Sorhae is the biggest cultural festival of the Santals, that starts from 25th Poush of the Bangla calendar. The Santals of Bankura, Purulia , Midnapur and Odisha celebrate this festival during Kali puja which has its own history and background (see. Sorhae-m.facebook.com...)
In this five day festival, Santals express their gratitude to the benevolent spirits of their various clans of the village for keeping them safe and providing them with food and healthy life throughout the year.
Sorhae is also the time to renew and recollect old friendships and love of bygone days. In this song a boy and a girl reminisces their sweet memories of their childhood friendship.
