The fact that we have an interview with this man even after so long has passed is just pure wonder. I'd really like to see the magic portal remastered, maybe soon
It's so crazy to think about how hard he worked on a project that in the time, nothing else could be compared to and so many years later is still one of the best of its subgenre.
Incredible to see. Very much agree with what he has to say about creating original stories and how releasing something online now is unfortunately like immediately getting lost in an ocean of content. Thanks for putting this together!
It was my pleasure, i love the magic portal so i was more than happy to do this. The actual interview istelf was gonna be more so a film school project, but the footage i got was so good i had to turn it into something more.
I had the pleasure of working with Lindsay in 2008 at a video game company that unfortunately went horribly down the drain. However, meeting Lindsay and getting introduced to this film was great. I just discovered this video when recommending The Magic Portal to someone on Reddit and I hope more people get to see it.
Thank you so much for this interview, C Lego Films! I listened too it while animating a big scene actually. It was really great and inspirational. I wish there were more interviews like this. Brickfilming is, in all truth, a somewhat obscure hobby, but there must be so many exciting BTS stories out there.
Definitely, and there was even more he could've told me, he was telling me more things once the cameras cut and he was showing me all the storyboards and stuff.
So good seeing this channel grow, from you recreating spider-man to interviewing the creator of the most iconic brickfilm in history is truly an achievement!!
Thanks, bro you a goat of animations too. This is truly some next level stuff for me, i go from upping the brickfilm quality to interviewing Lindsay Fleay. Crazy.
It could be so cool to get this 'The Magic Portal' on blu-ray some day! preferably with plenty of extramaterial, like some of his other shorts from back then, scans of the storyboard, this interview and such :)
Yeah, i do remember going up to the TAFE a week before the interview to confirm it was all still happening. It's cool to know if i ever decide to study animation, this cool guy will be my teacher.
He mentioned to me that he kept all of them, including all the lego pieces to build the sets too! The shoe was just the easiest (and most recognisable) thing to bring in

Me too, i really hope we do get to see this at some point.
Gawd, I made the soundtrack for this... Nostalgia! Lindsay!! Thanks for the shoutout!!
Oh, hey that's really awesome! You certainly made a memorable part of the film, thanks for watching!
Without that short film we wouldn't have The Lego Movie his work should be recognized and appreciated.
Part of the reason i made this video, i wanted to finally get an interview on camera with him
It's so crazy to think about how hard he worked on a project that in the time, nothing else could be compared to and so many years later is still one of the best of its subgenre.
Yeah it really does stand the test of time in a way some other brickfilms from that time don't

That's awesome! It is a timeless classic and Lindsay is a very interesting guy to talk to, I'm glad you enjoyed my video.
This man's work has been absolutely revolutionary to Lego and the endless world of brickfilms. Wish him nothing but the best!
This is incredibly underrated. It's a damn shame that this hasn't gotten the attention it deserves

Thank you so much man! I really have grown as a person and so the content reflects that too. This definitely was a really cool opportunity for sure.
I'm actually excited to watch Lindsay's 2k restoration of The Magic Portal, I hope he releases it soon
Same, I'm really eager to see it
That video was one of the first ever videos I watched when I was 4 years old, it's what got me into Lego and other stop motion films!
Really cool interview! This is one of my favorite short films and I would love to see a remaster.
I would too! I hope he releases it one day.
2 goated animators in a beautiful video, really fortunate that you were able to interview one of the pioneers of brickfilming, good shit Chris.
Thanks, bro you a goat of animations too. This is truly some next level stuff for me, i go from upping the brickfilm quality to interviewing Lindsay Fleay. Crazy.
Great to see this. I would love to see Legomatics
Me too! I hope he finds it if he still has it somewhere
So grateful to be able to help with this!
You slayed fr!

Agreed! It would be a sight to see for sure.
This guy got me into Legos!
Yoo this awesome! It's Soo cool you got to interview him!!
Thanks man! Yeah it was real surprising and I'm really happy with the footage i got
This was a lot of work for him because he spent 4 years working on it
I think they should make more Lego animated films. I personally enjoyed ‘The Lego Movie’ very very much. I also think C Lego films should direct it 💋
I hope we will get a part 2 of the magic portal
This is a piece of history
A piece of brickfilming history for sure.
Wow I Love this!!
I know this Lindsay, he’s one of my lecturers at tafe.

I know I’m late to this but I really want that poster board
It belongs to Lindsay Fleay, but it was sight to see in person that's for sure!
Awesome Insightful, I am trying to get better at My Own Stopmotion
when are we getting The Magic Portal in 4K
I'm not sure, Lindsay is quite busy but he does seem to be doing it in the background
I wonder what he did with the props and lego bricks
He mentioned to me that he kept all of them, including all the lego pieces to build the sets too! The shoe was just the easiest (and most recognisable) thing to bring in
@@CLEGOFILMS1 and also the green clay thing which I forgot its name of... Really seen better days
slay
Thanks baddie
