Visit These Places in Hanoi - Shopping, Dining and More

Hanoi has a lot to offer. Here are some places I recommend everyone to visit during their trip to Vietnam's capital:
Hanoi Centraltique Downtown Homestay in Old Quarter
A lovely homestay in Hanoi with friendly staff and cosy rooms. Note: There's no lift in this homestay. It might not be ideal for people (especially the elderly) who have trouble going upstairs. I stayed on the 5th floor.
Banh Canh Ghe 69
This restaurant has many positive reviews and it's located close to Hanoi Centraltique Downtown Homestay in Old Quarter. The spring rolls and noodles are delicious. There is a woman with many poodles near the restaurant. She adopted these abandoned poodles. People are welcome to give donations to help these poodles.
Banh My Mama
This stall selling banh mi is a local favourite. You'll see many Vietnamese buying banh mi from the stall. The banh mi here are delicious, and their prices are also cheap. Banh Mi Mama is located close to the St. Joseph Cathedral.
St. Joseph Cathedral
If you like gothic-looking cathedrals, then you must visit St. Joseph Cathedral. The cathedral holds a Saturday mass, which starts at around 6pm. You can join the mass if you like. Masses are also held on other days. Please check their website for more information on their mass timetable.
Vie Coffee
While there are many coffee places in Hanoi, I like Vie Coffee best. The staff were friendly and helpful. Vie Coffee also serves tea. It has many coffee beans, tea and coffee mugs for sale, so don't forget to bring home some if you find one you like.
Hỏa Lò Prison
If you want to learn more about Vietnam history, I recommend visiting Hỏa Lò Prison (also known as Hanoi Hilton). Your visit may take between 1 and 3 hours. I recommend their guided tour, whether with a tour guide or a rental headphone.
J'adore Café
If you like cakes, then check out J'adore Café. I love hanging out at this café when I'm alone or with others. It has a nice atmosphere with nice music. The staff are friendly, too.
Factory Outlet Vietnam
There are many shops like this. They offer sportswear and bags at attractive prices. Bargaining has become an acceptable norm here, so don't forget to ask for a good price if you find something you like.
TiredCity
If you like unique clothing and accessories, then you might want to check out TiredCity. By shopping here you're also supporting local artists.
Don Duck Old Quarter Restaurant
Even though I've had better duck dishes elsewhere, I still think Don Duck Old Quarter Restaurant is worth visiting. Apart from ducks, the restaurant also offers vegetarian-friendly meals.
Authentic Bat Trang - Ceramic shop
I found some of the cutest ceramic goods here. Perhaps you'll find something you like here, too.
CAFE HIEU
I had breakfast here. The fried rice came in a big portion. The milk tea was delicious.
Hanoi Prime Garden Hotel & Spa
This hotel has a lift. The hotel location is good, close to many shops and restaurants. If you're looking for somewhere quiet to sleep, I recommend checking out this hotel. One of the female staff was super friendly and helpful. She gave out many good local tips. I don't remember her name, unfortunately.
