We used to put up smaller bales and store them separately if the clover content was high so it didn't get mixed up with better hay. Then it could be mixed in and fed judiciously. Farming...there's always something to worry about!! But gotta love it!!! 😍

I do wish you guys luck Mike. When I was a kid we fed our horses straight alfalfa. Now it is considered a ‘hot feed’ and we feed 3-way. I’m sure you know all that. It’s a wonder we weren’t causing colic all the time. It is so very interesting learning about haying for cattle and how you depend on Mother Nature, still. Thank you for being such a great teacher!

This is one of the few RUclips channels with hundreds of thousands of subscribers I watch. Your voice is broadcast quality and your real videos are great for learning where our food actually comes from. Amazing how good those fields look, Wyoming always made me think of a cold desert with little or no good grazing land. As a long time carnivore I like anything cattle related and harvesting hay has always appealed to me. Picking bales off of a field with a skid steer is my favorite farm activity.

I’m in the middle of my third chop and drop of my alfalfa fields this year in Iowa. Trying to shift the mix of hay away from alfalfa and more towards orchard grass, timothy and brome. I don’t think we’ve had nearly as much rain as you have though. We’re trying to avoid bloat too and we have a ways to go.

Another great educational video. There is always a challenge with each season. You and your family, ranchhand Jeff and Miss Kari handle each season, each day with strength and courage. This a a trait many of our younger generations have never dealt with. I pray for the ranch's continued successes and all who make up 'Our Wyoming Life ' family. God Bless from a very hot Southern Oklahoma.

Good video Mike. Most all the farmers in my area have moved away from cutting with a sickle bar mower and raking and switched to using mower-conditioners. They say it lets them save fuel and gets them more and higher quality hay in the end. Is that something popular in Wyoming or something you have considered?

And has helped against bloat in animals
It is a powder form and can fed with the animals feed or pellets.
