🎶Hello Musical Friends! 🎶 Now that Finale is over, what are you going to do? While I used Finale during my University studies, I switched to Dorico about a year and a half ago, and haven't looked back. However, I'm still keeping Finale on all my computers. You never know when you'll need it. Comment below what you are going to do! 🎵Have a wonderful, musical day!🎵
I used Sibelius for mny years but things chnged aat AVID. Costs went up, updates became rare and buggy. I don't know if things have improved at AVID because I switched to Dorico at the point. The first version of Dorico was grim and I stuck with Sibelius at that point. The later versions of Dorico were wat better. I now use Dorico 5 pro and couldn't be happier.
I used to use Personal Composer before they discontinued. I refused to use any other program after that, so I decided to build my own as a hobby at first. And wow, I can see why these things happen...this is a very complex software to build. But I am no longer building this as a hobby, and I am much more focused. If you build it right, you can future proof to a degree. But it is still hard unless you have a very disciplined engineering team.
I agree! As someone who switched to Dorico from Finale about 1.5 years ago, once I got used to how Dorico worked, I liked the flow much better. Of course, it did take a while to get used to Dorico. Wishing all current Finale users the best of luck at this time!
I personally think they are relatively different. The workflow in Dorico has a different approach than Finale. However, it just resonated with me better after working within the program for a while. To me, one of the bigger differences was the separation of write mode and engrave mode in Dorico. Inputting notes and making the score look great were in two different settings in Dorico. Once I got used to the different areas, I was able to separate the tasks associated with each area better. Hope this helps!

Dorico is just wonderful, and is the future of music notation in my opinion.

Hi there! Could I ask you, how different is Dorico to Finale?

What about Notion if you are a Studio One user? How good is it?
I'm not too familiar with Notion. However, those programs should work well together from what I quickly saw!
Sob. 😢
oh
Dorico is putting all other to shame
