(
also, he's the most best anime father on 2019
edit :
some islands is actually can move slowly..
I think, those island are move nearly to japan by the time..
and maybe that's the fact that makes you curious..
React to Tanaka-kun is always listless
Tbh the villagers should be more fucked up than King Tutankhamen with all the incest they’ve must gone through since by the second generation after Senku’s father all the villagers would be related by blood.
So. I was thinking why does Senku's father have the same hair as Senku if they aren't related by blood? And then i realized that maybe he dyed it to look like his... and so i hope that's the case because that would hurt like hell hahahahaha 😂
They cant be related so they can match senku with one of the villagers is my guess so it wont be incest
See I thought the same he literally looks like Senku with the same hair and eyes but I guess it makes sense can't have him potentially having sex with relatives
Pretty sure they just brought the headstones...
And what was your last christmas gift?
the point is that they have an amazing relationship n trust n them not being biological son n father doesn't matter. what u have smth against that? u don't like adopted ppl or those that adopt?
What do you mean 'already' ? It's been six months.
His step uncle
Am I the only one who doesn't see that many physical similarities between Byakuya and Senku? Like, the only thing I see is the shape of their eyes, but that could just be Boichi's style, idk everyone is saying that but i dont see it lol
*yuzuriha, not yuzuhira!
If connie died early and didn't get pregnant how is there someone that look like her i. The future where everyone who is alive in byakuya's crew are blonde? Well i don't know abt genes etc. It just confuse me
😭💔😭
Who took care of the kids when the dad died???
I wish they didn't show this backstory, it just made this show(which I still like) a lot more stupid, their kids would have weak immune system and genetic mutations because of their gene pool. They would just die in first generations.
just hoping you pick up the manga at some point
Byakuya stone grave.. .are not stone but.. A secret weapon to wins😉
mark your spoilers asshole
it is NOT extra or unnecessary ... u r
