  • Collision theory relies on two implications that must both be met: sufficient energy to overcome the activation energy barrier and proper geometric orientation of the reactant particles. During such process, there are factors that affect such rate of reaction. Reactivity, ionization energy, temperature, concentration, surface area and a catalyst are all such factors that can either speed up or slow down the reaction. It is important to know these factors to determine which ones would help affect the reaction rate of a particular scenario, whether it being a chemical change or physical change of a substance.
