  • The River Line (stylized as River LINE) is a diesel tram-train Interurban light rail system in southern New Jersey, United States, that connects the cities of Camden and Trenton, New Jersey's capital. It is operated for New Jersey Transit by the Southern New Jersey Rail Group (SNJRG), which originally included Bechtel Group and Bombardier. Now that the project is in its operational phase, Bombardier is the only member of SNJRG.[1] The River Line is so named because the path between those two cities runs more or less parallel to the Delaware River.
The River Line stops at the PATCO Speedline's Broadway station (Walter Rand Transportation Center) and the NJ Transit Atlantic City Line's Pennsauken Transit Center, allowing passengers to transfer to and from these connections to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. ~Wikipedia

The views of the Delaware River are fantastic all year!#
I've ridden this line many times and always enjoyed myself.
This is a former railroad route that carried commuters
Freight is carried late night when no pasdenget trains are running
    Thanks Tim for sharing😀😀

This line uses part of the Camden & Amboy route, which was the 1st rail line in NJ and is also the oldest chartered line in the US

If you’re traveling to Philly, this is the best & cheapest way to get there. Great scenery and it’s nice & relaxing. Returning from Philly however, I always take the Trenton line out of 30th st station

Some people say this line was one created so South Jersey would have a light rail. North Jersey has two... Newark and Hudson-Bergen, which includes Jersey City. But I do see a good number of passengers on the River Line.

Λοιπόν, το Southern New Jersey Rail Group και οι άνθρωποι του New Jersey έχουν κάνει σπουδαία δουλειά και αξίζουν στους ανθρώπους εκεί πολλά συγχαρητήρια! Στο video σου παρέλειψες να μας δείξεις το stop at the PATCO Speedline's Broadway station προκειμένου να δούμε τη μετάβαση από τους συρμούς της River LINE στους συρμούς της PATCO.

This was some reason recommended to me. Kinda cool to see something local. Granted, I've never paid much attention to the riverine as I mainly take the NEC njt line to NYC. But I've seen the river line in Camden when I go to concerts there. Kinda cool

  • @MakeItWithCalvin

That is really cool and I know the "overhead electric" people wish it was EV but it seems to offer a lot of flexibility given no overhead lines.

I wouldn't really call it Light Rail it's basically a street running DMU. Many regional lines in Europe and elsewhere have them. Too me light rail is more the U-Bahn/Stadtbahn networks in Germany.
Although you could call the small Sprinter DMU's of Great Britain and now replaced Rail Buses of England and Wales light rail they mostly shared lined with main line trains with the exception of a few self contained branch lines.

    • @JoeyLovesTrains
      @JoeyLovesTrains 2 года назад +1

Also similar to the D branch of the MBTA green line. It’s a long line with stops far apart.

      U-Bahn is metro rail/subway.
Light rail is more of a tram that serves somewhat as a metro.

The Heart of Wales line has been run on a Light Rail Licence since 1972. Despite being run with Sprinter DMU's in the late 20th and 21st century.

      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_150
These lighter DMU's helped keep rural lines and coastal and community rail lines open in the 1980's when closure looked likely.

Huancayo was supposed to have one in 2012, which would have been a great advance in transport, but we also have "such great" politicians that, diminished the project under the excuse that a train like that must run on electricity only, they sabotaged the project and finally it never happened.. sad..

Addendum; The PSNJ,was split into two parts, one side ran from Newark to Trenton, and you changed at Trenton for part two, which then ran to Camden! The reason was the track Guage, the Northern side was standard, and Southern side was 5 foot, which made interchange,a bit of a nogo! Most of the routes out of Camden, are now bus,and if you get the old streetcar maps, you will see the follow the old routes, plus you have PATCO,operating over some of the old Pennsylvania- Reading Seashore route, interesting 📚 😀!!
