Just a thought about mounting the poly film capacitors. Maybe there is room on the top of the chassis to have a module/board to house them and bring connections through the top plate. Just like the capacitor box on the old Leak TL10 amp I'm working on. Might make the connection leads too long though? Best Matt

thanks for getting back with me on the power supply question. as i have a bunch of 600v teflon m/c flex stranded copper the r.f. shouldn't be a problem. going with the sep 6.3v regulated d.c. for the filaments as well as the 5v regulated filament supply for the rectifier tube. decided to go for the clean but industrial look. as the modified studio 4 transmission lines are going to be the reference driver assemblies(they are bi-amp capable) a second amplifier will be added later to drive the 8" mid/bass units. right now a hafler dh120 pro handles the top end and a dh200 does the bottom end all through a tube pre-amp of my own making. flat w/no tone control stack at the moment. tonal balance is changed by altering amplifier gain. a tone stack is being considered though but first....i wanna get the transistors out of the signal path.this class"a" build is looking like the way to go.
thanks for getting my butt back to the bench and out of programming and routing table mode ;-)

I'm lovin' the explanations. There might be hope for me to build my own amp after all. :0)

A suggestion about electrolytic caps performance, I know of a technique that shunts them with progressively smaller values of polypropilene , or similar type of caps , to improve they high frequency response. For example one 100 nf plus one 10 nf plus one 1 nf, all in parallel to say 33 a microfarad cap, in this way you could get the best world out of the two technologies.

I use the steel Hammond chassis with black coating as the thin aluminum is too flimsy. It is hard to machine but worth the time

What do you mean, "were 5 parts in and haven't built anything yet"?. Of course you have! You've built expectation.
