OP Nayyar used “clapping” to enhance the rhythm in his compositions. Although it was a frequently used feature, it never sounded repetitive. Instead it always sounded energetic and lovable. Wonderful music! Lyrics by Majrooh S are excellent. Mohd. Rafi (who became Shammi K’s voice after this movie) sang from his heart and Asha Bhosle accompanied beautifully. A song to cherish forever!
@miliariss this is classic and the most powerful song. I was there in 1957...where were you? Please do not and never insult indian culture and it's people.
The true essence of a singer..............Shammi Kapoor portrays Rafi's voice in a manner that only very few can do....all this is done with so little backing music and yet the full message is understood.
How nice this romantic song is ! Ever green and heart touching song. I am a Bangladeshi but I like Indian old romantic songs. I hope our subcontinantal culture will alive for ever.
The best thing about this song is the way it has been filmed . Since Rafi's voice lacks culture so it fits this Bhangra like the proverbial glove. No one is a greater exponent of Punjabi folk music than OP. So when the masters joined hands the result could not be other than a masterpiece.
There is only another Person who can sing like this, Or Better, that is Gt Rafi Sahib Himself. Others can't even get closer to Rafi Sahib, Rafi Sahib was Mr Kapoor's right and left hand
A wonderfully sung song, unlikely to be matched by someone else. However, comparisons are unfair as most of the singers of 50's, 60's 70's and 80's had unique style and voice. For instance, one can't imagine anyone else matching Kishore's Mere naina...., Manna De's Jeevan se lambe or ai mere pyare watan, or Talat's jalte hain jiske lie .. list is endless.
legendry song sung by Rafi sahab, in deed & no doubt that no one can be comparable with Rafi sahab..his voice is pure gold. he is legend of the legends. Rafi Sahab you are the gem of India, a glass can become diamond but no one can become or like Mohammad Rafi Sahab. love u from the core of my heart.
The greatest and wonderful things in Indian Cinema are invariably found to be SIMPLE, DECENT, MEANINGFUL FOLKLORE SONG AND DANCE COUPLED WITH OUR STANDARDS ORIENTAL MUSIC and this has scaled the heights with unfailing regularity in most of the GOLDEN MOVIES of 50's and 60's! Many film songs of that era are remarkably stands in memory and UNBELIEVABLY SWEET IN EVERY INCH OF IT EVEN TODAY! Even thinking of the song itself gives an EVERLASTING PLEASURE! We have to thank one and all who made this!
My evergreen prince charm hero Shammi Kapoor...my evergreen musical king Mohd Rafi...this movie was a smashing hit..came on diwali din 1957...still there in my mind...!
One of Bollywood's great actors and my favourite from that era. This song was also my 18 year old son's favourite song from the age of 3. Shammi Ji wasareal STAR and will be sorely missed. May his soul rest in peace.
@Super12345mo Great! These are the folks who make Shammi and others look good. Not that Shammi wasn't good, but it takes so many talented people to make a movie. Thanks for the info.
Super hit song by op nayyar. He truly was a legend and a meastro, and Bhangra was his favorite composition. No one comes even close to instilling love, romance and happiness in my life other than OPs songs
A perfect combo of Asha ji & Mohd Rafi saahib's song. Both have sung this song beautifully and no words for Shammi Ji's acting. I am one of the ad rent fan of shammi ji May his soul rest in piece. Beautiful movie. He will be remembered for ever.
O P Nayaar's most amazing talent ; anyone's heart would dance with joy and fly in the seventh heavan , if one remains depressed listening to this sing .......
Ameeta was extra ordinarily confident and had all the acumen of a big actor, apparent from this very song . beautiful face , great facial expressions , good acting and no where it seems that this is her first film . But some where luck also plays its role , ameeta just finished from an extra ordinary to just ordinary. OR OR or some bad karma on her part played a role in her debacle after mere mehboob , where she acted along with sadhana .

बहुत ही मनमोहक गाना
Nice song by Great Mohd. Rafi saab and Asha ji. A lot of similarities with another song Balle Balle in Kashmir Ki Kali.
The best thing about this song is the way it has been filmed . Since Rafi's voice lacks culture so it fits this Bhangra like the proverbial glove. No one is a greater exponent of Punjabi folk music than OP. So when the masters joined hands the result could not be other than a masterpiece.
Classic! Omg! I remember the chorus of the song in KANK's Rock-n-roll soniye! 😱😱
Tamanna thi kamse kam koi phool banke hum teri zulf choomte...

Shammi & Rafi - what a Gr8 combination, unforgettable !!
Evergreen and energitik song

Rafi Sahab's silky smooth rendition takes you to a musical wonderland. There will never be another singer who can ever come where Rafi Sahab was.
very well said nobody can replace Rafisaab

Rafi Sahab you are the gem of India, a glass can become diamond but no one can become or like Mohammad Rafi Sahab. love u from the core of my heart.
OPN does an encore in Kashmir Ki Kali in the song Hai Re Hai..... Balle Balle, the same typical Punjabi josh, virility n macho translated into music.
