certainly different from SE. I love how he played roots music in a way totally different from his Dad and TVZ. Though lone pine hill to me sounds like it could have been from any of the 3 of them. His talent took him to his own unique place beyond 2 namesakes. I am going to miss him dearly and am thankful for all of the music and stories he shared...RIP JTE💗
Great memories from the Annandale Hotel,Sydney Australia.2011. There was probably 40 people in the pub! Seemed like he was talking to me personally so did every one else! RIP Mate.
unfukinbelievable how good this is. this man. goddamned wat an artist. his songs--like this one--will long keep him remembered as a phenomenal one--ask anyone who knows.
Interesting, so I think he was saying this song is about telling the wrong thing to someone you love when they're telling you the world is coming down around them. He gave her maybe a hard truth, but wasn't what he should have said in her despair, and drove her away.
I think he told her the right thing..but that's not what she wanted to hear at that time..I believe Anna was still in the denial stage and wasn't ready for cold hard truth.. 'it's YOU who needs to change'..but that's what's great about great lyricists they're always open to interpretation.
Justin Townes Earle is the best songwriter of his generation and not many people come close. whoops
Missing you every time I hear you.
Love love love how he captures life in his lyrics. So sad he's gone. What a loss...
I just don't understand how 10,660 views isn't 10,660 likes. Beautiful. RIP Justin
This kid was better than his father. Change my mind.
absolutely, better songwriter for starters and a better singer by far RIP Justin

How I love him. And miss him.
Wow. This "hits different" now. I wish Justin could have found peace while he was still on this earth.
Stunning performance. Can't stop listening to it.
Damn!!! Get's me every time I watch this!!!! RIP. JTE
Justin you will be missed terribly.
The pedal steel is typically my fav part of this tune cause it fits so hauntingly right in there ... but dam I barely missed on this solo version
Incredible - he grabs my soul. See you in the stars my friend.
Always begging for forgiveness. Loved him. Sad day for Texas music
One of my favorite JTE songs (among many)
I miss you!
ah shit, r.i.p justin...
RIP JTE
Such beautiful songs. Bukowski would be proud.
JTE is an angel now ..call upon him.
🥰🥰🥰
🤯🤯🤯😢
Does anyone else hear a slight resemblence vocally to Rufus Wainright
Absolutely. I thought that from the first song I heard by JTE . It's in the richness and effort utilized to produce that vocal range.

Anybody know the guitar make/model?
Can't even make it out, but it might be a Guild or Martin with a new neck put on, not even sure. A dark mahogany type parlor style guitar.
Recording King ROS-616
J played a lot of recording king guitars, he made them chime like they were meant to and sound just as good a any guitar 5x their price.. 🙏🏼
