    So that's how you made the guitars in our track so HUGE!! Brilliant stuff Doc!... We are releasing it in June, can't wait!! 🤘🤩🤘

    Dude… so great. I appreciate you helping us all make synths out of this technique!

  • @cancelbubble6535
    @cancelbubble6535 Год назад +9

    Couldn't the bass essentially be playing those synth tracks (with similar effects on the bass) to produce the same effect?

    • @seizethemeansproduction
      @seizethemeansproduction 25 дней назад

      It COULD, but then it would just be a part of the baseline, instead of something that only exists to subtly thicken the guitars
      The overall effect to the song would be very different

    Thanks that’s very cool. There’s another trick. I often do, which is too double the root of the chord with Piano one or two (or Both) octaves below. Compress the hell out of the piano to take away the attack and it adds a great sustain underneath the guitar.

    I love production hacks (for lack of a better term) like this. After having a great song to work with, It’s all about standing out from the pack, and there’s no rules. The pros do whatever it takes to make a great song, and we all should do the same.

    I've been a fan of your channel since day one, great advice! But today I came across Goodbye June and The Warning songs which you had produced (I was not aware of that before!) and was blown away by the production before even knowing that you were the producer. Hats off, huge respect Sir.

    • @BobbyHuff
      @BobbyHuff  Год назад +4

      Thanks Pete. I actually didn’t produce The Warning. My great friend and mentor David Bendeth did. I did work on the record though! Goodbye June I did produce and it was a blast. They are great guys and super talented. The album was doing great and getting really good traction and then Covid hit and ruined the momentum. I have very fond memories of that record and really love some of the songs on it!

    I've been playing around with this concept after seeing Kain Churko and Mick Gordon doing something similar. 🤘🤘 Thanks for giving me more ideas on how to do it. You are the man. Easily one of my top favorite RUclips channels right now.

    Howard Benson is known to double guitar parts with synths, but he's never shown how he does it exactly. It would be great is Spectrasonics did a special extension pack with all kinds of electric guitar sounds (including feedback loops, e-bow sounds etc.) to create these layers.

    • @BobbyHuff

    I actually had a similar idea after watching Sylvia Massey's pickle and octaver tricks a few years ago. I got interesting results out of pitch shifting the fully re-amped audio down because the octave shift also grabs the high frequency fizz and pulls it into that slightly crunchier territory giving it some of that synthy quality especially with the right EQ pass filters. There's a lot of lo-fi analog synth territory to plumb from destroying guitar signals before or after the amp and mixing them back in.

    Some great sounds there that really fatten up the guitar. Do you think it might get in the way of the bass as it seems it might be going into the bass frequencies?..... cheers.

    You know, back in the hair daze, I swore I heard what sounded like an electric guitar unplugged and miced uo (prolly at the 12th fret you know) but it was in perfect sync with the roaring marshas. And thought they must have miced up the guitar in a quiet room such as the control room while the amps cranked away elsewhere. - never tried it, what say you?
