    Very much agree on no keepsakes for the guests. Why? They mostly end up as dust collectors and in second hand shops🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

      depends on the favor. Something small and edible is usually a good idea. No body wants a book mark or a plaque with the date and names on it but everyone likes sweets (a cookie, a mini candy bar, etc) and those usually get eaten before the reception is over. >.>>> disclaimer usually nobody ...except for grandma who keeps EVERYTHING....including the cookie tho you might find that on a shelf years later after she is gone. ..therer is always that one...LOL

      my friends gave guests flower seeds to signify love blooming and i loved that. i think we also got sweets. to be honest though, i think i would only do that tradition if i felt obligated to by my partner. i haven’t known about it for long so i even forget it exists, and i don’t think it’s necessary because you get a whole celebration as a wedding guest. free meal, music, dessert, party. i understand it’s to say thank you though for coming and getting couple a gift. but at what point are we just giving gifts to say thank you for gifts. i feel like it should mostly be about the couple and celebrating as loved ones rather than material things. i would just rather write sincere, heartfelt thank you notes. i would personally treasure that more. i hope my wedding can be nice enough that the guests can have a special experience and not miss wedding favors.

    Twenty years age difference maybe? Always seems like a bad sign.

      Hi, normally would agree with you on this but I would be such a hypocrite. The reason is because my sister married when she was 24 and he was 48. He was about ten years younger than my mum. They had children together before, during and after they were married. This was his third marriage and thirty plus years later they are still happily married to each other. I do know of another couple with this sort of age difference that seems to work well. To be honest, I want to recoil at such an age difference but for some strange reason it seems to work well for some people. I will also add that my sister has a lovely temperament which I think makes a huge difference.

      @@joannayeo9545 My husband and I are 15 years apart and it seems to be working well for us, too. It has been 16 years as of August 2022.

    I like the idea of people sitting where they want.

    • @vickiechandler3112
      @vickiechandler3112 3 года назад +2

      it works sometimes but depending on the event ..assigned seating is much better. An alternative is as ppl come in you fill up the tables and then have staff take away the emply settings for those tables in the back that dont get filled. EXP....each tble seats 10....first 3 ppl get number 1 table...they tell the usher and then the next 7 ppl etc etc. We did this for a charity prom and it worked out great ...full tables and mixed crowds and ppl making new friends (i think the alcohol helped a bit with that tho...LOL ) We did let ppl know that if they had a large group , they may be split up unless they notified us first and they were told to wait until all their party arrived before checking in. We had 2 tables in the back empty and the staff just cleared them off and moved them out of the way ...worked great.

      Creating a seating plan is where real consideration for the guests is shown. Where do you seat guests who don't know many - or any - of the other guests? Where do you put people who don't get along with some of the other guests? What if a couple sits down where someone has "saved" places for their friends? A seating plan removes the discomfort of deciding where to sit without embarrassment.
