Thanks for sharing Mr. Simeone. Such a sad story. Hope Ono family reconsider it and propose a work around about it. Maybe a joint ownership is the way to go.

Unfortunately stolen property eventhough its paid for innocently & unknowingly that it's stolen property still belongs to the owner it was stolen from.
In terms of due diligence before purchasing the watch your father should have contracted Yoko to confirm its authenticity & to confirm that she had actually sold it in the first place.
I'm happy that Yoko will get John's watch back for it's sentimental value & I hope that you can also recoup the money you paid for it from the seller through legal proceedings if possible.

Really thank you for your comment! Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get to the truth. Our intention is only to show the situation from our side, based on the facts and actions that we took, in order to avoid speculation on this matter.
This watch really has a tremendous value as a timepiece, and a sentimental aspect, of course!

Hope you guys get your money back!!!! Such a beautiful watch and in such great condition too. A 2499, double stamped, worn by Lennon and with engraving... can't get much more special than that. Can't imagine what price this will realise it if hits an auction house

Thank you for clarifying your side of the story. Sometimes we read things in the news and make assumptions. I hope you recoup your loss because you’re also a victim.

I believe you are as much a victim in this case as Yoko Ono. Your attempt to reach out to Yoko Ono to confirm the provenance of the watch shows good faith on your part. I hope there is a way for you to hold the people behind Auctionata responsible for what they have done.

I have recently been brought into the world of watches, years ago I wore cheap watches and had bought and were gifted a nice watch once, however I did not wear the watch as I had moved a cell phone by then, I know how easy it is to put a watch on the self in a box and forget it, I am sure my watch was stolen sometime along the way of life, and I never noticed it, i have moved and to this day do not know if two of my watches are stored away or if they have been stolen. So yes I can actually see how this could happen that it was taken and she didn't notice till she looked. It is my understanding Yoko has always been good managing her money and I can't imagine she would have sold it. Certainly it's value was well above $600,000.00 even in 2013.

Isn't the story that that the driver for John Lennon was given the watch by Yoko? Which of course is completely absurd and illogical being that she had given it to John as a gift.

Crazy thing that watch. It shows exactly the same thing as a cheap watch. So what is so important? Not the time , not to be on time.
Wearing or having no watch is freedom
